MOURINHO ON ROONEY BID

Posted on: Wed 17 Jul 2013

Following Wednesday's win against Singha All-Stars in Bangkok, Jose Mourinho spoke about a bid made by Chelsea to sign Wayne Rooney.
The Chelsea manager confirmed that a written offer to Manchester United for the transfer of the striker had been made but that no other players are part of the offer.
'Chelsea is interested in this player, made a bid and what we did we did officially,' Mourinho said.
'Now we have nothing more to say, we want the player, we made the bid and now it is up to Man United.
'We don't want to make public the bid but it is just a certain amount of money and it doesn't involve players or players in the possibility of negotiation. No Juan Mata, no David Luiz.'
Mourinho added that he did not know Man United's response to the bid.
'Now I keep trying to improve my players and we will see what happens.
'From me no more comments with respect to Man United, my colleague David Moyes and my players.
'I trust my players and I am happy with them and in this bid I want to be respectful.'
The Chelsea boss was then asked if the club had made other bids, to which Mourinho replied: "No, and we won't."
He was then asked whether it is now "Rooney or bust", replying: "yes."

So Torres worth 50. Rooney worth 20.

Imagine how angry and confused Wayne must be by that.

It's because he wants to be with his bezzie Ashley really......get their phones out.

They obviously will make another bid. Wonder what they'll go to, though? £25 million?

Even Chelsea wouldn't be dumb enough to go in with £20mil. There are starting offers... and there are actual starting offers. That's just insulting.

Not really. I dont see Rooney going for more than 35mil even though its not a fair price for him. A bid of 20mil is reasonable. A 25mil opening bid would be appropriate but its just 5mil less.

I think Chelsea are going to try and low ball us for this one. I'm expecting a transfer request from Rooney soon as well the force the issue. Stretford will make this very public and very messy to try and get us to accept a bid.

This transfer has an air of inevitability about it. I always thought he was angling for a move to Chelsea when he wanted to move last time and it looks like he might finally get his wish.

Anyone who thinks he will flop at Chelsea needs to have a real think. He'll have quality players looking to play him in. If he goes there, he'll be top class. I can see United running down his contract and letting him leave on a free in two years.

No

I think he meant other bids for other players. Don't think he was talking about other bids for Rooney, because the way Mourinho said in that presser sounded like Rooney is their main transfer target and they'll do a lot to get him.

Wayne Rooney has nothing to prove? Every player has something to prove every season, particularly a player that has fallen out of favour because he has been under par in his performances.

Indeed. He has to prove he is worth £1 million per month.

I think that would be quite reasonable if the only offer for him is around £20million.

We would get £20million next year with one year left on his contract, probably more because I doubt he will look as bad as he did last season.

I would much prefer it to be sorted this window though, so hopefully Chelsea significantly raise their bid, or Suarez to Madrid falls through.

£20m? I'd rather let him rot in the reserves than sell him to Chelsea for that.

Can't help thinking Chelsea are bidding for Rooney to try and cause a shit storm at the club. Rooney needs to calm down and come out of confusion and make it clear to the public what he wants so we can draw a line under the whole saga.

To be fair i don't think anyone gives a shit what Rooney wants from this point forth.

I think it's quite clear he wants out.

Christ. Rooney isnt confused at all. He wants out. He's very clear about it.

I'd very much look forward to life without Rooney. I wasn't angry the first time, then this summer he Pissed me off. I calmed down recently and was prepared to accept him back but Nah he can do one if he thinks he's Mr Special.

Yeah, totally agree with ya here GM. Sooner he's out the better. As long as he doesn't go to Chelsea.

Martin Lipton on Talksport right now:

"Rooney feels that he has been treated like a non-person."

"Chelsea are incandescent with rage at United."

Woodward thought to be heading home to pursue Fabregas deal.

Chelsea looking to sign Gustavo from Bayern.

Next year's title to be a two horse race between City and Chelsea.

Why the feck are Chelsea angry?

For us apparently leaking their sneaky bid to ditch 2 of their main players into the deal!

We should be pissed they think they can sign Torres for 50m, and get Rooney for under half!

We're still in a strong position as his contract runs out in 2 years only. There is no club willing to wait 2 years for a player so a club either offers silly money or Rooney shuts up and gets going.
I dont want him to leave, especially not to a PL rival. But if he wants out, there is not much we can do. So let's get Mata in, Rooney out, and hope he does a Torres

Serves them right for having the nerve to bid £20m for Rooney. I piss that much every morning.

Who cares if Chelsea are angry. Mr Mourinho is so respectful that he's been openly talking about this deal, respect my arse.

Classic tapping up this, hence the hilarious timing for Rooney's camp to go public last night. This is being handled awfully by Chelsea and Rooney.

We should release a statement saying we have accepted a deal of £20 million plus Mata, just for the feck of it. The whole of Chelsea would explode.

Very likely United have planned for Rooney's departure. Lewandowski, and a few others have been strongly linked over the last year.

We get linked to everyone, sign no one. We'd be "very close" to Lewa before losing out to Munich.

We can't afford to lose Rooney because there really isn't anyone out there to replace him.

How about a fag machine with a drinks dispenser?

And, yes, I am only messing about.

Did we directly replace Scholes/Keane/Ronaldo/etc? If Rooney goes, we can get in a quality winger/AM and we're golden.
