I don't think this one's (solely) about money or a new deal. That said, the bottom line is that if he was physically and mentally right he'd be the first name on the team sheet every single week, so it's down to him from here. He can either cut and run or face up and make himself our best player again.

If he's not physically right, that's down to him. If he's not mentally right, who has been turning his head?

Body language was telling: everybody else got pats on the back - Rooney got a lukewarm protocol effort.

No matter what the reason is, 'not wanting to play' in a game like today is just fecking disgusting. Totally disgraceful and to me, it's like a big feck-off to what SAF has done for him and his career. Moyes might want to keep him, and he might stay eventually, but after today, I have no feelings about him anymore.

Agreed.

Why the feck would he do that?

I could understand if he wanted to go to Paris or Madrid... but why to another English club? Does he think it will be easier to oust Agüero from the starting line-up?

There's this new thing called money... you can exchange it for goods and various produce.

I suspect the main problem is that Wayne wants to go to a PL rival and, naturally, the club is having none of it.

Good shout. Hopefully PSG or Madrid come in. Madrid love buying our discontented players so wouldn't be at all surprised if he ended up there. They need a striker too.

I'd be very surprised if its new contract talks be ause literally, he's burnt his bridges with most fans now. To top it off, he's much more dispensable now then he was then.

So either his agents as thick as him or they're seeing a huge payday at PSG/city.

Strange thing with Rooney, some times I think he has a big ego and thinks he's too good, other times it looks like he has feck all confidence.

I agree. Just looks like a kid still sometimes.

Didn't Fergie say he didn't think Wayne was keen to play because he asked to leave? I don't think that means Rooney actually asked not to play or anything. I still think he'll stay

He's making a big mistake if he stay in this country. I will lose any respect I had and that had been dwindling. I would respect him more if he wanted a new challenge and went abroad. Just think he's not intelligent enough to cope with living in another country.

I always defend Rooney the player on here but his attitude since the Madrid game has been piss poor. He hasn't shown any fight to convince SAF that he should be the first name on the team sheet, instead he has sulked like a child.

It would pain me to see him leave but you have wonder if he has the hunger anymore, or if his fame and success has got to him.

He must already have an agreement in principle with someone, this shouldn't take too long at least.

Im happy Ferguson came out and told everyone he asked to leave. Its just no point dragging this issue anymore. Now at least its settled he wants to go and everyone can move forward.

I really don't want a player at the club who goes about contract negotiations in that manner.

Well I don't want a repeat either.

I also don't want him to leave. But if I'm sure whatever happens will happen for the best. If he really does want to go, then that's up to him. United will continue to exist and move on, so whatever.

But I won't turn on him.

He won't be going. Interesting what Neville's saying, love how articulate he is.

Just needs to get his head straight, have a good summer off and he'll be back to his best again next season. We won't allow him to leave.

Of course we'll allow him to leave. Does Moyes want to spend his first year as manager dealing with an unhappy and underperforming Wayne Rooney? We'd have to sell him next summer anyway with one year left on his contract.

Unless Rooney does another volte-face, he's gone. This time I don't think the club will shower him with riches to persuade him to stay.

He can't come back from this. I reckon the majority of fans had kind of forgiven him for the last time, but this is too much. He's broken the trust and he will have to go.

He wants to be the main man. He should go to PSG where he would be the crown jewel on their mantlepiece, and pay him through the nose.

I'd be happy to see him go, as long as we get top dollar for him. He has disgraced the club a few times too many.

- The Whores
- The Contract
- Being unfit, smoking and drinking at his holidays

He's asked to leave twice in three years. Even his most fanboyish fanboys must want him to leave by now, he's not happy and wants to move on.

Neither do I. He's already the biggest Earner or joint, and surely he realises that he's not going to get paid anymore when if anything he has got worse.

He probably wants to play, but it is hard to think which big club apart from the Chavs where he would walk straight into the team. You wonder if the Falcao transfer has gone and they are contacted his agent.

Whatever we do, just don't sell him to bloody Chelsea or City or anyone in England.

If he's not physically right, that's down to him. If he's not mentally right, who has been turning his head?

There's a lot more to being mentally right than being tapped up. He's been through a turbulent time personally with his wife's sister dying. From what I've read he was close to her. Plus on the pitch it's been up and down. He's suddenly gone from being our main man to being dropped and subbed regularly. He'll have people in his ear telling him how unfair it is and how he should be the club's star player regardless of who we buy. It all takes its toll. Supporters want footballers to be immune from this stuff, but it doesn't work like that. I'm sure there have been dozens of United footballers who've behaved just as badly down through the years, except they're not Wayne Rooney, so we don't hear about it.

I'm not making excuses here, just pointing out that there's more to it than some people would have you believe. But the bottom line is that if he is to stay, no one but him can sort this.

I'm delighted for you. Must be a more joyous moment than us winning 20 surely?

I'm torn, on one hand we loose a player who on his day is one of the best around. On the other it means I don't have to see a spud faced prossie bothering amoral petulant arse haired mercenary in the shirt of the club I love week in week out, so either way I'm happy.

Gary Neville analysed it perfectly, there is no better place for Rooney to play football other than at the theatre of dreams. If he doesn't realise that during his time off and get his head together, then he'd be making the biggest mistake of his life.

Remember Ruud apparantly asked to leave a few times before he eventually did, and his performances dropped off towards the end. If Wayne wants to go we should just let him go.
