If as is reported he wants out, for the second time in a few years btw, then why would we not sell him for 40m.

We have RVP and Chicharito deserves a fair crack at starting more. We have some talented youngsters coming through and could spend on another youngster in his early twenties.

We don't need Rooney desperately. If we are offered 40m for him we shouldn't hesitate.

He doesn't appear to want to stay - that's the bottom line for me.

This makes a lot of sense, but the idea of strengthening a direct title rival just doesn't sit well. Seems like we won't have any alternative though.

But we all know Rooney is a past his peak, unprofessional cnut. He might have a Tevez-esque one year revival after moving, but he'd soon slip into his old ways eventually.

Whilst us, on the other hand, will move forward and improve as a team.

My mate told me this afternoon that he read on talksport that PSG had bid over £40 million for Rooney.

Any truth to this lads, or just more speculative bullshit?

The Rooney issue getting settled will genuinely be as good as a signing, I think. I really don't like having this kind of speculation hanging over the club. As good as he is it really will be a relief when he's gone and this is over.

Really can't wait for the transfer window to end and for Rooney and Nani to be here come 3rd September.

I don't care how much they offer, I do not want him to go to Chelsea. He will be awesome there and make us look like right cnuts. Just sell him to PSG and be done with it.

£80m wouldn't do it?

I'm picturing his first goal of the season, it's almost mandatory he reveals a "Haters Gonna Hate" undershirt to the sky cameras :smirk:

Not unless a lot of that goes on new players. As fans, that money does very little for us if it doesn't go towards buying new players and we'll have to watch Rooney play and score for Chelsea. That's definitely not something I want to do unless it means our squad has become significantly stronger.

Is anyone here going to Rio's testimonial? What sort of reaction do people think the OT crowd are going to give him, similar to the trophy celebration and parade?

That requires some interest first, which following some early rumours hasn't really materialised. And unless they intent do sign two forwards this summer the answer to that question was that they preferred to spend £56m on Cavani.

Whether he's staying or leaving, I can't see Wayne playing in the testimonial. It'd be asking for trouble.

If he stays he will have to play at Old Trafford at some point. I don't see the harm in him playing in the testimonial. If anything the crowd reaction should be better as you would hope that the support would be there to celebrate Ferdinand's fantastic career with us

Booing at a testimonial would be weird. I've been at Arsenal ones where hated sp*rs players have turned out and everybody has applauded and cheered them. There was a bit of ribbing but all for a laugh.

Yeah, that's a point, chief. Maybe that match is the best one for him to 'come back'.

Having been jeered when picking up his winners medal and booed during the parade the idea of doing so at a testimonial doesn't strike me as that far-fetched, after all were not they a celebration/party atmosphere too?

I could foresee a mixed reaction and when his name is called out and perhaps some negativity early although it wouldn't be prolonged.

If he did play they'd probably have to time a sub right, take off a really popular player, maybe even Rio himself to try and offset the boos, although wouldn't stop anything in game. He probs won't play though I'd imagine, don't think he's got that far training wise anyway.

Are the majority of match goers in general borderline fruitcake cynical cnuts like most in this thread? If he appears in a red shirt on the field I just can't see him getting dogs abuse from his own fans. If they do....... That's a bit fecked.. Isn't it?...

^ Do you suppose that he is talking about us? :smirk:

Well it wouldn't exactly be fitting.

An obvious refusal to sing his name or silence when his name is called out might be a more tactful way of demonstrating criticism for those inclined to do so.

I don't think they'll boo him at a testimonial but if he does stay then I expect he'll get a very mixed reaction once the competitive games start if he's playing. It'll wear off over time but I get the feeling a lot of fans won't get over this betrayal like they did with the one in 2010.

I don't really see why it's bootiful one day and booless the next? That's a bit mental as well imo.

Wouldn't the best thing to do to say 'you know what, you're here and we have mixed opinion but we're fans of Manchester United and the best thing for the team is to get behind you no matter what now that you are here' in the end as fans that's all they really can do on matchday? They will look like absolute toolboxes if they start booing their own player(s).

Killer pun!

I'd much rather they did that as well but the bottom line is that Rooney has come across as a complete arse throughout this saga and has looked like a money grabber who would take a move for more money if he could. That's going to make a lot of fans angry and I don't blame them for booing.

I guess?... If that is what they have been reading from the press and how they choose to react to it. I'm not blaming them either but it's a tad silly really if you ask me.. Someone should do a factual timeline of this so called 'saga'.

Booing is pointless, he has revealed himself as the twat I knew him to be all along, he will never again be as adored as he was, and he knows it. Booing won't change it in either direction and could have a negative effect on other players as well.

A lot of the people going to the testimonial will be families and kids who can't/don't go to the competitive games. They'll all love Rooney.

Thanks for the little morsel from the mind of Wayne Rooney. Since you're cognitively in his mind can you let the mail know if he wants to leave? Thanks. It might have a negative effect on the other players they might think 'why are our own fans booing us..? That is a bit fecked...?' you wouldn't blame them for thinking that either really.

Absolutely correct, its pointless and counter productive, and be fair, as thick as he is he can not seriously expect to be the supporters golden boy after dicking the club around again for the second time in three years........even he isn't that dim to think he will be.

It's a shame for him (since he obviously thinks this) that so many people read papers these days.

It's usually a family atmosphere so I doubt he will get any abuse, it's Rio night so I doubt anyone will be bothered about Rooney. The Chelsea game will be interested if this saga is still going on.
