Yeah and we were taking the right stance by saying he wasn't for sale and driving the price up. Pretty clear days later that he's for sale to anybody reading those Moyes quotes, he basically said he's going to be lacing V.Persie's boots all season. It was just needless imo.

Time to feck him off anyway, sooner the better because there's no chance of him staying now.
Again, you seem to be taking the angle that this is Uniteds fault!

I'm happy for us to sell Rooney, preferably to PSG or Monaco and then we can go and sign Ronaldo and have a real team of giants.

I am fine with selling him to anyone but Chelsea and City

Chelsea will probably offer the biggest fee, they are desperate for a striker and Cavani/Lewandowski/Falcao are all now off the market. If they offered anything close to £40million we should snap their hand off.

I can't see any of the Continental teams offering close to that, PSG may have but not that Cavani has signed that ship has sailed.

Yeah. David Moyes recent statement passed almost unnoticed on the Caf, but I thought it was quite controversial. I'm not surprised Rooney reacted.

Agree with this. Moyes comment was bizarre. You cannot expect a player of Rooney's ability to only play when RVP is injured. He wants to go, so let him go. He's gone stale here and a change will do him good. Just sell him anywhere bar City or Chelsea.

I'm guessing not - wouldn't he miss out on a financial windfall if he did?

If he really wants to go to Chelsea he'll have to make a push to see that change come about.

He might also want to consider dropping a year off the deal he is said to have been offered, that 12 million would push their bid well into the 40s.

I might think he's an enormous cnut, but I still rate him. We'll regret selling him to Chelsea, it's the very position Chelsea need strengthening in.

I don't think the club is keen on keeping rooney anymore, at least that's the vibe i'm getting from moyes, and i don't think rooney wants to stay either, he'd come out and make it clear if he wants to, so there's only one outcome to this, I think he's gone.

The interesting part is, commercially rooney is still our front man, it's a hell of job trying to find a name like him.

I'm fine with rooney leaving footballing wise, but it adds even more pressure on moyes, we keep hearing that the club intends to make a big statement to support moyes but at this inflated market i don't think it's gonna happen, we could do without this nonsense specially this summer.

It's over for him at our club.

I still think he is a top player despite never quite developing into the Messi/Ronaldo that was expected. The question is how do we go about replacing him? I don't think we will be able to.

He said he wanted to play them together, and if RVP was injured he'd need Rooney. Seems like he didn't insinuate a sub/back-up role, if he mentioned playing them as a pair.

Who will we replace Rooney with? We should have got rid of him in June(assuming all the stories are true) and been in for the likes of Cavani.

Kagawa and a winger with a genuine goal threat I say. I'd would pay 60 odd for Bale now certainly.

Chelsea is the only viable option I'd say.

Real and Barca don't need him. PSG have signed Cavani and Monaco signed Falcao. Really leaves only Chelsea and Erm Arsenal.

Re: Moyes comments.

If in making that statement the club is able to move forward from this impasse it was in, then it is probably all to the good.

A great player on his day and under SAF I got the feeling he was stale. When Moyes took over, I hoped it would be the platform for Rooney to find some new motivation and kick on as a player, back to his best. If he really has said this in the context it comes across as, then I hope we sell him. I don't care who to, but he needs to leave.
If he went to Chelsea I think he will thrive, but we can't help that!

Am amazed they arent in for him. He'd be a big upgrade on what they have and if they let higuain go, they'd recoup a lot of what they pay too.

I honestly feel his pain. The poor little might :( I bet he's sat there wiping tears from his eyes with £50 notes, crying into his diamond incrusted Armani teddy bear.

Maybe we should do a short video to raise awareness of his plight? Send Bono round to his house with a few minor celebrities, its about time the world saw the truth, and the way these rich footballers are struggling to cope with life. I just hope he makes it through the night.

#PrayForRooney

I don't think a video is enough, I feel a LiveAid event at Wembley Stadium is the only thing fitting to show the world the horror Wayne Rooney has been going through since he joined United. Wr8 would obviously organise any such event.

Hard to know if Mourinho would get the best out of him or they have a massive row within weeks.

We dont win though , we were sending out a message that he wasn't for sale (even if it was just to drive the price up) Moyes' 'swipe' contradicted that, it's obvious he's for sale.

Im not against selling him, im not defending his earlier request to leave but I just think the Moyes comments this week were stupid.
He's not contradicting himself. It's not supposed to be black and white. He can put Rooney in his place AND say the usual stuff you're supposed to say about players not for sale. Just because he says that rhetoric all managers do, it doesn't mean he can't emphasise his club being bigger than any player.

You're making it sound like he creates a problem for his team every month. Jose has had far worse to deal with at Chelsea and Madrid.

Well Fergie has never uttered a lie or manipulated the truth, eh?
It's laughable that if its fergie's word against Rooney's, your believe the latter.

I'm sure Rooney too has lied and manipulated the truth plenty of times too.

Do you honestly see United selling him to a PL rival?

I'm starting to think he just wants a new contract to be honest

If United give him a new contract now, that would be even worse than selling him to a PL rival. After all that big talk from Moyes about the club being more important than any player this would just send the wrong message.

Didn't you do the same in 2010? He ran his mouth, questioned United's ambitions, submitted a transfer request and got a new huge contract as a result.

That would work. I guess the point is we wouldn't actually replace Rooney. If we could get 30 odd million for Rooney, then Bale would be a real option.

Yeah, suppose not, though I'd fully expect Kagawa to be the new number ten, and I'd be pretty excited about seeing him there.
