The statement should come from Rooney and not someone like SSN. Is he really that busy he can't tweet something himself or release a statement on his website?

All this media spun bollocks has been fed by his camp by the looks of it. Therefore, a Sky Source in this case would be a representative of his, I would assume, which means Rooney has told them to lay off any attempt to force a transfer and he has made up his mind. For now. This ties well with what Mourinho said last night - specifically the "He told someone close to him that is very important that he wanted to leave".

I honestly believe Mourinho wasn't serious about buying him, and was just using the rumours to destabilise us, with them playing us, 2 games into the season. Bids of £20m & £25m were never going to get him, even if he'd only had a year left on his contract.
His "special fans" flannel, to me, was him saying it's over, didn't work, time to move on.

For the record, I reckon the person Rooney is supposed to have told he wanted to move was Arsely Cole.

It's a bit cringeworthy watching drones at the match shouting 'Rooney, Rooney, Rooney' while pointing at him. Awful chant.

Sent from my armchair.
Why dont you get off your arse and go to the fecking game yourself then?

Your hero will try again next summer or leave on a free. Stuff of legends.

He's going nowhere

I don't like him, but I value him as a player. I won't sit here scratching my arse announcing my distaste for him, nor will I praise his attitude or apparent commitment.

Good news, but the red machine rolls on regardless.

It's hard to be against him when his attitude is as good as it was last night, but do people really think his attitude will stay that way in the long term if he does stay?

I have no confidence in this being the last of it, we'll be re-visiting the same scenario next summer where he will probably just leave this time. At least it's put to bed for this season though.

It's a fair question. I think with England in mind he'll force himself to knuckle down. Tho it'll be hard, especially if he finds himself on the bench more than he likes. It's a very volatile situation, that's for sure.

Hopefully he leaves and then we buy Ronaldo so we can be finished with putting up with disloyal players who don't want to be at the club.

But that's the club's call, not his. Is this what you mean by shitting on the club and the fans then? Moyes and Woodward decide they'd rather let him run down his contract than sell him, and that's Rooney being a
But that's the club's call, not his. Is this what you mean by shitting on the club and the fans then? Moyes and Woodward decide they'd rather let him run down his contract than sell him, and that's Rooney being a wanker?

Eh? No that would be Rooney wanting to leave once by declaring that te club does not match his ambition, thus making us a laughing stock, humiliating and undermining our legendary manager by implying he is not taking us into the right direction.

After a pay rise and much cuddling, he then went on to declare to everyone who wants to listen how he made the biggest mistake of his life by submitting that transfer request.

Fastforward two years later, and he's at it again.

As for you say ij ng it is the club's decision to run his contract down? It speaks volumes that you fail to see the.more.obvious angle: that Rooney is leaving the club no choice but to either sell him to a rival or face losing him for a cheaper price or even for free. You believe we wouldnt offer him a contract extension if he, the big man himself, gave any sign of wanting to stay?

the cnut.

You don't feel that not putting in a transfer request a few days away from the closing of the transfer window is putting it to bed?

Of course not, there are plenty of reasons he might not put one in. Wierd statement to be honest.

He hasn't put one in for the whole window, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't open to a move away. Bale hasn't put a transfer request in, does he not want to go to Madrid?

He's still not talking. Personally, I can't help but hate Wayne.

I don't blame him. As soon as he starts talking he will get asked questions that he probably doesn't want to answer.

If I was him I would simply get my head down and let my football do the talking.

Jose doesn't like it. feck him.

He can go in two years for nowt. I honestly think his fitness and body type will slow him down to where he has no choice but to play midfield and he will be a less effective player.

you know, you have to be fairly mobile in the midfield in the premier league...

I believe that in two years time we won't be too upset to rid ourselves of a this particular quarter a million pound per week asset.

In two years time he might have changed his tune even further. By then he will probably have decided he wants to stay here as he will then be 30 and on a whopping pay cheque per week.

I'm one of his most vocal critics regarding his attitude off the pitch, and have stated that I'd be happy to see him go after the way he's behaved. But to be honest, I've never bought into the idea that he can be lazy on the pitch - even during his lean spells, he's normally charging around the pitch, if anything trying to do too much at times.

It never ceases to amaze me the sentimentality that is expected of footballers, despite the lack of any evidence of it anywhere in the game, save among fans. It's all business now. As long as he does his job and isnt unprofessional by criticising the club or the manager in public, it's all fair enough in my book.

I know, but as the club's stance is 'we are not selling you', have been clear about it, the manager has given him playing time in important PL games (hardly the same situation as Bale), my reading of the situation is that the only way he could indeed leave is if he handed in a transfer request. By not doing, he's implicitly saying that he's accepted he's staying. I'm not saying he's over the moon, that it's his deepest desire or anything, but I think he's accepted the club's position.

I could of course be wrong.

If Rooney leaves on a free in 2 years time then I have no issue with it. I would have issues with selling him to Chelsea for 40m.

11 years of quality service is money well spent

Hopefully he leaves and then we buy Ronaldo so we can be finished with putting up with disloyal players who don't want to be at the club.

The same Ronaldo that said he was being treated like a slave because we wouldn't let him join Madrid? The same Ronaldo that openly flirted with Madrid for two years?

Fans have a very short memory.

Why don't you just give up?

All you have done in this thread is put your own prejudiced slant on everything rooney has done.

If you can cite one statement of mine for being beyond the pale and without foundation do please do go right ahead.

Give up on what precisely? What would it say for the depth of any opinions i hold if they could be reversed because of a single reasonable performance against Chelsea, as, considering that part of the argument centres around his dedication and return to being team player then we are but one step along the road, no more.

I will try to be fair and consistent, praise when it is due however also maintaining the expectations for the talent he believes himself to be.

If Rooney's revival is an enduring one well then that would be something worthy of the reaction by here.
