He's given us 9 years and some fantastic memories. So I don't begrudge him for wanting to leave. Sometimes people need a change of scenery. That isn't a bad thing. People change jobs all the time.

What I am annoyed about is this coinciding with SAF's special day.

Gary Neville desperately wants him to stay, he's only got good words about him. I hope Moyes can convince Pretty Blue Eyes to stay. He's a part of the fabric of the club, not the types of players you'd want to lose.

If they had all heard the confirmation from Sir Alex about the transfer request there would have been a lot of booing. He was lucky his boss didn't say something earlier.
A few lads behind me knew about it and they weren't to pleased about it, he has got himself into a situation where a transfer is the only option.

Agreed

So far yes.... Maybe it's just big money high profile forwards?

Drogba did fine too. Mutu, less so I guess! There are a few others now you mention it- Kezman, another.

Exactly, even if he stays his actions won't exactly contribute to a harmonious atmosphere either, will they? Past the point of no return now, I think.

After the previous saga he said he'd only leave abroad. So hopefully, it's the same now.

I have zero respect for him after this, and I don't think we'll miss him the way he's been playing lately. Just try to get a high fee and sell him abroad.

RIght now with the new manager coming in its the worst possible timing to have a prominent player in the squad (like Rooney) acting up. We need stability and players who are willing to follow the lead of the new manager and give it their best whatever he decides to do. Right now, many things point in the direction of Rooney becoming a problem for Moyes if he stays. I think its the best for the club if we get rid, or we could see some Chelsea light dressing room drama..

I reckon he's angling for a move to Chelski to join his mates Cole and Terry and bet Coleen is gagging to move to London. Just my personal opinion.

30m would be ridiculous for a player of his quality. 40m at the least I'd say

No, but if Rooney only wants to stay in England, would the Glazers let us tell Wayne to see out his contract and let him move for free after two years, rather than pocketing the 25 million?

I don't think we would sell to a PS team regardless of how bad we want the money. Still you could be right... Personally I've had enough of him and would rather see him out as soon as possible regardless of where.

Over-rated player who wants better players around him but be the main man, as SAF said "Wayne on form would not be getting subed"

Players who don't want to play for Manchester United are exactly the type of players you want to lose.

This is how I felt when he first asked to leave a few years ago, 2 transfer requests in 3 years though and I cant help but feel we should sell him.

Agreed - he doesn't come off as too sympathetic, does he? All in all, I think it is right for him with a change of scenery, but he has lost the ounce of respect I still had for him with this stunt of his.

United will probably get a decent amount of cash for him, so the deal will most likely be the best for both parts.

I have stuck up for Wayne throughout this thread, as I believe that he still has something to offer to this team, but I am not sticking up for someone that doesn't want to be here. So I'll say thanks for the good times Wayne, and farewell! We will continue to be great without you.

I'm personally not that big a fan of his anymore, I think he's been average (and at times flat-out crap) for the past couple of years, so if we get £30m+ for him (which we then spend on a quality replacement) I'm content.

Bang on.

Hernandez for instance hasn't exactly been given as many games as he should have, yet you don't hear a word out of him. You can clearly see that he loves playing for Manchester United.

Really sad that on the day that two of the biggest legends that United have ever seen have retired, most of the attention will be on Wayne Rooney. And thats all I'm gonna say on the matter.

Its obvious isn't it? He's clearly gagging to go there.

You should never have to beg a player to stay unless you've got no alternative. He's a cancer, this is a winning squad with alot of young players... would send out the right message to get rid and bring in another superstar with a great professional attitude. Important to sell him to the right club though, if he goes to Chelsea or Bayern.. he'll do well. We need to sell him to a side where he'll get paid bucketloads but win nothing genuine of note... kind of like what has happened to Ronaldo, he's never done better than what he achieved here, a true measure of the greatness of this club.
