100% agree.

I hate the fact he's starting/playing for us.

I've said it before:

How will the other players feel who bust their guts to play for United and love doing so, feel when they aren't getting game time, but this ambitious scouse feck is starting when he wishes he was elsewhere?!

It's not like the players who will be getting less game time with him starting are shit players either! Nani, Danny, Tony, Chicharito, Kagawa! I bet we will keep him playing in an effort to keep him happy over the others. I'm not sure whether the new management are strong enough to leave him out like Fergie was

It's certainly a bittersweet feeling seeing him play for United after his behaviour.

I guess the answer to what will happen is playing football does the talking - if he's now instrumental in us winning another title, I'd say the odds are both the fans and players will, to a certain extent, enjoy having him in the side again.

I'll never have that same affection for him as I once did, but emotional investment in modern day footballers is a hopeless thing anyway. We don't need to look longer than our own RvP to see that.

We need to go back to his way as soon as possible. No good will come from players like Rooney doing whatever they want. It'll just set a trend we'll find hard to break

Is that from his autobiography?

Jesus christ, I'm not reading that shite. Can someone update me on Rooney ... do we like him or hate him?

So brilliant bits of play, some average.

Some sloppy play, some brilliant. The whole team was sloppy yet again though. Loads of players need games.

Very very good performance yet again capped with a super free kick. He just links up play for us much better than anyone else in the team.

Oh and he's now scored or assisted 40 goals in his 44 PL games. Not half bad eh?

Thought he was very rough around the edges today but was lively enough, that cross at the end though :D

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (BBC):

On English football

I follow it. The player I like is Wayne Rooney. For me, Rooney is a fantastic footballer. I can imagine him playing alongside me.
For me, Rooney is not the player who scores 40 goals a season. But he is the player who helps his partner score lots of goals because he is working for one, two and maybe three other players. It seems like he has a strong mentality to win - like me he doesn't like to lose.
I think crazy things happen around him also. He is an impulsive guy like me. In football no-one is perfect. You learn from your mistakes and I like that with him. He is himself; I think that is very important. That is one English player I like more than anyone.

Oh and that ball in the first half to RVP, thought it was going to be Aston Villa all over again!

Should have taken it on himself there.

I don't agree. He had his back to goal and he did well to set up Hernandez for a better chance. It is that sort of intelligence that makes Rooney stand out. Think back to his header for Kagawa in the pre season friendly vs Hannover.

If he had a defender at his back I would agree but he was free and in on goal if he had taken a touch and he was centre of goal rather than Hernandez who was wide.

good game from him today. Well taken free kick for his goal. Though highlight of his game was the beautiful long ball onto RVP chest. Such a shame RVP couldn't put it away

That ball was a delight, if we can get a central midfielder able to do that allowing Rooney to be higher up the pitch it would be great.

We're we watching the same game? He was certainly no where near his worst and had some very nice passes but there was certainly little to warrant best player in the PL!

Nice lay off to set up Hernandez for a great chance

Nah, he was through on goal pretty much, should have taken the chance himself... he was in the better position. Not having a go or anything- everyone was over playing a bit in the second half.

Anyway, he was decent today, nothing more... I think our standards of Wayne Rooney are dropping a bit if we are hailing that as a great performance.
