Actually Nostradamus
The Star are the go to paper for exclusives these days.
It would be if we got someone in the Fabregas / Ronaldo level of signing but that isn't looking that likely. Selling Rooney to Chelsea for £40m and getting Fellaini and nobody else would be title suicide. Not saying this is true or anything but for 40 million pounds it'd worth thinking about selling him.

"Bren Blasts Cheap Weng" Sorry, off topic, but why don't the Daily Star make their Rooney back page splash just slightly smaller so they could accommodate a more coherent headline for their Suarez story?
Replace Blasts with Slams and we're good"Rod Blasts Cheap Arse" would've worked too.
I'd prefer he stayed at utd than any amount of money from Chelsea.
Will never understand how any of you would want this to happen for even 40mill.
To a foreign side fair enough though.

Can't imagine where this constant talk that is hurting him has come from
"...is hurt by constant talk that he is determined to leave Old Trafford. He DOES NOT want to leave."
If only there was some kind of way of him letting everybody know this.
Wayne Rooney will ask Manchester United for a transfer this week.
Sunday Mirror Sport understands that talk of Rooney’s future has dominated the Old Trafford dressing room during pre-season and that many of his United team-mates are expecting the 27-year-old striker to now make his wish to leave the club official in the coming days.
New United boss David Moyes has insisted since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson last month that Rooney is not for sale – and has rejected bids from Chelsea and Arsenal. But Rooney – and his team-mates – believe that his time at United has come to an end nine years after arriving from Everton in a £25million deal.
Rooney feels his future would be best served under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, but United will ideally look to sell him abroad.
Submitting an official transfer request will prompt the Blues to increase their offer to £30m. A dressing-room source said: “It is now clear that Wayne has made up his mind about leaving United.
“It has nothing to do with David Moyes. He simply feels that he needs a new challenge.
“The talk around the club has been that he will officially ask for a transfer in the next week.”

What a difference 9 minutes makes.
So the Star says he wants to stay, and the Mirror says going to submit a transfer request.
I think they should have a wager on it - something like the paper that has called it wrong should close-down forever. Then the one that was correct should, in a sign of respect for it's defunct rival, also close-down forever, along with the Sun, Express and the Mail.
It would led to the start of a bright new era in British life.

Jamie Jackson from the Guardian was on the radio earlier and he seemed to concur with the Mirror in that Rooney will be submitting a written transfer request some time this week, also that the press are pretty much on the edge of their seats at the prospect of a negative reaction toward Rooney in one of the matches before the start of the season.

Rooney to put in transfer request as Moyes prepares for crunch talks with striker

Wayne Rooney will submit a formal, written transfer request if Manchester United refuse to sanction his move to Chelsea this week.
United have already rejected a bid of £23million, plus £2.5m in additional clauses, but Chelsea are poised to make an improved offer.
Boss Jose Mourinho, who is in America for the International Champions Cup, is so desperate to make the move happen that Chelsea secretary Dave Barnard has stayed in London as part of their negotiating team.
Rooney re-iterated his determination to quit Old Trafford during crunch talks with new United manager David Moyes over the weekend.
United’s Barclays Premier League clash with Chelsea on August 26 is a delicate issue ahead of his potential transfer, but Rooney’s heart is set on the move and he has told team-mates he does not want to play abroad.
He played 45 minutes for United in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Real Betis at the weekend and has pledged to fulfil his contractual obligations, which means he is expected to play in Tuesday’s friendly against Swedish club AIK in Stockholm.
Rooney is citing irreconcilable differences with the club, relating to comments made by Sir Alex Ferguson — now a United director — when he quit in May. Ferguson revealed to the United crowd that Rooney wanted to leave.
The striker is now prepared to put his wishes in writing before Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial against Sevilla on Friday and will use any backlash from angry United fans as ammunition in his fight to leave.
They are unlikely to be as forgiving as they were in 2010, when he questioned the club’s ambitions before signing a new contract.
Chelsea are ready to match Rooney’s £240,000-a-week wages and will offer him a five-year deal.
Meanwhile, United’s pursuit of Cesc Fabregas could also come to a head this week. Barcelona are understood to have told Fabregas to state publicly that he wants to stay at the Nou Camp, while the club’s director of football Andoni Zubizarreta claimed last night that United now accept he will not be sold.
However, Moyes’s interest remains as strong as ever and the United boss is ready to make a third bid of £35m if he receives positive signals from Fabregas’ representatives.

Ladies and gentleman - this week's number from the Daily Mail is £240,000-a-week.
£240,000-a-week.
Anybody got bingo yet?
I am hoping it doesn't take that long, if he does go then that money needs to be reinvested this summer. If he's leaving my guess is Chelsea will be his only destination...I wonder if there's a way we can agree a deal so that it doesn't go through to the 27th?...or just drag it out until then - with the risk of Chelsea going elsewhere.
