There's still a few that think nothing is going on? Christ.

Something clearly is going on, there's no basis for overreactions and calling Rooney names though. I'd rather see it play out first.

Edit: Christ, i really need to stop replying to posts from 20-30 pages ago.

Of course there's something going on you fruitloop.

So Stevie Me was counselling Rooney about his future? I literally shivered when I saw that on SSN

He turned down Chelsea after a brief flirtation so he might be a good person to talk him off of the ledge.

On the other hand he could be the ghost of Christmas future and tell wayne "look at what happened to me when I didn't leave" and then show him pictures of various league tables and team photos.

Yes, because Rooney's been success starved like Gerrard.

Get yourself off to the Eto'o thread.

The idea of anything semi sensible coming out of a conversation between Rooney and Gerrard is the most absurd thing in this thread

Erm...... I like phil Colin's and not winning leagues la,
Really stevie? I like really old women, McDonald's and wiping my ass with cash, lets be Bessie mates ya blert.

The headline on that article is completely misleading. none of the quotes from Gerrard even remotely show that Rooney is unhappy.

Pretty much the way with footballing reporting now. A nice snappy, controversial headline, and then quotes which don't suggest what the headline is saying at all. It'll happen all season long with stuff like "[Manager] blasts referee!!" and really he's just saying he was disappointed they didn't get a penalty or something.

The media is poison.

Hes not good enough for Bayern

 Not sure if serious? Of course he's good enough for Bayern. FFS, Rooney's good enough for just about any team on the planet.

The question isn't his talent, it's his dedication/fitness/lifestyle etc. Just because he's a cnut, doesn't all of a sudden make him a shit player.

On form he's easily a top 5 striker in the WORLD.

Im one of those that think Rooney on form and fully fit is world class.

:wenger:

Do people need to add this to statements about Messi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Schweinsteiger, Fabregas, Thiago etc?

A more accurate statement would be could be world class if he could be arsed, but can't so isn't.

Thiago's world class? Hmmm, not sure I agree there (though he'll probably be in that bracket very soon), but point still taken.

Not sure why you posted the "deluded" icon mate? I didn't think the statement was that outlandish. No matter your hate for Rooney, surely even YOU can recognise that he veer's between shit and world class? That's just a fact.

Arguing that "inconsistency means he's not world class" is just being pettty IMO. He's actually been pretty consistent for a couple of seasons as well. (10-11 i think I'm referring to).

I might want Rooney gone as well (but not to Chelsea), but I'm still able to appreciate the 7-8 years he's given us and his talent.

Absolutely, I just could not decide which one to use :)

I'd love to see a Sparky vs Wr8 debate on Rooney...unless of course I've missed it already? ;)

There is nothing to debate, Im the voice of reason and sanity, and Im being proved more and more right all the time. WR8 is a passionate and delusional rooney fan who will need a rubber room, constant supervision and foam cutlery for his own safety when Rooney leaves.

Love you really mate :)

You're both exactly the same just on opposite ends of the spectrum.

You're just so full of love, aren't you. Well, except of course, for our dear 'Ol Wayne! ;)

So... he's not for sale to Chelsea, and there is nobody abroad who want him it seems... hopefully this is just bargaining tactics from us to a)drive the price up and b) delay his inevitable move until deadline day... as I don't see how keeping him around for the new season is a good thing.

He can go to fecking city for all I care if it means bringing in Ozil

Unless we are adding a striker this summer, Rooney if staying, is definitely good for the team. I don't think he will keep on sulking in dressing room. Maybe some senior players will need some convincing after his behaviour but they are the ones who know that it is good news for greater good of team.
Rooney has put 100% commitment on field every time and I don't see that changing. Fans may not give him a good reception early on but we all know that if he does something like THAT overhead kick against City, many will forgive him.

It will be marriage of convenience from now on. Let's see how long it lasts.

Sorry this is bollocks I have seen a few games where he did not turn up and coasted though the game.

You could be right about the forgive but I doubt many will forget.
Personally, I will never cheer him again, I will cheer any goal he score because it is for the team not because he has scored it.

He has had shit games where he has looked like he was put on football pitch on first time but he did try most of the times. Maybe sometimes when it was going really awful for him in 2nd half last season he got frustrated a bit but overall commitment wise, he has rarely lacked. That commitment only can't give goals or results though.

I too will find it tough to cheer him now but keeping him and then hoping things work out seems lesser evil to me than selling him to Chelsea.

What is commitment on the pitch and what does it look like? Sounds like one of those words that doesn't actually apply to anything. Name me one United player who hasn't looked "committed" on the pitch, or less so than Rooney?
