He's a rhythm player. He needs to be in a rhythm and he ticks over. Move it all around a bit and upset the rhythm and he takes time to get back into the swing of things again.

Should of informed SAF of that little pearl while he was busy dropping him after signing RVP and Kagawa as alternatives. If only he'd have known about the rhythm thing, this whole situation could have been avoided. All SAf had to do was send Wayne a copy of this new Insanity workout dvd and it may just have provided exactly the right type of rhythm necessary for him to get back into the team! ;)

Don't bite, just couldn't resist!

Personally im not that arsed in who said what and why? All that matters now is what happens next. If Rooney is going to stay, then he has to start acting more professionally and earn his place along with everybody else. If he is going to leave, then let's get him sold and bring in someone else.

Im hoping we don't end up with one of those tiresome drawn out media dramas that drag on throughout the window. Let's get it sorted quickly, one way or the other, and we can then concentrate fully upon what will no doubt be a very testing beginning to our new era.

Exactly. It is about how committed he is to playing for the club.

I don't agree. His game screams inconsistency to me. He can still start in the same position in a run of games and somehow serve up a stinker.

In an ideal world the two will meet and Rooney will convince Moyes to leave with him.

I am not sure the timing of Mike's interview with 5 Live means anything but I found it slightly intriguing it came a day before Rooney was set to speak with Moyes. Again, it probably means little in the overall scheme of things.

I think Moyes should test Rooney's commitment and attitude by meeting him at a Toby Carvery and seeing if Wayne goes for a salad

Whether true or not, the Moyes-Rooney summit has been so overblown. Moyes should not go out of his way to retain a player that apparently does not wish to play for the club.
Look at it simplistically: SAF wanted to play 4-2-3-1 and wanted RVP as the lone striker. So Rooney gets shifted around the left & central positions of the 3 behind RVP, and also into central midfield.
So what if he's unhappy with this? What "assurances" can he possibly be happy with? I expect Rooney would be a more contented player without that fat feck Stretford influencing him.

Rooney & Stretford

I've heard our groundsman is preparing the pits as in Spartacus right now, Rooney and Moyes to go head to head.

Every player is entitled to express a desire to want to move on. Any player can do that at any time. In Wayne's case, in the first instance in 2010, he took a lot of advice and got steered towards making that call, but the manager was terrific. He talked to him and asked why would he want to leave the club.

Probably the most interesting part of that generally fluff article. Even for the BBC standard.

Pretty much describes 95% of players who have ever played the game.
95%? Let's not bring up figures we'll never agree on. By that logic Wayne isn't a rhythm player then. I do not see how he fits into the 5%. We talk about top players being consistent. I'm strictly looking at a consistent level of performances. Doesn't mean they never have bad games but they very rarely happen. Wayne is one of the few players whose form can wildly fluctuate in one match.

Rooney wants a clause he'll start a certain amount of games or he's off

WR: " I had to pay you compo for slagging you off in one of my books"

DM " Aye ye did, too reet too, yer Shrek headed b*****d ! "

WR " At least I'm not ginger "

DM " Anyway Wayne, we'd like ye to stay "

WR " "&"^"$%^"**() *^%":><:**^&** "

There isn't a player in the world who should be guaranteed a certain amount of games, promises not to be dropped or subbed or anything like it. Players should be picked on form, not reputation or anything else.

Everything that's wrong with British football can be seen in that video.

I don't think that's right myself. This season fair enough but on all past evidence he is a player who tends to get better after a run of games. That's part of the problem though, he seems to need about 3-4 matches to get back to match fitness, one has to question whether because that is down to him not conditioning himself properly.

In "showdown" talks... do both parties wear Cowboy Hats?

There better be some fecking Cowboy Hats...

So, if Rodney comes out with another of his bleeding heart stories "I made a mistake, I love United, I'll stay here for ever..." etc etc are we supposed to just meekly accept it & watch him gad about for the next 2 years until he gets bored again?

Alright, gadding about is a bit harsh, but most people know what I mean, I'm sure.
