Yes? I'm not asking you to base your opinion on what I believe, but I'm going to believe in what I think is the case. Do I think the story is true? No, not really.

I don't deny they might have made a bid, but I don't believe they offered us a choice of 10 million with either Mata or Luiz because in my mind it doesn't make sense at all.

I agree. In the form presented it makes no sense whatsoever. We offer you ten mill and Mata. Or Luiz. The choice is yours.

Maybe Mata has grown a Luiz style hairdo over the summer break - and the journo who got wind of the story had trouble seeing who was actually dragged into Maureen's office?

I like how it was a choice between Mata and Luiz, as if any sane person would choose Luiz instead. It's almost as though they themselves realised how batshit mental the Mata offer was.

First Chelsea went mental and lost their mind with this offer, then our board went clinically retarded and rejected.

Far from it, if that's Chelsea's first offer for Rooney then our board are right to decline it. Just think what their 2nd or even 3rd offer could be! Good move imo.

Well as long as Mata is still included in any following bids.

We would be mental to reject an offer of 10m + Mata.

We are crying out for a left sided player, and this guy is one the best.

Problem I see is that we would need to replace Rooney with another forward.

We have other forwards, but we definitely need players like Mata far more. Mata can play in the hole, on the left, or in the centre. Would be madness to reject that offer in my view. Admittedly sounds very bullshitty though, irrespective that rumours suggesting Mourinho doesn't fancy Mata started well before today.

So the fact everyone is saying it's happened and it's all over every major news outlet it hasn't happened because you say so?

If you're a human being capable of free will, thought and common sense, why does it matter who's reporting it? Ask yourself if the deal makes sense at all :wenger: It doesn't matter if the entire world is reporting it, until I actually see confirmation of this from any of the parties involve, it's BS to me. I'm sure even the most reputable news sources have gotten things mixed up or wrong before.

We don't know. But if it is, I'm wondering whether Woodward actually knows anything about football.

Of course he does.........Hes the equalizer....right?

fecking hell, how on Earth we refused that offer. Mata is one of the best player in the league and easily a 30m player. I don't know if Chelsea were more insane for making that offer or we were more retarded for rejecting it.

They have an embarrassment of attacking mid's now perhaps they don't value him as much as other club same thing with Barca and cm's if they did bid using Mata this won't be the last bid.

We were always unlikely to accept the first offer. Could you imagine if Barcelona accepted ours and we got Fabregas for £25 million? No, both clubs testing the waters

Who does Rooney want to leave? He wanted us to sign better players back in 2010, and now he's angry because we have better players than him in the team?

I like how it was a choice between Mata and Luiz, as if any sane person would choose Luiz instead. It's almost as though they themselves realised how batshit mental the Mata offer was.

That's what makes this even more unbelievable. Why on earth would they throw in Luiz too? it's retarded and I fail to believe it, regardless of the sources the are reporting it.

Are well all allowed to just make stuff up and state is as a fact now?

Manchester United offered RVP and twelvty billion for Mikel. Chelsea turned it down.

No, I'm just taking what the news is saying, I shouldn't of posted it so factually.

Mou : "Twelvty billion? We'll take it!"

Sorry yeah, it's Moyes decision alright.

Only makes sense from the point that the players in question seem surplus to requirements at their respective clubs. Financially though, doesn't make any sense at all for Chelsea.

Have they offered mata or luiz??

They have offered "a player" it could actually be anyone, but these seems to be the names the press have picked up.

What is pretty much certain is that we have recieved a bid of £10million + a player from Chelsea, and we have rejected it.

What is also certain is that if (big if) that player is Mata, then the world is mental in so many different and uncomfortable ways.

Oh come on. Testing the waters by offering us arguably the best player in the league last season?

Everyone's reporting it and there have been whispers about Mourinho wanting to sell Mata.

We can turn it down since we aren't half as desperate as Chelsea are, who badly need a striker. Why make their preparations easier by letting Rooney join up with them now? Lets play hard ball and take this one all the way to deadline day.

This saga is becoming more and more ridiculous:lol:

The most embarrassing fact is that it's not exactly Ronaldo or Messi who's involved here. It's Wayne-fecking-Rooney! He's not that good. Him leaving United will hardly make the universe implode.

I think people are so interested in this because Wayne sadly is an icon you think about when you hear 'Manchester United'. Him playing for a differnt club is just something you can't imagine. Oh, and he's one of the biggest English profiles, so there's that..

Apologies Crackers, I see that offer is on the BBC site and not something mental you just invented.

I'd be disgusted if we gave you Mata and cash for Rooney.

Rightly so, it's a mental deal. I'm hoping just as much as you there's no truth in it, because if there is this place will meltdown in rage for rejecting it.

From SkyBet:
"Relations are starting to appear irreparable and we have now installed Chelsea as the favourites for the Premier League at 9/4, which would shorten significantly if they secure Rooney's services."

It would be madness to sell Rooney to Chelsea. But if Mourinho is offering Mata, then why not bid for him outright (and keep Rooney) ???

I actually didn't know that. I thought it was a bullish rumour!
We seriously can't be that retarded, can we?

I wake up and see Coleen is replying to all the abuse she's getting on Twitter about Wayne. Fair enough.

Then i see we've turned down a bid of £10m + Mata? If we did this we're retarded.

They probably wont be willing to do business with us if we don't accept their offer for Rooney

Mourinho has a press conference today. Will probably get an update then.
