The quicker he leaves, the quicker the club can have funds to look for other (direct and indirect) alternatives. It's better for everyone (Rooney included) that he leaves ASAP

Spot on, mate.

Get our transfer dealings done early and let's have a good pre-season for once. Judging on Moyes' infamous pre-seasons, we should be in fine fettle come late August.

To do it once, was just about forgivable, but a second time for me shows that this will never end and he is best out of our club.
Forgiveable  he didn't murder anybody...

If he ends up signing a new contract, we carry on as normal. If leaves, we wish him the best (providing it's abroad - which the club is responsible for).

You make it sound like there wasn't uproar the last time he did it.

I'll give you that, this thread is going to be even more unbearable than that fecking Pogba thread.

He'll score a lot so there's going to be a lot of bumping up of this thread. A lot more than Pogbas!

The old Rooney would have fought and worked twice as hard to get his spot back. His mind seems to be off and asking for a transfer twice says a lot. He might be a brilliant player but sometimes, you have to let players go who are not commited anymore

As someone said yer man Balague says we offered him to Barcelona before now and they declined. A few journalists have also said that we offered him to Real and they said they weren't interested either. If that's true it tells me two things:

1. We've obviously been planning for Rooney to leave for a while, so it might not be just Rooney pushing for a move. This might be something both parties are happy with.

2. No club in their right mind would pick Rooney over Falcao.

I don't see the big deal. Bigger and better players have left and we've been fine.

But good luck to him if he does go. He's been an excellent player for us.

If Rooney feels he needs a fresh start, I think another club would be lucky to have him. If he goes to Chelsea for example, it wouldn't be another Torres. He'd have renewed purpose and would get himself in peak condition I'm sure. He's still got a lot to give.

But we'd be fine without him as well. It could be the making of Welbeck and Chicharito, they're ready to step up imo.

Welbeck is not ready to step up, if we lose Rooney we lose 20-25 goals a year as well as his creativity and assists I certainly don't think welbeck can fill this void Based on his performances in a utd shirt.
I
We will have to replace Rooney- maybe the Falcao rumours have legs. I also think this Rooney admission drove fergie to retirement remember his upset the last time Rooney wanted out- I reckon this was a factor- altho fergie would never admit it

I disagree. I think it has more to do with what the club needs to be fair. Like us for example, it would be brilliant if Falcao came here but with RVP already here, managers would be more inclined to go for a Wayne Rooney type of player rather than a Falcao type of player.

Well tbh Rooney has never really had a situation like this. He's always been the main man or the second main guy after Ronaldo. This season he's not only fallen behind RVP as the main man but at times he's been left out/moved to accomodate other players and that's never happened before.

Personally I'm still hoping that if he has a good think he'll realize this isn't an agenda against him but simply a wake up call. He wanted the competition and now he has it in the class of RVP and the youthful energy of Welbeck/Kagawa and the threat of Hernandez. If he wants to be a key part of that he'll have to fight for it and may be that'll mean he has to re-assess how he conducts himself on and off the pitch.

As I've said before I'm unsure where he can go to both in terms of equal footing and in terms of a club where he will lead the line if that's what he wants. In the PL only Chelsea is an option, whether we would see is a different matter. I don't think there are many options abroad as I can't see Bayern/Real/Barca really wanting him that much.

I feel he'll stay actually. Though once again, he's got media cornered by SAF  What a man!

No remember he said by Christmas time he had actually decided. Plus he had planned to retire last year if we had won the title. So I dont see how Rooney asking for a transfer two weeks played a part in his retirement. He has seen bigger players than Rooney leave and gone on, what makes you think this time around is going to affect him so badly, that he might consider retirement.

I just can't see him not being sold after a second transfer request. I know most think it's about money but how much more could he be expecting? I think he wants a fixed position and the team to play to him as opposed to him always being the guy who is shunted about.

Fergie saying we wont sell means nothing, he said a week ago he wasn't retiring, I think as soon as the season is over his transfer will be announced, much the same as Ronnie's was.

This sounds more like what's happened. To be honest in some of the games where he has been subbed and the likes of Giggs and Valencia have been left on I can fully understand his frustrations.

This part I agree with. Valencia, Welbeck and Giggs can have truly awful games and not get subbed off but Rooney has a sub par performance and he's off. It must frustrate him a bit to be subbed so frequently when he isn't even putting in really poor performances.

did Fergie say when exactly Rooney put in his transfer request?

If you think the timing of that request will now have a bearing on his decision, I can't see it.

One U turn was enough allied with the huge disappointment felt by the fans. Don't think there's any turning back now.Yes we'll miss his goals and creativity but that doesn't mean we won't have another.

Don't know why this has to be said but here goes yet again

Utd are bigger than any one player. We got on with it after Keane,Ronaldo and other great players left. It's a sorry state of affairs if fans out there believe there are no players in the world who can't fill the void
