United don't consider the FA Cup as being a major trophy. It's rather convenient, but it's nevertheless true.

I don't agree with that. You haven't been greatly successful in it in recent years, but I remember it being a big deal when it was the first thing that Fergie won.

I'm convinced that Wayne is gonna stay. Maybe in a minority but the lack of interest from outside and the fact that we won't sell to a PL rival makes me think he will stay.

Christ, right now it looks like we'll be keeping him.

Well Wayne, you've a lot to prove to the fans, in terms of loyalty and commitment to the club. Such is the fickle nature of the average football fan, however, score the winner in the derby and most will forgive you. I, for one, haven't forgiven your last transfer request, and to be honest am a little disgusted you'll likely remain a player at the club I follow.

Based on nothing, but pure guess work - I think it will depend on the singings we can pull. If we are to able prize away Cesc and Bale/Ronaldo/Mata, then I am sure we'll sell/exchange him to balance the spending.

Otherwise, you are right, we will not sell him and weaken our squad.

Plus there's also the fact that Moyes has said atleast five times now that Wayne won't be sold by the club. He'll look a bit weak if we sell him now.

There is absolutely no chance of Juan Mata going to United. He is about to pen a 5 year contract. The only link there came from bullshit playground briefings.

Most fans will put up with it, but I really don't think the majority will properly forgive this time. I managed to put the previous situation behind me, but I can't see myself managing that again.

It doesn' help that he's so scuzzy generally... if he had Cantona's charisma, Scholes' self effacing humility or even Beckham's smooth charm he might have more chance!

If he actually cared about the fans & their opinions, he wouldn't be behaving as he is.

I know this applies to 80% of the posts on the forum over the summer months, but there's always something funny about a random guy from the internet telling you THE TRUTH and belittling contradictory rumours from "dubious sources"...

It's a ploy to show we're not desperate to sell him so as to get more money for him. Never believe what managers say at face value regarding transfers.

There is absolutely no chance of Chelsea getting Rooney unless we make a couple of marquee signings or Mata is part of the deal.

Except that Rooney wants out and by all accounts refuses to go abroad, whilst Mata has repeatedly stated that he is happy at the club. Rooney is a problem, Mata isn't.

There is a substantial difference.

We won't know the truth of that until Moyes has at least one signing to his credit and Chelsea or whoever elect to test us with a sensible offer.

Although the current lack of serious interest from Europe's elite must be a somewhat deflating experience for Rooney.

Stop making up things.

Ugh... I wait the day that Roman decides to feck off which wipes that smug smirk of all the Chelsea supporting cnuts (Except duffer).

Stop making up things.

Is that making things up? This will be the second time he has agitated for a move. You don't have to be a United insider to read between the lines that he isn't happy and wants out.

Whether he would go abroad or not is open to debate, but I personally couldn't see him there and there also doesn't seem to be a great deal of interest from the continent for him.

I meant about the going abroad part.

The foreign clubs hasn't expressed any interest in him. He'd feck off anywhere where he gets the highest money.

If we are going to believe every nonsense from the tabloids than by "all accounts" Chelsea have wanted to flog Mata and Luiz since the beginning of the transfer window.

We won't weaken our team while significantly strengthening yours. Stop dreaming.

I can still maybe see a late move in the window, but it's gonna take a massive sum of money from Chelsea. Chelsea aren't in the best negotiating position, having paid £50 million for Torres in the past, and revealing it's Rooney or nobody. Also, Suarez' fee will likely up Rooney's value.

I think one way or t'other, Rooney is a gonner , may be gooner ? anyhow, it is just the where, the when and the how much....

no chance he'll be at United, he wants out, and we'll sell on right deal.

Rooney posted on his FB "Rio Ferdinand celebrates his testimonial on August 9th at Old Trafford. Go to www.manutd.com/rio to get your tickets. Enjoy your day mate, fully deserved!"

Just because some point in this saga I remember mention about Rooney and Rio having issues - something to do with Ashley Cole is one of Rooney's best friends and Cole's support of Terry. Personally can't see Rooney promoting this if him and Rio are on the outs.

Has anyone else noticed when this thread is top on the forums list page all it shows is Wayne Rooney-United Reject

As each day passes I get more of a feeling that he'll stay. Chelsea will need a monster of a bid for us to accept it, and there seems to be little to no interest from abroad.

I think he will want to stay in England due to his kids, NorthWest to London is an easy commute he could probably keep his house if he moved to Chelsea. As for offers from abroad I haven't seen Rooney linked with anyone other than PSG, possibility that the rest of Europe does not rate him as high as we do here.

Rooney and Rio falling out because of that is FAR FETCHED, unless Rio has a problem with everyone who talks to Ashley and John. I doubt it.

He doesn't seem to be on the outs with anyone at the club - apart from a certain director, perhaps. Shouldn't be a surprise, really. The fact that he's now regarded as a supreme cnut by a large segment of our fans (at least on here), doesn't say anything about what he's like as a person. We know next to nothing about that. My take on it is this: The better he gets on with his team mates, the easier it will be for all parts to handle a situation where he's denied a move and has to remain at OT.

Yeah. Us and Jose Mourinho (whoever that is).

Don't he and Rio always team-up on the Xbox or whatever they play on the pre-season diaries? I seem to remember them being unbeatable on that in the MUTV videos a season or two back? I'd imagine they are pretty close, but then I can also imagine Rooney getting along famously with Terry.

Just look at RVP, Nasri and Fabregas. 3 phenomenal players but why did they eventually choose to leave Arsenal ?

Because none of them they had won anything of real importance in their entire careers with Arsenal? As opposed to Rooney, who made the statement about ambition after the season where we lost the league by a single point to Chelsea, in what would have been our fourth successive league title, the biggest period of dominance the Premier League has ever seen?

The ambition line was total nonsense and an insult to what United aim for each season, it was very clearly about money and a better contract.

Rooney has been played by his agent fully and he's either too stupid to realise his fault or he thinks he's in too deep already and thinks he's better off sticking with more money over his legacy.

I've never really believed Rooney will be off this summer and nothing has happened to change that. There's no interest from abroad and he'll be still here come next summer imo.

I think Rooney knows exactly what he's doing. He's had his nose put out of place and knows he's in trouble because better players have been brought in to his position (s).
