He was dropped for the Blackburn game last season for not training acceptably.

He was dropped for going on a night out with Jonny Evans and Daron Gibson.

edit: And before you think that somehow aligns with your suggestion, there was no claim that the lads behaved badly, they merely went out for dinner with their partners. To this day I can't understand why Fergie reacted so severely to it.

He was dropped for being completely fecked in training after a night out with jonny evans and daron Gibson, either way, going on the piss at our busiest time of year, what a model pro!

I edited my post because I knew that was coming, your claims have no basis in reality.

If that is true then ok, ill withdraw that.....If SAF reacted badly the only reason I can think of is they were told not to go and still went, or something happened we don't know about.

None of them do. Convinced himself of these things to validate his opinion on Rooney. Pointless debate tbh.

Apparently he turned up drunk at training but I think the main issue was Rooney breaking a curfew that Fergie had set.

No, of course, he is a model pro that should start every game and must never be questioned because he is so valuable to us

There was a claim that they were 'underperforming' in training the next day, but it was hardly a Robson/Whiteside showing. Fergie presumably just overreacted to the slightest hint of player misbehaviour, as he tended to. (past tense sucks). It was actually a pretty stupid decision, to be frank, not least because if Jonny had been able to play that day Fergie would have retired with 14 PL titles.

Seriously now, I get that it's in vogue to loathe Wayne Rooney, but this desperate attempt to portray him as the second coming of Best is getting really fecking tiresome. He's probably smoked less cigarettes in the last decade than most smokers have in the last week.

Don't tar me with that, I hated Rooney before hating rooney was cool :lol:

Yeah, fair point, you're consistent at least. The people who were signing White Pele a week ago and then chanted YSB in Albert Square are the real idiots. Literally all he's done in that time is ask for assurances about his future and then suggest maybe he should leave. All in private too. I'm fecked if I understand what Fergie was doing confirming it to the media.

In all honesty if he genuinely is only concerned about his role in the team and offered to go if he isn't needed Im probably less pissed off at him than most as that's arguably the least selfish thing I can ever remember him doing!

Maybe Rooney should just go about declaring it in the media that he wants to leave since that seems to go down much better with the fans. They'll be chanting his name even when he's gone then.

What do you think that Fergie had in mind when he started replacing Rooney game after game? I doubt he was trying to push him out. He already knew he was retiring, so I doubt he was trying to set up a controversial and difficult issue for his successor to start with. I expect he was hoping to set Moyes up with a fired up Rooney ready to work hard and prove himself. Rooney's reaction must have been a surprise for him as well.

I like you, but every time I see your new tagline I piss myself laughing

Well I doubt it was particularly selfless, but it seems obvious from the leaked details and Fergie's statements that this was no "GIVE ME MORE MONEY OR I'M OFF!" but much more along the lines of uncertainty about his future and him suggesting maybe it would be best if he moved on.

Anybody who does think this is about money is out of their tree. There's no way we'll ever increase his contract, and the only clubs who'd give him a bigger one are either clubs he knows we won't sell him to or sugar daddy clubs in shit leagues.

 I was sat here thinking 'He shouldn't be smoking at all'...then I realised I had a cigarette hanging out of my gob. What a hypocrite. :D

And in that case even Id wish him all the best and say off you go.

I just don't see him regaining his enthusiasm for playing for United. It's been missing even this season, when we were chasing the title & he was playing alongside fine talents like RVP & Kagawa. His heart's not in it, and I don't see him maintaining enthusiasm for long even if he stays.

Everyone does realise that the lad isn't going anywhere? He has asked to move and we are all talking about it but we do all know that he will be playing for us next season.

The 'papers seem to be making it up as they go along:

'Giggs has hotel meeting about retirement'

'Giggs has hotel meeting about Rooney's future'

'Giggs has hotel meeting about becoming assistant manager'

'Giggs has hotel meeting with Miss Venezuela!'

He probably had all those meetings. It is economical to hold them one after the other.

Moyes speaking at Cambridge Union:

A further awkward moment came when Jackson pressed him on whether he thought Rooney’s development had “plateau-d”. Mindful that he still had to meet the unsettled United striker, in an effort to persuade him to stay, he replied, laughing: “I don’t watch all United games – I have had my own job. But you are talking about one of the best players in the world.” At this point, Moyes was interrupted by a heckler named Sparky, and by wr8 clinging to his trouserleg.

Miss Venezuela?

Revisited some games this season and really look like he fights the turf sometimes. Compare that to 5 or 6 years ago he used to glide across it. Don't if that was the eagerness of youth or just physically being in better condition.

Either way hopefully Moyes can light that fire again!

Hmm, I'm starting to think he will stay. As much as I can't see him ending his career here, I can't picture him playing for any other club more.

There's only one or two clubs on par with us in the World and I dare say they don't want nor need him, especially with his silly wages.

Lets be honest here, all that happened in one meeting.

Could call it a meating.

Miss Venezuela probably got spackled.

His body type is not conjecture, even his biggest fans could not argue he is a natural athlete, and SAF has come out and publically stated Rooney is prone to weight gain, this is only going to increase with age, that is undeniable, and given both past history, SAFs own comments about his training issues and the evidence of our own eyes it is not too far of a stretch to suggest that he is far closer to the end of his top flight career than the beginning.

If you take the body/form/fitness issues as read then why would you want to offer an extension, I would bet my left nut that he wouldn't take a pay cut, It is difficult to justify a salary as high as even the lowest figures quoted for a player who is going to become less and less influential.

What knowledge do I have of his disrespect, lets see, being so arrogant that he cant see that he is playing so badly there are others who deserve to start more than he does just for starters

Spot on.

I don't really understand the people saying "no-one knows what he is getting paid so can't use it as a stick to beat him with". As you say even the lower figures that are quoted make him one of the top Premier League earners, whereas the mid-high figures have him as indisputably the highest.

The fact is it's been a few years since he's been one of the league's best players (despite earning as such), but he has the arrogance to kick off when he isn't playing every game because of this.

One of the reasons I was delighted when we signed Van Persie was because we would not longer have to play Rooney every single game to get him back into form. If he's in shit form, playing him against Madrid would have been detrimental (as highlighted by Welbeck's great performance). He can get played back into form against lesser teams when it isn't detrimental.

Seems to me just a big power play to get a 2-3 year contract extension; a contract that I'm sure the club will be very reluctant to give him, given his shit form, shit attitude and the question marks over his fitness going into his 30's.

It's got to the stage where the rift between him and the fans is far too big and he simply has to move on. Most of us forgave him once and brushed it under the carpet but there's no way I'll support him like that again.
