I think people are trying to get a rise out of her because she actually responds.

Wayne never replies so i think a few are hoping to provoke her so far that she's gonna say something Wayne would regret.

What is Twitter's policy towards comments like that? Is the only recourse open to the recipient that of blocking the offending person after the fact?

Those sort of tweets don't have a place in this debate at all, Colleen in general doesn't really.

Very possible, although bringing a mans family into things is really low.

Spot on.

I agree, but i was just pointing out that if he has asked for a transfer and we make him stay, he knows that a lot of fans really, really hate him and have been personally abusing his wife and children.

If he never wanted to leave at all and the press have made a lot of it up off the back of Fergie's comments, he's now had to sit there and watch the United fans turn on him.

If Rooney becomes a problem in the dressing room he can always be sent on a long vacation or forced to train alone. The club has the ultimate trump card if he descends to that level of childishness since it is a World Cup year.

From the pics i've seen of him training etc since the Fergie quote, i think he's alright within the dressing room. Always seems to be laughing and joking with people. I think the players are probably professional enough to understand the situation and realise that most players want to move at some point, doubt they'd hold it against him, especially as all the stuff about him has been in the press.

Having said that, you seen the abuse Coleen's been getting on Twitter? Some of it is pretty horrendous. Even if he wanted to stay and it was all bollocks, the fans have made it clear they don't want him.

Stating the obvious, but they aren't fans, really. Sure, they're the type of morons that newspapers will tell us are representative of the fans, but they are not; they're fecktards. To be honest, never mind players' families, I can't imagine proper supporters even getting involved in slanging matches with journalists who commit the terrible crime of getting a transfer story wrong...all these idiots want is to vent at somebody without repercussions.

Coleen, to her credit, has dealt with those fools well; besides, even if she did want her husband to play in London, it's their business entirely.

He said it was banter and apologised to Colleen, people seem to hate him now but there's no need to bring his kids into it.

With the obvious exception of Piers morgan who deserves everything he gets

It started off playful really, stuff like 'Don't go round Terry's house when you move to London', 'what's your favourite song from Shrek' and stuff, but then it quickly devolved into just straight out abuse.

One guy was commenting on pictures of her kids taking the piss out of them, which for me is just bang out of order whether they're a celebrity or not.

I totally agree with you, no need to bring his kids into it, if anybody did the same to my kids, I would hunt them down.

Weird one. Friend of wife on facebook who is a chef just put a status saying he is cooking for wayne rooney. He is head chef in restaurant. He joked that his restaurant is near chelsea, but it's actually Kings Langley... which I'm pretty certain is closer to arsenal...

Is it really that weird for a rich English person to go out for a meal in London?

This. It sort of happened with Tevez as well where people suddenly decided to completely revise their opinion of him after he left and the same has been happening with Rooney for a while now. The hatred plus the chance that he might be off is going to lead to some massive rewriting of history with respect to Rooney. It's a little hard to believe the amount of hate our player gets.

Not sure it was the same with Tevez. If anything it was the over way around. He was never all that for us, but once he left we had people moaning about how we should have done more to keep him, how much better we were with "Ronaldo and Tevez".

Rooney has been fantastic for us and it'll be painful to see him at another club. Especially when he hits peak form.

David Moyes in frantic Wayne Rooney phone plea as Chelsea prepare second bid for Man United man

By Simon Mullock
20 July 2013

Wayne Rooney has moved closer to leaving Manchester United – despite a series of transworld telephone calls from David Moyes.

The new United boss has failed to pacify the England striker and Chelsea are now poised to return with a new £25million bid for the striker.

The Blues are determined to get their man and are likely to raise their bid to the £30m mark if necessary.

Moyes called Rooney last week to assure him that he doesn’t regard him as solely an understudy to Robin van Persie.

But the United boss would NOT give the 26-year-old guarantees that he will play in his favoured role as a central striker.

And, unless there is a dramatic change in the way Moyes plans to use Rooney, it seems certain the player will press for a move from Old Trafford.

A United insider said: “The manager has spoken to Wayne on the phone and told him he does not see him as Van Persie’s understudy.

“But Wayne wants assurances that he will play in his favourite position – and that was something the manager couldn’t give.

“The impasse between player and manager hasn’t been resolved, but they are still talking.”

Moyes continues to insist that Rooney will not be sold – even though United have no plans to offer a new contract to a player who is now in the final two years of his current deal.

Rooney was sent home from United’s tour of the Far East and Australia to have treatment for a hamstring injury.

Yesterday, he was pictured leaving a Manchester clinic after further tests on his hamstring.

He's 27. Try to get the basic fecking facts right.

Edit: Feck sake, decorativeed.

Good luck with that £25 million bid Chelsea.

Seeing as this transfer is so public how about Dave responds with soem very frank Glaswegian at his next press conference?

It is neither enough to represent a hostile bid nor in line with Mourinho's bluster and Rooney's ego.

No written transfer request submitted, a direct rival in the Premier League and the CL, six weeks of the window remaining, Chelsea are just wasting perfectly good paper. They'd do better to give Wayne a sheet with a crayon and ask him to draw a picture of the stadium he wishes to play in next season.

Wayne Rooney believes Alex Ferguson has influence at Manchester United

By Jamie Jackson[/size

Wayne Rooney's belief that Sir Alex Ferguson remains among the key power brokers at Manchester United is a fundamental reason why the striker wants to leave the club.

While Ferguson may actually have no material influence on how David Moyes views Rooney's value to his squad, it is understood that the forward's perception is that the former manager will be among the loudest voices at United, despite retiring as manager last season.

Although Moyes insists he wants the unsettled Rooney to stay at Old Trafford and is not for sale, the 27-year-old remains intent on leaving. Rooney's relationship with Ferguson broke down during the final season of the Scot's tenure, with the striker seeking a meeting towards the end of the campaign about his future. During the discussion, Rooney suggested that if he would continue to be played out of position and not be selected for United's major games, he may seek a move.

Ferguson subsequently claimed that Rooney had made an official transfer request then, though United now accept this did not occur. However, with Ferguson having driven Moyes's appointment – Sir Alex invited him to his house to break the news – and with the former manager now on United's board, Rooney is of the opinion that this may adversely affect any hopes he had of re-establishing himself as a first-choice force at Old Trafford.

In summary we have sentiments purported to come from Wayne which on the one hand undermine the present manager and on the other carry negativity aimed at his predecessor.
