Wayne Rooney | 2012-14 Performances

It sickens me when you hear of transfer requests like Rooney's where he's not happy with being substituted when he's playing poorly, yet you have players like Hernandez who can score for 3 appearances in a row yet be benched and not make a sound.

Yes Rooney may "give it all for the team" but there are several others who do just as much as he does. Valencia can fill in at right back, Jones is playing everywhere yet wants to focus on centre back, Welbeck is on the wings despite being a striker and Kagawa is being shunted out wide ironically to make space for Rooney.

The squad has become so big that you are not guaranteed game time no matter who you are, no player has a right to start the game regardless of form and that's the way it should be. Rooney has stropped before and asked for the squad to be improved, and now it has come around to bite him on the arse as he's no longer the lynchpin.

Balague speaking on Sky Sports now saying we already offered him to Barcelona a few months ago, they declined apparently.

Have I been on Mars or something? Why is everyone talking about Rooney moving to us? I only went away for a few days and it feels like I've fallen into a 5 year coma.

He put in a transfer request and of all the top teams it's Chelsea who need a quality striker the most.

It's a lot easier to smile and laugh for a half an hour while the eyes of the world are on you than to cope with being dropped for a few weeks, I could be entirely wrong, I just think its a worry moyes could do without in his first season

I also think Moyes wouldn't want to head into his first season on the back of losing Rooney. It would be a major blow to him and that's why I see Rooney staying. If it was Fergie who was manager next season, Rooney would be gone but with Moyes coming in, I don't see him selling such a crucial player.

Anyway, we had Berbatov, Nani, Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo back in 2009. We could be losing all of them AND Fergie by the end of this summer :(

He can feck off, anything he says is horseshit. Rooney probably doesn't even know who Barcelona are.

Ferguson confirmed he's handed in a transfer request. The papers seem to be leaning with Chelsea as a possible destination. The fact we won't sell to City, and that his big sweaty head couldn't hack foreign sun also add to this.

To be fair Ronaldo's exit was a lot more professional and amicable in regards to how he left the club. He never threw in public transfer requests in response to silly things like the club not signing good enough players, and even when his mind wasn't in the right place he still put in solid performances on the pitch. Heck, this season there was a storm of a circus surrounding him, yet he's still scored a silly amount of goals while continuing to be his side's talisman. Somehow I don't think you'll get that with Rooney.

Come on Kaos, I think there's some revisionism going on. Him wanted to leave was played out in the media. Even Blatter got involved. I think time's a healer. But a lot of people were seething at the time. And I'd rather have the Welsh bloke, young, hungry, could partner Robin. Tasty.

I find it annoying how having two years left on your contract has become the new one year left.

If it's Chelsea, you'd have to feel someones turned his head with the allure of a big fat contract.

He's already on over £200K a week!, How much more do you think we'd pay him?

I just think he's not happy at playing 2nd fiddle to RVP and thinks a change of scenery is easier than getting his head down and trying to win his spot back.

Plus, he probably does not really want to play under a manager who sued him.

We all know where all the good Man United forwards end up. How much time has Rooney left on his contract? Just curious.

He probably asked to be offered to Barcelona, say that was fun news for Ferguson to break.

"Ah Wayne, Barcelona don't think you're any use."

He put in his request before it was known that Moyes is our new manager.

2 years left.

I don't want him to play for United again. He clear *is* for sale - we just don't want to seem desperate so we get a good price.

Would not be annoyed if he left, as I think a lot of his qualities were down to his physique, and his athletic ability seems to be on the wane (don't think he ever truly recovered from that ankle injury in Munich, despite going on to have his best scoring season two years later). I would, however, be annoyed if we replaced him with anyone except Gareth Bale. Perfect partner for RVP, young, and versatile.

Yes we do...

What a kit that was.

As if Chelsea wouldn't add an extra fifty to a hundred thousand pounds onto his wage.

Massive revisionism going on regarding his last season. He clearly couldn't be arsed most of that year.

If he wants to go, we should let him. A semi-motivated Rooney is replaceable. Great shame as he's an absolute world class player when he wants to be.

You sound annoyed.

I am fairly sure the news of Rooney wanting to leave has hit you much harder than me. Unlike you, I have no love for the guy, he just happens to play for my club, and as long as he does that at a proper level, I'll tolerate him.

But I wouldn't at all be sad to see him go if it meant we'd get someone as good or better in.

He's a funny guy this Wayne.

First he moans about out team not being good enough, we sign RvP and then he's the second choice and first to be taken off from the strikers, then he wants to leave. Not the brightest.

He is a scouser, scouser logic.

Thought we was in for Falcao and Lewandowski though, surely Rooney wouldn't move to us.

Yeah, people only seem to remember that he got his act together for the Champions League knockout stages. He wasn't even that good during the league run-in.

Well if you DO get Falcao then he'd be an idiot to move to Chelsea but nobody ever said Rooney was particularly bright. Off the football pitch I mean.

Yes, I've got his posters on my wall. I'm in love with him.

Are you happy now?

The thick, fat sack of shit can get gone in my opinion. He's a great player but the worst thing we can do is keep him. He doesn't care about United, that much is clear so the best thing we can all do is let him go. He's a complete idiot :)

The gravity is still the same across the Channel, whether it's Munich or Manchester he's still got to ease off on the fecking jaffa cakes.
