rooney is in the top 10 most influential players of europe in my opinion , replacing him is a very though task . you get the full package in him from strength, passing, hardwork, leadership, to great finishing.
at the moment moyes cant lure top 10 talent to united so it would be better to get 2 more years out of him .in 2 years moyes would get established and able to attract top class replacement .
it would really help the transition time if rooney gets his head straight and extends his contract with 2 years

How do you know that?

The 'lack of motivation' is no different to the games where Rooneys been subbed. No point him playing, if he players without desire. He obviously won't feature next game either.

If he does do a u-turn it should be on our terms and we should offer him a reduced contract.

It's a weird one because he tweeted that he was really looking forward to the game in the morning.

Don't think he tweeted that, he wrote something on facebook about looking forward to the celebrations.

I'd rather he go and find whatever it is he's looking for than stay and play mind games with the club and fans. There is no doubt in my mind that we couldn't improve the squad with the funds and at the same time send a strong message to others, no one is bigger than the club and if you don't want to play here you are free to go.

If they respond to his desire to play week in week out, not be moved out of position then anything is possible. It's not a cert that he would be back to his best instantly, or ever in fact if he moved to Chelsea. But we really don't want to take that risk do we?

Chances are they'll strengthen up in the striker or goal scoring department in the summer one way or another.

Bayern Munich have flatly denied they are willing to offer Wayne Rooney a way out of Manchester United.

Despite reports that Rooney, who delivered the second transfer request of his United career last month, has told team-mates at Old Trafford he will be playing under Pep Guardiola next season, Bayern's managing director, Matthias Sammer, said last night they had no interest in bringing the 27-year-old to Germany. "I don't know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga," said Sammer. "All I can say is that while we respect Wayne Rooney, there has been no contact with him and he is not on our agenda. Absolutely not."

(Independent)

There are certain denials that stand out as BS a mile off, but ones which include "I don't know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga" sound convincing. Ouch.

Beckenbauer rates him anyway. Quote from March.

"I would be very, very happy if Wayne Rooney decided to come to Bayern Munich,"

"But is this a rumour or is it true? I don't know!"

The Times. We've gone full circle again.

But SAF will still be at United.

I'm going to make the "Bring Rooney home" pledge. I'll upload the video and create the site the day he signs for someone else.

But SAF will still be at United.

He won't be the manager, he won't be in training, he won't pick the team, pick the tactics, etc. A player doesn't leave because he has a problem with a director, even if he is the former manager.

Remains to be seen if it's true, of course, but I reckon it will. I've been saying for a few days that I don't think Rooney has a problem with the club, simply the manager. Now it'll be a different manager so it's a new page.

the big unknown at the moment is the relationship between Moyes and Rooney - obviously they fell out in the past but is it all behind them or not?
as that will obviously impact on what both want

Taking the Times article at face value for the moment.

So had SAF not retired Rooney would have pissed off due to being subbed and a failure to treat him as he feels he deserves? There is no sense of contrition at all here, arguably disrespectful to the team mates who took his place and did well for the club.

How much did Rooney have to pay Moyes in the end?

Dunno, but Moyes donated it to charity.

Incidentally, I can't believe how oppo fans think they can convince Rooney to join their club by tweeting stuff like: 'Love to have you at Arsenal, Shrek #signbaldy, wenger'

But what exactly will he be doing? what does a club director actually do?

Well Piers Morgan should've been banned from Twitter ages ago.

I'm not sure if that would annoy me more or less, getting sued and the other bloke giving away my money or if be just bought a speedboat.

SSN - Sir Alex Ferguson is to be the Manchester United's new chief negotiator for transfers and contract renewals it emerged late Tuesday evening. He and Lady Cathy look forward to touring European capitals this summer, however Ferguson must first tie up a few loose ends closer to home.

If only. ;)

Get rid, I don't want him anywhere near Old Trafford. Most of us forgave him last time, but he doesn't deserve the same treatment this time around.

I bet he was kicking himself when Fergie announced he would retire, it's obvious their relationship has been tarnished.

We will cope without him, and he will regret asking to leave.

Flog him to a team abroad for £30m.

I am firmly in the anti-Rooney camp, but I can understand that if he did have issues with SAF it is pretty much an impossible situation for him. You have "issues" with a man regarded to be the greatest manager of all time - what do you do? Grin and bear it? Any criticism is likely to be met with widespread hostility from the fans etc simply because of the standing of SAF.

He should take a massive cut from his current 250k a week, which he doesn't deserve anyways given his performances and shitty attitude, if he decides to stay with us after-all. Overpaid gimp.

And rightly so. SAF does what's best for United. Rooney does what's best for his own greedy selfish interests, just like the last time he held the club to ransom. Of course the fans would stick by Fergie rather than an overpaid selfish idiot.

Well you don't walk out onto the training pitch at the beginning of 2012/13 looking like the Goodyear blimp for starters. Nor at the first sign of serious competition do you do a flit.
