Neville talks a lot of sense. Walking away from all of this would be a mistake. Rooney needs to have a think and then make a proper decision.

If it's still to go, then we'll deal with it. But I want him to stay.

If Rooney wants to go then he'll be gone, even if the club say they're not gonna sell him. Hell, I'd be amazed if the club aren't already in some kind of contact with potential buyers. There've been enough rumours over the last few months for us to conclude that this has been a while in coming. I don't think anyone is too shocked.

Strong words from Fergie "he's been unhappy about being taken off a few times", "Wayne Rooney in top form wouldn't be substituted".

Said he left him out to stew too.

I'm going to miss Sir Alex.

I'm not so much worried about him leaving us but going to City or Chelsea, especially the latter. If he goes abroad then fine but I can't see that happening.

Still want him to stay though but other than money I can't see why he would want to leave.

Get rid of him. Twice in 3 years he's asked for a transfer. He doesn't realise what he will miss. This is the greatest club in the world.

I agree with this, and I disagree with Nev and Big Pete, we have lost better than him and still won things. 2 requests in 3 years is not a sign of loyalty.
Yes he will be missed, but the same was said when Ronaldo went and we still carried on winning.

But, but, but...it's the press that's lying and making all this shit up, surely

No, you're right. This proves they never lie. The only reason we know this to be true, is because Sir Alex said it. Simple as

Did I miss something, did he actually refuse to play, crap if that's true, today of all days he should do whats right for the club that pays him a fortune each week.

Are we sure that he said that ?

Apparently so, I think saf said he didn't want to play.

The manager has said he needs to mull over his future and it WILL be at this club.

Also said that he has been substituted a few times and that might have led to the transfer request. Then went on to say that he WOULDNT be substituted if his form was better.

Basically, Wayne is staying. End of story.

Would you still forgive Wayne if he decides to stay, not sure I can take it anymore (considering it's twice in three years) - dissrespectful

"Wayne's been unhappy because he's been substituted a few times... but if he were in top form then he wouldn't be taken off" - Fergie.

At a guess, he is probbaly not happy about the position and role he has played in some matches

He wanted to leave back in 2010 because he said the club wasn't ambitious enough. We certainly showed ambition in signing one of the best players in the league from another Premier League rival, and Rooney has been fairly average this season with that exact player being much better than him. He doesn't have too much of a right to be annoyed at his involvement since he's not been overly impressive this season.

The fact "he wasn't keen to play" really fecked me off. Did he seriously ask not to play?

It's almost like Rooney has depression or bouts of it. I don't know, whatever is happening doesn't make sense.

It isn't depression, it is ego. A few years ago he thought that Utd were slipping beneath his standards. This time round he is angry because he is not seen as a nailed on starter, plus he has been getting subbed and played out of position a lot this season. He thinks that he is better than that.

The way Rooney is now, he's not worth all this nonsense. Punt him and get in a superior player from a fraction of the wage.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson tells BBC Sport about Wayne Rooney's transfer request: "We have refused it. I think he should go away and think about it again. He wasn't happy about being brought off in games this season. Wayne Rooney in top form wouldn't be taken off."

On whether Rooney will stay at the club, Ferguson added: "It's not my decision now."

Get a new player signed up asap, be it Lewandowski or somebody like Isco (Kagawa behind RvP, Isco from the left).

Bloody right aswell, he is not bigger than the club and if he isn't playing well he should not be on the pitch!

If he thinks he can stroll around the pitch at another club he's having a laugh

He's a funny guy this Wayne.

First he moans about out team not being good enough, we sign RvP and then he's the second choice and first to be taken off from the strikers, then he wants to leave. Not the brightest.

Sadly Rooney is too thick to understand this and resorts to transfer requests...unbelievable.

Exactly. Nobody should play come wind come shine. Had Wayne played the way he's supposed to he wouldn't have been subbed so he can hardly moan.

I think he stays. Fergie seemed certain that he will be made to stay one way or the other.

Im sure Moyes will be able to convince him as well.

Rooney is misguided. There is no bigger club than Manchester United. Only Real Madrid come close. Chelsea and City are tiny compared to us. If he wants to go to them it's about his greedy agent and money.

Fergie would've said that automatically because anything else would automatically reduce the transfer fee. Of course he may still say, but Fergie saying he'll stay doesn't really increase the chances by much.

It's not end of story at all. Fergie said he has no plans to retire a few weeks ago, what's happened now? Now that it's confirmed he has to leave, this could also be just a transfer technique to receive the highest bid possible. Finally, Moyes will have a huge say on this decision as well. To say he is definitely staying is just being being in denial.

SAF on Rooney's transfer request: "We have refused it. I think he should go away and think about it again.

From the MUTV interview, if I'm not wrong.

Gut feeling says that it'll be resolved.

Strange thing with Rooney, some times I think he has a big ego and thinks he's too good, other times it looks like he has feck all confidence.

If he stays fine, if he goes fine. The club will just move on like it always does everytime it loses a player, it stands still for nobody.

To keep an unhappy player at the club might not be the best idea. If he doesnt sign a contract, then I would rather we sell him abroad, get the money and buy a worthy replacement. But if he decides to sign a contract and stay, then I dont know what to say. The supporters will never look at him the same again. Never again.
