just seen this on Sky sports website, it has to be them making stories up?

There have been plenty of rumours about Wayne Rooney's future in recent days after he was dropped for the win over Fulham and the Daily Mirror reports that the striker fears Manchester United want to sell him. A £40million fee has been mooted, although it could be next year before he is sold after his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly broke down.

Just a random thought. We need a midfielder, Barcelona has too many midfielders.... How would the caftards feel towards a Rooney for Busquets exchange?

just cause you so obviously dislike Rooney it doesn't mean you should be able to pull this kind of shit out of your ass.

I seriously can't believe the papers have come out with this. He missed one game after playing shit and lacking match sharpness. Now he's not the player we thought he was going to be and we're going to get shut at the earliest opportunity.

What a load of crap.

Rooney, when fit and on form is still one of the best players in the world and if we have ambitions of winning things that Rooney is only going to help. Why would be want to sell arguably our best player?

It sells papers.

And I agree, we're not selling any of our best players, there is simply ZERO chance of us moving on Rooney and Nani, I mean, feck me, SAF aint retarded.

we don't, but the papers really don't give a feck that they're pissing United fans off with this kind of bullshit, all they care about is the money they make by publishing these stories.
any story about United is a good story as it's bound to sell, whether it be pure bullshit or not really doesn't matter

Something should be done about this, but I seriously doubt anyone will do anything.

Lou Macari insists there’s no chance Wayne Rooney will leave Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils striker has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City, after reportedly falling out of favour with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Rooney, 26, was left out of the starting XI that beat Fulham 3-2 at the weekend, fuelling speculation about his future.

But former Old Trafford favourite Macari claims the omission was a ploy by Fergie to spark the England forward back into life following a sluggish start to the season, although he is now set for a month on the sidelines after suffering a gashed thigh against the Cottagers.

“He’s a top player,” Macari told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. “He’s there to help win back the Premier League title.

“There’s no chance that Sir Alex Ferguson will allow Rooney to leave in the transfer window. It’s crazy talk.

“The main thing from the Fulham game wasn’t that he was omitted from the team. If you want to get someone out the door you can leave them sitting on that bench for 90 minutes. You’re going to try and sicken him.

“But what did the manager do? He brought him on and unfortunately he picked up an injury. I could see this coming from when the team-sheets arrived. Everyone was saying ‘Rooney for Man City’. But he was left out of the team to shake him up.”

Worrying when Lou Macari is the one talking sense!

To me all Rooney needs to do is find his touch back. For a while now he just seems to have developed the touch of a rapist.

I think back to the season after Ronaldo left, he started the season in good goal scoring form but, if you watched his overall play then - it was rather gash. Then all of a sudden later in the season he found his touch and from that point till the Bayern injury became touted as up there in the top 3 of the world.

After that injury he never has really got back that consistent touch, where he is able to receive the ball and not bounce off 5 yards, giving him that extra half second. Hopefully, when he comes back he'll find a way to get that touch/control back because when he does it takes his confidence to another level. Even without it he is one of the best - with it, there will be talk of being in the top 5 bracket of players in the world again.

ive never particularly liked rooney. after the contract dispute id say i crossed over on the the dislike side.

i have however always apprecaited his ability as a football.

what i always liked about him was that he would shoot early, from anywhere. he was aggressive. he was direct. his was quick strong and able to beat a player.

unfortunatley i havent seen that in him for two seasons now. i think the goals he scored last year covered up his actuall performances. he's not really the type of player to do nothing but get 35 goals per season (a ruud type player).

he seems to be content dropping deeper and deeper and spraying the all about. personally he (or the place in the team he is taking) is wasted doing that. prior to the rvp deal i got slated for starting a thread stating we need another forward. i made the statement that i dont think anybody feared our forward line of rooney / welbeck / hernandez. i genuinley think that was the case last year. for all the goals rooney scored i dont think anybody set up to stop us playing. other teams (certainly top teams) dont fear rooney anymore.

to put the cat amongst the pidgeons, they way kagawa has settled (he's suprised me how good he is, how high up the field he plays and how creative he is) and knowing the qaulity of RVP then if i was offered £50m for rooney then im affraid he would be off. he's out till october. it'll be christmas before he's anything like being match sharp.

Seems happy enough to me:

"Read the nonsense in the papers and heard what people have to say. absolute rubbish #heretostay."

Wasn't it Rooney who had to rubbish some rumours about a falling out with SAF some time ago as well? The journo then got universally ridiculed.

Thank you Rooney for shutting some people up, whoever thought this was a "falling out" in any way is just ridiculous.

This is why twitter can be good sometimes.

Rumours squashed like that with one simple (semi-literate) sentence.
It has been good this time, with Rooney squashing that rumour. But twitter just as often creates rumours and stories out of nothing as well

2.1 - Since his debut, Man Utd have scored 2.1 goals per game in the PL with Rooney playing, vs 1.67 without him

Great news that he's staying. Even if he's not that good anymore (according to some in here), it's way better than if he's leaving. Wouldnt have been good for the club. See also Van Persie.

I think it was in January this year that the Indy ran a massive front page about how Rooney was on his way out, and the club put out a statement telling them to shut the feck up before the paper had even been published.

It wouldn't be a total loss if he left..shocking, yes, but he is replaceable.

Honestly, no he isn't. Name me one player that can contribute as much as he does, or is generaly as good as him, one that we could also get...sorry to tell you this, but he's irreplacable. I mean sure, you can not play him and play someone else there instead, but he won't give you what Rooney gives you, no fecking way.

Did anyone notice the applause which Rooney received when he came onto the field on Saturday. I like his response via twitter, this is utter nonsense. The fact that the club has also not seen any need to respond says it all.

Rooney and Sir Alex have all along agreed that he is getting better every season. What we as fans should do is ensure that the player is appreciated everytime he dons the red shirt of united.

Losing Rooney wouldn't mean that we'd have to look for a similar player who could have the same quality and importance to the club. Some players are just too unique to find replacements and the best example was Cristiano.
He left but Valencia came and the team changed its style and shape and things have been more than fine since then.
If Rooney was ever to leave then the club would have to adapt

I think it's fair to say a fit RvP can contribute as much, not to mention we now have Kagawa so we don't need Wayne playing behind another striker any more.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I'm not worried at all about him being injured. I would rather see Kagawa and RvP start together right now and it will likely mean we don't have to play a bunch of people out of position to try and fit them all in to the side.

It's one thing to say we'd somehow be able to cope without him, it's another saying he himself is replacable.
And honestly you need atleast 2 players to "replicate" what Rooney does more often than not.

Ok, Rooney wanted to go elsewhere because he felt the club wasn't showing ambition (Although he may have been a greedy twat wanting more money). So the club decides to buy players who would ease the pressure on Rooney (like RvP and Kagawa)

Now Rooney wants a new club because of those players. Meh.
I don't know how the minds of football journalists work.

What's more important for United is the notion that the club would be able to cope without him.Whether he's individually replaceable or not means feck all
