If it is true that Rooney was playing golf yesterday, reportedly 10 miles from Chelsea HQ.
If he can play golf, why is he not still with the team , he can play he can train.
Not sure him plying near Chelsea is important, but why there , there is many excellent quality courses in and around the NW he could play on.

Personally, I think the 'injury' is either complete bollocks or massively overplayed in order to keep him away from the squad. At the end of the day, if we intend on selling him then we can't risk injury in a friendly. It'd be a disaster if we had to keep him due to injury, we need him out of the club by the start of the season.

There's one key difference which makes the Rooney bid a lot more low and stupid than the Fabregas one. That being it was made by a domestic title rival. Not sure if this point has already been made.

Do you think that Rooney may have decided to bring the charade to an end in an expression of defiance? a The chances of a round of golf going unnoticed are slim to none after all.

Bit overdramatic, no? We'd be absolutely fine, probably better off, having a player of Rooney's quality still at the club. We're not exactly strapped for cash, so the money situation doesn't really matter that much. And the dressing room is as rock solid as ever, so even if Rooney is agitating for a move the way the media want him to be, it won't do anyone else any harm.

Not sure if this has been posted or not (apologies if so) - but this is funny:

I can't remember the last time Rooney received an injury without a bunch of conspiracy theories popping up regarding it being faked for some stupid reason. He must be the most purported to be injured prone player in the sport and yet Chelsea still want him? Teamed up with football's 'Dick Dastardly' Jose Mourinho (he of such infamy as hiding in a laundry basket and hiring a spy plane to fly over United's training sessions) Rooney would be suffering from fake injuries on a daily basis. With reasoning of increasing obscurity Rooney would find himself perennially pretend injured under the guidance of Mourinho at Chelsea and this is why I don't think this transfer will ever happen; it just wouldn't be beneficial for either party.

Its nobodies fault but his own though, ever since he decided to openly contradict SAF and claim he isn't injured when SAF said he was.

Coleen has spoken, Rooney is staying! (or going to City?)

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen is reportedly against uprooting their family from the North West to London.

The England international has been linked with a move to Chelsea following a reported £20m bid by the Blues, which was swiftly rejected by the Premier League champions.

Coleen is keen to keep her two young sons Kai and Klay in Cheshire in order to be close to her family, including parents Tony and Colette, according to the Daily Star.

If we do sign Fabregas and a couple of others, maybe it'll make Rooney less likely to push for a move.

Today's installment of "Poor Wayne" is brought to you by Neil Ashton....

So Chelsea's financial ceiling is £30 million? That'll be simple enough for the club to reject. And for anyone concerned about Rooney's fitness, don't worry, his wife shops at Waitrose.

Also, how do I fix the font size?

Ashton and Lipton are doing a great P.R. job on Chelsea's behalf. It makes me laugh that gimps like these constantly whine about how they take abuse on Twitter from people who accuse them of making up stories, and then they go and write stuff like this from inside Chelsea's pocket. "Honestly, guv, I wouldn't tell a lie. Unless it helped me get the next exclusive from Chelsea."

"Rooney’s wife Coleen shops in Waitrose near their home in Alderley Edge virtually every day, filling the family’s trolley with fresh fruit, lean meat and brown pasta."

This is the most bizarre thing ever - so what that she shops at Waitrose and buys fruit, lean meat and brown pasta. Its not the food, its the smoking and drinking the fat bastard needs to cut out
Perhaps brining an entire trolley of food every day isn't that good of an indicator of heath either. Or summat.

Definitely agree, how do they know what his wife buys and even if they do, how could they know the portions Rooney would eat ? How do you go from his wife's shopping to determining he's fit and eating healthy. Cheap, cheap journalism at best

Agreed. We need to bring such players in fast.

Rubbish ! We already have players like that, are you forgetting WE are the PL Champions.
If Rooney does not like playing with who is at the club feck HIM, buying new players should not be a reason for him to stay at the club, he should want to play for the club without any conditions being in place.

Interested to see how the Suarez to Arsenal transfer pans out. If we're looking to sell Rooney to Chelsea, it'll have to be a similar fee to what Arsenal pay for that rodent.

Just look at RVP, Nasri and Fabregas. 3 phenomenal players but why did they eventually choose to leave Arsenal ?

Much as I'd like to see an end to the whole saga, there really is no need for us to rush this one. Presumably, the closer we get to Sept 1st, the more Chelsea will cough up if they really want him.

Secondly, and most importantly, the Rooney situation will be influenced - potentially even crucially so - by what we do in the market: If we manage to land a huge signing, losing Rooney will obviously be much less of a risk. If I were Moyes, I'd want to conclude my business, hopefully signing at least one of my major targets, and then sit down and go over the pros and cons one last time - before accepting a bid from a domestic rival.

True, as frustrating as it is it'll be in our interest to draw this one out. Do a Levy.

Isnt it 2 years left on his contract? So he'll be 30 when we'll allow him to leave on a free? Do he really think that he'll get this huge contract after sulking for 2 years, at the tender age of 30? I bet Rooney is terrified of not being able to move this summer.

Because Arsenal couldn't win a trophy for love nor money...........I see your point, if ONLY we weren't in the middle of a huge trophy drought........hang on a second!!!!!!!

He probably want to be playing upfront a lot in a world cup year but I doubt he is worried about not getting a ridiculous salary wherever (or whenever) he goes.

A 30 year old Rooney on a free transfer could get absolutely crazy wages if money that was all he was interested in.

Definitely agree with this. We hold a lot more of the aces than Rooney... and I really want us to use them. Hold him to his contract for at least another year, irrespective of players brought in. He'll have to play well as its a World Cup year (not that he has a huge amount of competition up front for England) and we keep a top class player. Plus it stuffs Chelsea a little as they are expecting to sign him and consequently aren't looking at any other strikers.

Wouldn't surprise me if we're waiting for movement on the Fabregas transfer (or any others who may be in the pipeline) before we decide on Rooney. At least that's what I hope we're doing, and we're not just getting fond of pissing around doing nothing.

So basically you're saying that he'll get crazy wages.

Who knows though, I would say that Rooney is one of the players that might be reliant on a high level of fitness to be able to continue his style of playing, which usually fades with age. I realise that 30 is hardly an age for a footballer these days, but we dont know how big of an attraction he'll be in two years time if he spends that time sulking on the bench.

I don't know, if he is THAT desperate to move making him sweat and panic sounds like fun to me :)

If he only plays 20 games a season for the next two years he'll still be England's main man at a World Cup (those 3 games will be high profile) and still only be 29 (he's 27 now).

Unless the wages of footballers generally take a big dip, a free transfer 29 year old Wayne Rooney could get £300K a week.

Yupp, it's hard to think that his status will drop that much, but still. He's been playing regularly in the last few seasons, yet he's no longer being talked about as one of the best players in the world anymore. One would think that being a United-reserve would do even more harm.

I still think that Wayne is desperate to move this summer though. Judging by the stories that Stretford & Co is leaking to the media, it seems to me that they know that United isnt going to be mugged on this one.

Having a grumpy Shrek sat in the stands or benched for two years while you pay him £200K a week then lose him for nothing is not exactly a "win" for United though.
IMO it would be a far better situation than selling him to Chelsea.
