When was the last time United weakened themselves and strengthened a rival like Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs have been doing for the past few years?

Is it just Tevez?

Strachan(but Leeds were in Div 2) and Paul McGrath went to villa who became a rival in 92-93.

There the only other two I can think off who went to clubs that became title rivals. We havent let a player go to a then rival as long as i can remember.

Torres and shevchenko. Nuff said.

Not always going to work the same way. Torres had lost his pace and Sheva was really old when he moved to a totally new style of play. Rooney is better than both of them and I'm sure he'd be great for Chelsea/City. Selling in England would be a shocking idea.

He might, but he isnt the best striker Chelsea could buy. Whats more important, United's squad being successful or not seeing Wayne Rooney play for Chelsea?

The two are connected. Strengthening our soon to be title rivals by giving them one of the best forwards in the world doesn't seem to be my idea of ensuring our success.

Even Tevez was something out of our control.

True, but when was the last time we had an English player put in a transfer request? Well aside from Rooney. When was the last time we had an English player do it twice?

This one is different to almost all before it. And theres also some player power too, if Wayne dismissed the idea of going abroad we'd have to talk it out with the domestic clubs who can afford to sign him

Err, mate, players move for more money all the time.

Yeah I know they move for money but say you want to join United but end up at Chelsea because they pay you an extra 25%? That doesn;t make logical sense, at United you are going to earn enough money to set you up for life as well, so why not join where you want to go?

Its different if your choice is Wigan Athletic or United.

Let him go. His constant mood swings are getting retarded. One minute were not ambitious enough for him. The other, he's "not keen to play" because he's been sidelined due to us having someone better upfront and his form at times being below par.

I just find your reaction ironic, considering how you would have mocked the so-called Ronaldo fanbois if they reacted the same way when we sold Ronaldo.

You're cut from the same cloth. It's cute.

If he leaves so be it. But he's been a brilliant player for us. If recognising that makes me a fanboi, fair enough.

Still, it's no reason to lose it, Top.

I must say I completely understand fans that are fed up with a player who asks for a transfer request 2 times in three years. My reaction would probably be the same aswell.

You will find a better forward aswell with the money you'll get from him, I'm pretty certain about that. I'd love to see Ibrahimovic at United, maybe a straight swap, anyone?

The thought of Jose coaching him would be scary... I reckon he'd get the best out of him and he'd benefit from playing with nimble pass and move merchants such as Oscar, Mata and Hazard. We can't sell to them in my opinion.

I'd take that

Well he can fecking do one then, second time in 3 years the cnut.

Who is a better striker, Rooney or Falcao?

Falcao is arguably the best out and out striker in the world right now, Rooney has more to his game, but we have quality playmakers to do that, what we need is a world class forward. Not that Rooney wouldnt strengthen us, far from it, but to prise him away it would be a huge bid and we could probably get Lew or Falcao for that.

If Chelsea play Rooney upfront and not mess around like we do, he'll do just as well if not better than Falcao would over there. And Rooney also has the advantage of a decade in the PL and he's already well used to the League. Falcao would possibly need time to adapt. And besides, he seems Monaco bound anyway.

Ba seems to have a hard time replicating his form at Chelsea as well Drogba is the only striker that really convinced me at Chelsea over the last 6 or 7 years.

I really wonder what it is about that club that turns even the best strikers to mediocrity.

Ba was never all that, he had a good 6 months. Andy Carroll had one of those.

Torres had been poor for nearly 18 months when chelsea bought him. Its what makes the fee so absolutely hysterical.

I think we that would be a bad move and along the lines of Berbatov. Both great players, but not suited to United IMO.

Yeah well that happened with RvP as he really wanted to come here. Hazard had no preference for either us or Chelsea but chose Chelsea because they offered more money.

I really wouldn't want Ibra here at all. People here hate Rooney's questionable loyalty, this guy doesn't know the meaning of loyalty.

Lol mate, Falcao is way better than Rooney at the moment and would score an absolute bucket load in the prem.

They both seem off to other clubs though. Cavani is your only other top quality option.

I'd take that

Ibra and RvP? That would be a strange combo just as RvP Lewandoswki would be.

I'm talking about for Chelsea. Since thats what we're speculating will be his destination. If Chelsea sign him they probably wont sign Falcao

Are people really worried that Rooney would bring them more success than the alternatives out there like Falcao?

I'm not concerned with Rooney, hes asked to leave twice. The players at the club who want to be the future of it are the ones to think about now. Are they going to have more success in their careers rivaling a Chelsea with Rooney or Falcao up front?

Edit - Oh sorry I keep forgetting you're a rival supporter  probably means you arent as clueless as some of the others

Well Ronaldo would give us more going forward than Rooney, there's no question about that. There's no age difference, Ronaldo is much better and would surely play longer into his career too. If Rooney doesn't want to play for us, which seems to be the case, and Ronaldo did and could, I'd have no problem accepting that.

your avatar :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I thought it was because Hazard's agent trousered a nice wedge that we weren't prepared to pay him.

If Rooney should go, then I believe we don't need a forward to replace him, as we are well equipped with RvP, Hernadez and Welbeck. We don't play 4-4-2 anymore, so having four forwards is not an necessity IMO. Use the money to strengthen that midfield.

Ok so he had no feelings one way or the other? To be honest we dont know 100% its all hearsay, I just find it hard to believe that if your options are United, Chelsea or City you would pick Chelsea just because of the money, you would earn enough at any of them. RVP would have earnt more at City but joined United because he knows he would still earn enough to pay his bedroom tax at United and gets to play at the club he actually wants to play at.

That and the posh side of London/Surrey tops Manchester all day long ;)

Good luck to the lad. Served united well.

I hope he signs for man City and we could Rip the shit out of him properly

You can get Lewandowski for a cheaper price than Rooney but there is no way you are getting him so you can stop dreaming. He has absolute no interest in moving to you guys. His interest, if he moves, is either Bayern or United. Falcao will definitely cost you more than Rooney since you cant get him for under £40m due to the price Athletic paid for him and also due to his release clause.

Good point. Falcao would be the more devastating option for them. However Rooney at his best is still up there with the best strikers in the world, and if he could produce his best form for Chelsea then they'd have strengthened significantly.

I guess we'll have to resign ourselves to the fact that they'll buy a striker this window. Whether it's Lewandowski, Rooney, Cavani or Falcao they'll buy one of them anyway.

Nah, why would Hazard give a shit about prem clubs? He was whoring himself out to whoever would pay him (and his agent as another poster said) the most.
