Angry and confused? He's probably just been told that Clark Kent and Superman are the same person.

That's the flipping thing, I wish Rooney would just say 'Yeah I'd like to leave.' Then we can flog him to one of the sugar daddies abroad and avoid the circumstance of him ending up at Chelsea.

I can't see us selling him to another top prem side, unless they really think he's past saving.
Edit: That stands for form as well as attitude.

Some of us don't want to roll over and let the prick take the piss out of the club and the supporters again. You may be happy to do so, but we have a bit of pride at least.
Asking Fergie what sort of role he has in the team is taking the piss out of the club? If you stopped believing the tabloids, you'd realize that pretty much nothing has happened with this saga all summer and Rooney hasn't really done anything wrong. It's Fergie and Moyes who make their comments about him and it's us who seem to be trying to force him out with some of the comments coming out. Rooney hasn't really said anything all summer and yet people act like all he's done is publicly slag the club in the press all summer long.

He probably will now after what Moyes said, but maybe he wasn't completely sure if he wanted to leave, so he was just waiting to see how things panned out? As far as I can see, the only thing he's done this time around is Sir Alex said that he told him he wants to leave the club. Hardly acting like a dick, thinking he's bigger than the club or disrespecting the club or any other ridiculous excuses people are making to turn on him. The Rooney situation has always hit people harder then other players because everyone thought he was one of those players who would play at United for life, and he was a selfless person who sacrificed himself for the team and would play for minimal wages. Reality is, nobody is like that, whether you like it or not.

Wayne couldn't care less about where he plays as long as he's bringing in the $$$$$$$$$ Thankfully we haven't fallen for his bullshit this time and have told him we won't be renewing your contract unless you prove on the pitch you deserve it.

LOL.

"Manchester United isn't about Wayne Rooney. Manchester United is about the team - the club. I won't allow Wayne Rooney to become more important than the football club and the football team, because that's the heart of it."

And now Rooney has chucked his toys AGAIN? Hatetosayitoldyouso

Yes, if you believe SSN "sources"

Anyone else envision the scene in which Shrek discovers his swamp has been infested by various fairy tale characters with the use of the words angry and confused?

Probably on my own with this but I'm not surprised he's irritated. Moyes basically called him RvPs back-up, when Rooney has been a great player here for the past 9 years. Added to that the fact that every five minutes Moyes is commenting on his shape and fitness when not asked directly about those things.

David Moyes has everything under control. The transfers are going in the right direction and Rooney will stay.

No one with a brain cell thought that after the first incident. He is being a bit of a dick to be honest and he's not being selfless at all. Why does he want to leave? Because he's not top dog any more even though he questioned our ambition in attracting big name players? If he was such the warrior he's purported to be then he'd stop and fight for his place and he'd break the goalscoring record. Is it any coincidence he's in the best shape for years when he wants to leave? Then after Sir Alex is gone he has his camp leaking stories to the media to stress he never handed in a request but stops short of saying he wants to stay. Now this, just say you want to leave and hand in a official request.

wr8, I'm starting to get genuinely concerned over how hard this is going to hit you.

wr8 you are hilarious.

It's weird seeing someone support a player more than the club.
Not really. I'm not going to slag off and abuse our player based on nothing concrete. And even if he does want to leave after 9 years at the club, I'm not going to go into hate mode because of it.

If Arsenal get the finger out and offer £35 to £40 million, they can have him. Chelsea can feck off. And the Spanish are welcome to him for a midfielder.

Even if this is the case and doesn't want to submit a transfer request because of the money, why are people feeling so insulted about it? At the end of the day, it's his job and if he really wants to leave the club, then he shouldn't be forced to stay. He hasn't gone public with any comments all summer, the only thing we know is that he's kept everything private, which is the right thing to do.

All the shit he's been moaning about the last few month is stupid, he needs to get his head down and get back to the level of form we know he's capable of but you cant blame him for moaning about the comment Moyes made to the press last week. We apparently want him to stay, he was training well and isn't for sale...days later Moyes has a dig at him. Really poor pr from the club to be honest.

I remember his first transfer request and I trust Fergies word over Rooneys, so I believe he has asked for a move at some point if that is what Fergie said. You've got to the stage where you won't believe a single bad word said about the guy. You need to get your priorities right.

I hope we get rid of him but I really can't see it. The only team that appears to have any serious interest in him are Chelsea, and I seriously doubt we'd be stupid enough to sell him there.

Unfortunately, I think we'll end up giving the twat a new contract again near the end of the window when it becomes clear that the foreign moneybags clubs aren't interested.

We just have to hope that Real Madrid or the like come in for him or we'll end up stuck with him.

But if he goes he's stuck with a Rooneyesque username.

ever occur to you that maybe we want him out?

Naa it's all Rooney's fault.

David Moyes is his boss. He can say what he likes about his performance and it's Rooney's job to take the comments on board.

What exactly has Rooney done?

I see 400 pages of reading between the lines but nothing other than "no smoke without fire".

Well even so, what good was the swipe by Moyes? We said days earlier he's not for sale, even if that was just to drive the price up he just contradicted himself a few days later. And if we truly do want him to stay that's all but impossible now.

wr8, out of interest, what are your thoughts on Rooney doing what he is doing, or given you probably think he is not to blame right now, your thoughts on what he did in 2010, followed by the promise he made a year later? Do you not find it just a bit annoying we are back here, just over a year after he apologized to the fans for the 2010 saga and then said he would finish his career here?

But if he goes he's stuck with a Rooneyesque username.

Stuck with the username of a player who has 197 goals for Manchester United in 9 years and has been an integral part of 5 PL titles and 1 CL title? I'm not complaining.

He will just go support whoever Rooney signs for.

Yeah. Seeing all the Ronaldo fans here support Madrid will help me cope with having a second club.

Other than what the papers keep coming out with, what is it that he's moaned about?

People dubious because it Sky sources. You honestly believe it didn't come from Stretford and the rest of his team? Jesus.

I agree, it's a nagging question. Why does he want to leave? It was his fault he wasn't selected for the biggest game of the season, and until that bastard ref decided he wanted to get involved it was completely justified. He's not been fit, had injuries, and his form has been atrocious at times and yet he thinks he's been hard done by? What a crock of shit. He's throwing his toys out of the pram and being a slapped arse because we no longer need him to the extent we did in 2010. Fergie said it himself after the Swansea game when he said "a fit and on form Wayne would not be left out". Make of that what you will.

Because it's a bloody sneaky & underhand way of conducting business. It manipulates the fans to the point where some will defend Rooney to the death while others are cynical about nigh-on everything he does. He doesn't have the courage of his convictions but, instead, does all his talking via press allies. If he's that unhappy, he should hand in a request; the way he's playing this, I guess we can look forward to a) him strengthening one of United's rivals, or b) another "I never had any intention of leaving" statement by proxy in his latest autobiography. Even leaving aside his past, discredited reasons for wanting a move, how the hell can anyone defend a player who hides in the shadows on SAF's last day, in our title celebrations, our parade, our Player Awards? Was he trying desperately to prove how 'sad' he was? How transparent he & his motives are...

I meant that everyone felt so hurt after the first incident. Since then it has never been the same and every tiny story about him being unhappy has resulted in people saying "feck off Rooney, all you want is money, care nothing about the club, disrespecting the club" and so on. Is the reason that so many fans turn on him so quickly because they had the completely wrong idea of what he was like as a person, and now that he isn't the selfless person people thought, people just start hating him?

I said it before, but again, he's done the right thing since the season ended and kept this all private. If he said that he wants to leave, the manager and staff may be unhappy, they might try to persuade him to stay like we should because he is a class player. If he is adamant on leaving though, the right thing to do is not to start speaking to reporters about it and try forcing a move. Once he hands in a transfer request, both United and Rooney will end up losing money on the whole deal. Chelsea or whoever would get him for a lower price then right now, and Rooney wouldn't get any loyalty bonus that is probably pretty nice for a player like him.

Wow, some people are either seriously myopic in how football works these days, or just so blinded by simple loyalty that they don't want to consider the possibility that Ferguson and the club might not have handled this well.

What did we gain by having Fergie come out and explicitly say Rooney asked to leave the club? He's smart, he chose his words very carefully.

The only logical reason I can see Ferguson doing that is because of the sh*t Rooney dragged us through 2 years ago, and that Fergie - personally - was just done with the player. Fine, that's understandable.

But the way the club is handling this as a whole is a PR disaster. Who is the player at the centre top of our website? The face on the posters for our tour?

I could care less if Rooney leaves, and I never want a player that isn't committed the club playing for us - we're all in agreement there. But we could be managing this situation so much better.

Instead it's looking like the story will be like Ruud: Disgruntled United player leaves on the cheap.

Thiago and Strootman stories dead, Tito says Cesc isn't going anywhere so the media do the predictable and turn full circle and return to Rooney. Sky sources

Wait, you think this is Sky Sports purely making this up because the Thiago, Strootman and Fabregas stories are dead?
