I don't whether that's speculation on his part or he knows we were behind it.

If this does actually originate from Rooney the choice of words are interesting.

After 9 year he doesn't need to prove anything? That attitude has no place at Utd and if its really how it feels I'd argue its the reason we're in the situation we're in. The fact that Real, Barca etc aren't exactly lining up for him should maybe tell him something.

That said, I think he's tailor made for Chelsea and if we sell to them, be it for 25 or 35 million I think it will be a huge mistake, if only in the short term.

Could be, i remember Raphael Honigstein saying that he couldn't envisage German clubs making a move for Rooney on account of his poor professionalism and suspect attitude.

How do his proponents respond to that claim? Do they too believe that he no longer has to keep proving anything at this sate in his career?

It's pretty damning and perhaps the greatest stupidity of all.

So the fact everyone is saying it's happened and it's all over every major news outlet it hasn't happened because you say so?

Yes? I'm not asking you to base your opinion on what I believe, but I'm going to believe in what I think is the case. Do I think the story is true? No, not really.

I don't deny they might have made a bid, but I don't believe they offered us a choice of 10 million with either Mata or Luiz because in my mind it doesn't make sense at all.

Hehe.

Does anyone think Mata and Carrick could provide the base of our team in a 4231?

I don't think Mata can fill that role, and that type of midfielder we need.

I'd love to swap Mata for Rooney+£20m cash but its disingenuous to say that helps solve any of our midfield issues.

I think you're swimming against the tide lad.

We must have leaked it.

Nah shitty journalist making shit up again. They've been on about Mourinho wanting to get rid of Mata and Luiz so tried to fit that into this story somehow to give them more credibility.

This is turning into a soap opera.

Chelsea strongly deny offering any player to United. They made a cash bid which was rejected. They're furious with Utd. Statement imminent.

To clarify #cfc angry that two of their players have been thrown into the mix, which they blame on Utd. Insist Mata &. Luiz will both stay.

Expect Mourinho to be very outspoken later and likely to criticise United. This will run and run. #rooney
This should be fun. :D

Anyone who's ever played FM knows they're denying it so Mata and Luiz don't get upset.

So, no Mata :( Another transfer saga ending.

Maureen would be furious. Let the mind games begin!

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that yesterday it made a written offer to Manchester United for the transfer of Wayne Rooney.
"Although the terms of the offer are confidential, for avoidance of doubt and contrary to what is apparently being briefed to the press in Sydney, the proposed purchase price does not include the transfer or loan of any players from Chelsea to Manchester United."

If we're going to go HAM on them, at least tag on PS. feck Chelsea.

They're pissed off right now

Why it's so confidential if it was just a cash deal? Just trying to keep their camp happy Chelsea. Mata/Luiz angry and confused right about now.

Where is David fecking Gill to steady the ship when you need him? This transfer window is turning into a serial drama!

Was always a ridiculous rumour - why on earth would we sell our best player? The numbers alone rated Mata as worth 5 million less than we paid for him - absurd.

Ship him off abroad if we must/he desires but do what it takes to keep him away from any competing Premier League side.

We are playing silly games it seems, this is not us. We don't do all this shite through the media.

I don't see why the club would have leaked that info if it wasn't true. Unless United are on a massive troll to wind Chelsea up and destabilise them.

This is quite an entertaining story, enjoying this.

I wouldn't sell Rooney to Chelsea for cash only. feck Chelsea, and feck Rooney. It will be hard enough to defend the title without helping strengthen our biggest rivals.

Chelsea are furious despite the fact their manager has been talking about our player in the media quite openly?

feck off. Sell him to Madrid for a fiver just to piss them off even more.

Taste of own medicine comes to mind.

These are his official stats for the entire season:

Juan Mata 12-13
Total Games - 60 (15 from sub)
Total Goals - 21
Total Assists - 29

60 Games - 50 goals scored/assisted

So yeah, including all competitions he has scored/assisted 50 times in a single season.
That counts internationals as well. I'm not sure what he did against Tahiti should really factor into this.

Ok so Rooney on his own, bearing in mind it's Chelsea who are in for him, value?

I wouldn't sell for any less than £40m to another PL team.
