On the BBC now as well I see. Please don't tell me there are Rooney fans claiming this is all another made-up press story like last time?

I think if that quote from Moyes was accurate then Rooney is probably justified in feeling pissed off after having spent nine years at a club to be told your a back up for the new guy. No-one would like that man.

Is it reasonable to conclude that both United and Rooney wish to part ways, but Rooney doesn't want to hand in an official transfer request because he'd lose his loyalty bonus, and United don't want to sell him unless he hands in an official transfer request?

That comment from Moyes was calculated and pointed.

That was the club telling Rooney enough with the shit, you're a player on a team, act like it or get the feck out.

And the message was received.

Rooney is now throwing a fit.

This feels all very Tevez like to me. Then, the club gave Tevez enough rope to hang himself. And he did.
That's the point though. What was Rooney doing over all those meetings? If there was a message, he should have taken it and actively pursued other clubs. But the official message was Rooney won't be sold and there wasn't any comment from his side this time round.
Now with the latest Moyes comment, he is suddenly unsure. The feck was the point of the meeting.

That and the matter of not saying re're willing to sell so as not to reduce the fee we can get for him. Am pretty sure he's off. Hopefully abroad.

I like the way Moyes is being honest with his players, he hasn't bullshitted him by saying 'Yeah Wayne, you want to play up top that's fine, I will drop RVP'.

Sadly I think this will be it for Rooney.

I can't imagine him in another kit - so it will be quite sad to see him in the PL with another team (potentially).

If Moyes actually did say
"Overall, my thought on Wayne is, if for any reasons we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we'll need him.

then Rooney was right to say
he believes he is at the peak of his career and has no intention of becoming a squad rotation player or by playing second fiddle to anyone at Old Trafford. "He believes he has nothing left to prove after nine successful seasons

And I'm already starting to get annoyed with Moyes myself.

I'm not sure about the authenticity of SSN's report or their sources and I'm not sure what's going on in Rooney's mind or how the club is handling this whole situation but if he's going to be creating such drama every couple of years or so, I've got only one thing to say to him. As the King of Pop would say, 'it doesn't matter who's wrong or right, just beat it.'

I get why Moyes made that statement but it wasn't well thought out. I mean we probably need Rooney regardless, but he is doubly important if Van Persie is injured.

It's not just SSN. It's the Guardian and the BBC as well. Just like yesterday's Fabregas story was given to the media by United, this was given to the media by Rooney's agent, PR, whatever.

Frankly I'm disgusted by him. Even if he struggled to accept Moyes's half comment, he should be saying and thinking 'right, I'll show him what I'm worth'. But he's not, he think he's earned his place and shouldn't do it anymore.

There's a way of doing things with a degree of subtlety and compassion.

Exactly. It was probably intended that way but came across in a way that the tabs could easily twist to look more malicious than it was.

The manager should choose the better player, not the player Roney fanboys respect more. And great for you to be annoyed with the new manager after he is only two weeks in the job. Well done!

Ah, in that case, he's wrong and we're right and he should still beat it.

He also said ""I want to be able to play the two of them". Not that anyone cares. Rooney's just looking for an excuse.

True but then he also said he wants to play Welbeck and Hernandez, so can't say if he was just saying something generic about including everyone or if he meant his aim is to play both of them. But one thing was clear was that he was back up to RVP, probably true but seemed a bit inflammatory whether intentional or not.

I really don't care about this any more. I don't even care if he goes to Chelsea or City or wherever.
You don't care that we will give our rival a helping hand in beating us next season?

Why?

I would prefer to see him see out his contract and leave for free in 2 years.

Did he? where is the full interview?

Moyes said: 'Overall my thought on Wayne is that if for any reason we get an injury to Robin van Persie we are going to need him.'
'Wayne has a major role to play because we need to try and get him as many goals as we possibly can.
'Wayne can play up-top, I think he can play dropped in'
'I want to be able to play the two of them, I want to be able to use Danny Welbeck, Chicharito [Javier Hernandez] as well.'
'I want to try and give myself as many options as possible”

Everything points to Rooney leaving because he wants to leave while at the same time trying to blame everybody else.
Did SAF lie when he said Rooney asked for a transfer?
Was it me or did Rooney look like a man feeling sorry for himself while the rest of the team were enjoying the title celebrations.
Keep hearing stories from sources close to Rooney that he has been, is being mistreated by Manchester United.
Why does Wayne Rooney not come out and tell us all exactly how he feels and what he wants.
One thing I am sure about is he will not be a Manchester United player for long.

Im with Moyes on this. Rooney needs to know his place. If he doesnt like it he can feck off. Players are replaceable. He has been acting like a prima donna for ages now. If Rooney is so thin skinned and so insecure he cant handle Moyes comment then he really has lost the plot. Rooney needs to harden up and let his football do the talking and stop the " everyone should bow to me" attitude.
Just sell him.

I'm not saying that playing for a rival is what I want or anything, I'm just sick of this saga. I wouldn't dislike Rooney any more if he played elsewhere in the PL, just as I wouldn't like him any more if he stayed with us and started kissing the badge again. I'm done giving giving a shit about superstar footballers and their so-called problems. I'll watch the matches and that's it.

Who knows? But the outcome of the meeting was that the club felt they had to make a statement that he wasn't going anywhere and to get in line.

I'm not arsed if I like them at all as a person. Can't say I've ever liked Rooney as a human being if I'm honest.

I am arsed about helping out direct rivals.

Indeed, even if we get the same Rooney as last season for the next 2 years its still a good option to have.

The only problem with letting him go as a free agent is that we have no say over where he would go to and I'd hate to see another United player, especially one who by that time could be the top goal scorer playing for City.

Taking the comment as part of the entire interview, it's clear that he was talking about needing Wayne more if RVP gets injured because he will pick up his goals.

Rooney's just using this to get his own way again. Flirt the fat cnut off.

If this is correct, which it seems to be as it looks to be leaked, then he can get fecked. He played around with us last time, and I'm quite confident that was about getting more money. He then said it was about ambition, which was completely idiotic at a club like ours and with SAF at the helm. We did however sign a top star, and Rooney goes sour again.

Hopefully for a lot of cash and to a club abroad.

But at least he is 2 years older and also it's not something the club could control. Like when Tevez went to City.

But the thoughts of the club agreeing a transfer with City, Chelsea or Arse sickens me. I said earlier it would be one of the lowest moments for me in supporting the club,

If we were to sell him now we could control it. Let him go for less euros if he fecks off to Europe.

I was upset in 2010 when he wanted to leave the first time. I just can't be bothered this time. Let him go, use the money to invest in the squad (winger and a central midfielder), we have enough players who can play in his position.

Imagine the criticism moyes would get if we sold Rooney to City when SAF refused to sell them Heinze.

It would be the worst imaginable start for him as manager IMO. If he goes he has to go out of the country.

If he goes and we have an under par season, who is to say other players might start getting their heads turned. We could turn into Arsenal.

I think I'm panicking a bit...
