What exactly would you have done differently?

Everything should have been done behind closed doors everyone and their mother has an opinion now. All the he said, she said and speculation is annoying, our loyalty is too the club but imagine Wayne has handled himself professionally the whole time. He still gave his all on the pitch (fitness issues notwithstanding) The majority of fans can't stand him and everyday their is a new story. If I was him the only option is to leave.

Until now I've understood his silence on the "transfer request" because it becomes a war of words or he said/she said deal if he tries to give his side on the dealings with Fergie at the end of the season. He'd end up losing that battle both with the club and fans.

However, if after these latest comments are not at the least refuted by his reps at the very least - then to me the sky "sources" will become a lot more believable. There is absolutely no upside to him staying silent on this latest story and zero downside for publicly coming out unless the story is true.

Guess I do hope his side puts the kibosh on this latest story some how as I think he will be very important for us to compete on all fronts especially if we don't get a really good signing for the middle of the park. Maybe Chicha or Welbeck can make up some of the goals/assists but, Rooney like other great players give you that extra edge on the field and not sure if either of those 2 are going to replace that aspect he brings.

I reckon this is all some grand Moyes masterplan. He wanted to get rid of Rooney from the off, especially with Fergie's feelings known about it, but needed it to come from Wayne's side so he doesn't risk upsetting a lot of the fans by selling him, as would have been the case. Wayne also hasn't said anything at all on it because he doesn't want to hand in the transfer request and lose out on the money, despite definitely wanting to leave. Moyes says outright Rooney will stay and doesn't entertain the idea United will sell him, we now know where he stands. Suddenly, for no real reason he starts talking about not letting the club be about Wayne and in the same speech talks about being absolutely willing to run down a players contract, and then adds in the bit about using Wayne as cover for RVP. Wayne has to come out and respond to that, and thus makes it known he is not happy with the club, and the job is sorted. Moyes gets to sell Wayne, it looks like it's all his fault basically (he is a feck head anyway), and no-one will blame Moyes over it as ideally he would have kept him as he said (not really).

The Mafia did it. I'll buy into Hectic's conspiracy theory.

And you think the Illuminati is implausible?

We will get rid, about that I have little doubt. He has been a fantastic servant to the club, there's no point in denying it. For now I can't really see too many destinations for a transfer... Rooney will want to go to London, most likely Chelsea, but even Arsenal could be in the running (there have been rumblings IIRC a while ago, though they died away before the window opened)... from the other top/sugar daddy clubs, only Monaco and Real might be in for a striker, so Rooney's and our options, if we insist on a sale abroad, are pretty limited.

We will cope, Manchester United have always been bigger than a single player. But it would severly reduce our chances to retain the title if we sell to Chelsea, he would be amazing there IMHO. Let's not kid ourselves, he's still a top class player.

That's not how everyone sees it though (in recent times - no-one could doubt his efforts & enthusiasm in past times).

How many times are we going to see the "left out of a number of key games" bullshit? He was left out of 1, and that was Madrid because his fitness and form were shocking. The rest he was either injured or recovering so its all horseshit.
But it was one of the biggest games to be left out of. Many of us predicted it would lead to a summer of speculation that night.

It's proved to be the case.

You don't think there is a reason that may have happened? perhaps he feels unwanted so his effort has dropped.

Well that just isn't true. He scored a great goal against Norwich the weekend before that game, and generally looked very good all around and was picking up some form before that as well. I think that was during his run of good goalscoring form as well where he picked up once RVP went on his drought.

He's been a professional footballer for years; it's not like he's been left out of his school sports day team.

Sky's massive sensationalism is irritating. Just the way this gimp is delivering the Rooney news is hilarious.

Oh my god 'Barcelona have a big decision to make over Fabregas, do they sell him, or do they keep him?'

You don't say you massive dipshit!

I'm guessing that was Bryan Swanson, the massive tool.

It is true. He scored a great goal but his touch and passing were all over the place. His best form came before Christmas, he was excellent against City when he scored twice and was very good against Newcastle earlier on and he may have scored a decent number of goals but his overall play has been average at best. I've been very underwhelmed with his form this season gone. He was left out against Madrid quite rightly.

Well you'd have to say you'd expect some kind of response, effectively calling Rooney backup, although mentioning he wanted to play the two off them. I'd like to think he meant more than Rooney is important as, as well as being a number 10 he can also easily convert back to a number 10, but his phrasing seemed more cutting. It's a weird one, we still don't know if he did make a transfer request or if it was a heat of the moment/mis-understanding. If I had to evaluate what I think the club are doing now it would probably be to force him to hand in a transfer request if he does want to leave. Could be he's due bonuses if he's sold without it.

He's kept quiet publicly though so hard to say but you'd have to think if the club do want to keep him, the comments seem odd. Could only really be questionable for him in the way it sounded and we already know that Rooney with his mind unfocused can be a bit of a liability.

So the fact your not getting on with your manager and your being played all over the place to accommodate others shouldn't affect him??

wr8, I'm starting to get genuinely concerned over how hard this is going to hit you.

I have a friend from uni who thinks the same way. He was mad on SAF last season for benching Rooney against Madrid and was happy when SAF retired because he was treating Rooney unfair. It's hilarious that some people's loyalty are to a player, not to the club.

I can see both parties' sides. But, after several meetings with the new manager, Rooney remains unsatisfied & unhappy. So, where's the transfer request?

With my muppet hat well and truly on....

It'd be fun if we sold Rooney and signed Bale

I can't see him leaving and I can't see us offering a new contract. We'll either let him run it down or sell him next year. It's definitely not worth selling him now to rivals, unless it's a ridiculous fee. Even then, who do we get in? Let's not forget City/Arsenal/Chelsea and maybe Madrid all could do with a top quality striker.

Rooney's a right pruck though.

Bye Rooney. Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out!

I can't see anyway back from this tbh. He is out for sure (IMO).

Sell him for 5m too. That'll hurt his fecking ego!

It would be a huge waste of money but would be funny to just see him sit in the stands or whatever and be wasted for a couple years. He of course could buy out his contract but I wouldn't be fussed if he did that.

The strangest thing the random man said in sky was that Rooney was angry that the meeting with Moyes never took place before pre-season, whereas Moyes said they've had various meetings and been to each other's houses etc.

Seeing as we're all ITK/theorists, I'll put it out that Chelsea have made an offer to Rooney's camp which will see him actually earn £250k a week plus about a billion quid to his agents and they're wanting to push through a move by contacting Sky's random man to air it on TV and ensure the information is sent around the world.

I don't know, I'm bored.

Well Wayne has a habit of lying, as the past couple of years has shown. But noooo, it's big bad SAF & newbie Moyes who're the liars, not Our Wayne, oh nooo-

Everyone said:
That's enough, Steve, for feck's sake give it a rest.

Doh.

But I'm sure they believe they can be relied upon if he gets injured? That is what Moyes basically said about Rooney.

Oh, I see. Makes more sense, but I still doubt these comments are of any real concern to them. I'm sure they understand their important roles, and are probably aware that whatever Moyes says at the moment is all about manouvering in the Rooney situation.

Hilarious. Is this the best Wayne's crew can come up with? Moyes was dead right when he said RVP was first choice and he wanted Wayne "to play along side him". Rooney now has the hump because he is not number 1, this after him threatening to walk over the clubs lack of ambition. The club proved its ambition by buying RVP. Now Wayne should prove his ambition by beating RVP and becoming our top striker again. Its beginning to look like Wayne is becoming too big for his boots.

For whatever reasons maybe, that comment from Moyes was a loaded one and avoidable. But Rooney is daft as they come. I don't know what those talks with Moyes yielded for him.

That comment from Moyes was calculated and pointed.

That was the club telling Rooney enough with the shit, you're a player on a team, act like it or get the feck out.

And the message was received.

Rooney is now throwing a fit.

This feels all very Tevez like to me. Then, the club gave Tevez enough rope to hang himself. And he did.

None of the parties in this saga will come out looking good, Rooney for his habits that have led to the club seeking to push him out and SAF/Moyes for so publicly putting out comments about a player.

I don't think he wants to he cares about his image I would assume though it is obvious it can only end one way.

On the BBC now as well I see. Please don't tell me there are Rooney fans claiming this is all another made-up press story like last time?
