Sorry but feck England, concentrate on the club that pays your massive wages please.

I will state now that you will never win an international tournement with England Wayne, not because of you, but because the rest arent good enough.

Really don't understand this kind of attitude. It's bizarre. I'd be so proud to represent my country at anything at all. Regardless of my chances of winning.

Me too. The problem is the English media are total cnuts who almost make playing for their country a chore rather than a privilege.

From Rooney on Facebook;

I would like to let all my Facebook fans know that both Coleen and I are delighted to let everybody know that we are expecting our second baby in May of next year

He was captain against Brazil before. But that was a second string team really.

Regardless of the fact that England should move on from the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, (Rio), what's really the problem with Rooney being captain?

You can hate him cause he plays for United, just like I dislike those listed above (besides Rio), however I still won't take anything away from them and their ability to captain a squad.

They're all capable of captaining a team, so is Rooney, not to mention he'll be one of the senior players when those mentioned above stop being picked, he's also a leader on the pitch and just generaly England's best player.

He's not the only candidate but it hardly wouldn't make sense if Rooney was captain.

TBF, Rooney or Hart look to me to be the only 100% nailed on starters for England in two years time. Either one of them should be given the role now and allowed to bed into it, and I think that the extra responsibility would really help Rooney. He's used to carrying England anyway so he might as well wear the armband when he does it.

Well done to Rooney for being named captain. Hopefully it spurs him on further and he becomes and even better player for us.

All those twitter comments complaining that he got it over Gerrad/lampard when they are not in the squad are laughable.

When has Rooney carried England?

Anyway, it's time the old guard get shuffled out the door anyway, so they might as well give the captaincy to either Rooney or Hart, who's still got a good 5 years + to offer.

He's played well in friendlies and qualifiers, to be fair, but England often play well in such games, the choking happens in tournaments. I am just struggling to think of any games where Rooney carried England, let alone enough games to suggest it is something he is used to doing.

His touch usually becomes rubbish in international tournaments so I don't really buy this "he has shit team mates" excuse either.

The problem regarding Rooney on the caf is that there is so much overhyping done regarding him that some of us are forced to be rather negative. Better than Iniesta and Xavi. Carries England. Delusion.:wenger:

To be fair, there was only one person saying that. I think most would acknowledge he's not as good as either.

I think how good you play depends on the players around you though, Rooney has a vastly superior team in Utd than with England and that shows in his performances. Xavi and Iniesta always deliver internationally but it helps that they have an amazing bunch of players around them.

If you are talking about me over hyping Rooney you're full of it. If you take Rooney out of that England side they are very very ordinary. He makes them tick when he's on song and when he's not playing well or not there England are pretty shit. Pretty much the same as with United a lot of the time too, but if you say that it's seen as an honest reflection.

Have a  and a :wenger: right back at ya.

When since 2004 has Rooney carried England at a tournament? I'm not talking about friendlies and qualifiers against some little country Peter Crouch scored loads of goals against.

When Rooney is playing well we usually are too, when Rooney is playing shit we usually are too.

Does that mean that we need him in order to play well or that when we're not playing well he can't either?

I think he's a player who is very reliant on others around him performing too.

To be fair England are a very ordinary side WITH Rooney, and that isnt a dig at him, but it takes more than one very good player to improve that shower.

He came on and changed the complexion of the game against Spurs in the second half. He lifted the performance of the whole team. Anyways, it's a team sport, ofcourse you cannot do it all alone. More often than not you are going to need other players playing well too.

If this is the crux of your point I agree with it, I just dont think you have phrased it correctly, and sorry if I am being a pedant. Rooney is England's best player. You wont get much argument about that anywhere, and certainly not in a Manchester United chatroom. But he doesnt carry England, because that would require he... you know... carries them, i.e. lifts them when they are down, drags them through games by the force of his brilliance etc. Which he doesnt. Which is the biggest criticism of him at the international level.

He certainly hasnt done this in tournaments and I dont think he does it outside them either, because usually in those instances when England do well others are playing well too.
