Drop him from the squad for the next two games, give his winners medal to Powell.

All you sad princesses have is an internet connection. Calm the feck down.

If you'd asked me 24 hours ago, I would have said that Fergie intended to play Rooney in midfield next season. Now I'm not so sure.

If he really has asked to leave again be has to go, the new manager doesn't need a player who wants to be elsewhere creating a bad atmosphere, so take the money, thanks for the goals and bye bye.

If he hasnt he needs to get a statement out denying it ASAP or his position here will be untenable regardless. Either way, it's going to be an exciting summer.

Wouldn't accept anything under £50million in today's market.

What market?

There's only a handful of players who went for that kind of money and it doesn't happen every year.

I don't want Rooney at Chelsea, anyway and I can only see him going abroad, if he leaves.

Second time Rooney has asked to leave...so thanks for the memories and feck off. As I said in the other thread, perfect opportunity to sign a wc mid that we desperately need.

As if replacing the greatest manager ever with Moyes wasn't bad enough yesterday, now this! No wonder Rooney's been left out recently!

Still, presumably he's asked to leave because he's been reduced as the main man due to VP. But now Fergie's gone, maybe Moyes will have other ideas.

They patched their differences up...I think!

Wouldn't be a great intro for Moyes, selling Rooney!

I don't think anyone's attached, any real feeling I had for him was tarnished in 2010 and it's never got back to that same level I'm afraid. If he leaves that is up to him, I don't get why anyone would hold it against him. If we didn't have RVP I'd care a lot more.

Really it's just wr8. He's doing everything within in his power to say there's nothing in these reports. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't but it doesn't look great if the club have confirmed he made an informal request.

For me, if they are 100% true, Rooney has fecked himself over.

Why does he always ask to leave in the middle of the bloody season? Keep your mouth shut and suck it up until the season ends/transfer window opens.

is it another one of these stupid attempts to get a wage hike, and he's gutted we've made it public?

Last time we shat our pants and allowed it, this time he may find we don't.

Finally making sense why the Lewandowski rumours carried on repeatedly

Wayne Rooney at 17 was a better player than he is today. Period.

This is the second time he did this and his only motive is more money. He is not the same player any more so as far as Im concerned, if he wants to leave, he can f**k off.

He had more unexpected flair and pace, but wasn't as well rounded.

You're remembering the explosive, rather than the all round game.

He certainly hasn't the same pace or fitness now. Can't see him getting much into his 30s, and hated the midfield role.

Rooney wanted big signings...got a few then found himself out of position or being subbed...goes to manager and crys....the guy is a prick of the highest order and to be honest, now that Alex has gone and we are obviously going to go through a massive transition, I'm quite happy to see him leave.

You could see for the last few months he's lost so much drive and passion and that is the strongest indecator its time he had another challenge. I just think we have got the best out of him. Physically he's not going to be one of those players who lasts, so come 30 odd he isn't going to be as effective no matter who he plays with.

I do believe the stories that he had asked for his transfer a few weeks ago and I can understand his reasoning as well. He's won everything here, aside from the goalscoring record there really isn't much more for him to do. The cow in the field is starting to look much better again and he may want to play in a different league, and there's nothing wrong with that.

What I do think is pretty shitty, is that this story was probably leaked by his management team and the timing couldn't have been any poorer. I don't know how much say he has in these things, but with the "sky is falling" attitude about the club right now, the last thing we needed is stories of our star player wanting to leave.

Perhaps. Journos have been saying the reason for the late release was because it was only confirmed by the club today.

Fergie used to do his business early, so with Moyes not even yet in charge, what does that mean for potential transfers?

Clearly he'll have watched many of our games and have his own thoughts, but he'll need plenty of settling in time before he can go around lashing money out.

The Rooney thing is a horrible intro to the club. Hopefully he can calm him down, and assure him he'll be a key player, or sell for maximum money, but know we'll need a big player as a replacement.

If he asked for a transfer two weeks ago then why would the club come out and say he's not for sale today of all days?

Do they always have to respond in a timely fashion? I'm sure the circumstances might be a tad different if it was an official transfer request.

I would argue he had a better all round game, bar finishing, back then as well. Passing was better, still had that long range passing ability, ability to dribble, shot from distance more often.

Is there anything official about this or is this just a nerd on a pc making this crap up. If wazza comes out and says he wants to go then sell him and re-invest, but until this is officially confirmed I ain't gonna slag him off or start speculating

Usually there is speculation for a reason.. and with Rooney there has been previous, not to mention throughout the season where he has been dropped, looked disinterested etc. Too many pieces of puzzles fit it seems.

I say let him go. Second time of asking, clearly he isn't 100% happy here. Let him leave. No point being bitter about it. He's given us 9 or so fantastic years of service, while ending up very high up on United's goal scoring list.

I still love watching him play, because there aren't many players in his mould, so I won't lie to say I'm not disappointed in hearing this news, especially after yesterday's bombshell.

This will be a very busy Summer it seems. Getting Lewandowski suddenly looks pretty damn interesting, but I guess I'll be content going into next season with RVP, Kagawa, Hernandez and Welbeck.

I dunno if this speculation is true, but if it wasn't, surely someone from his side would come out and stamp the 'nonsense' stamp on it, no? Speculation was rife after the Madrid game, and nobody quashed the rumours then either.

I love Wayne Rooney, but I don't understand Wayne Rooney, and perhaps he doesn't understand himself. Perhaps he doesn't understand the power of his own words and what they can mean to so many people. If he wants to leave, then that's fine. He's entitled to wish to leave, but he wanted to leave before, and he backtracked on it a day later.

In his book, which I sadly read (It's awful, but I was interested in what he had to say - not alot). he stated that wishing to leave was the biggest regret of his life. He vowed never to let it happen again, and stated oncemore (like he did a couple of years previous to the first transfer debacle) that he wanted to be at United for the rest of his career.

Only 3 years down the line, here we are again. What were his initial reasons for leaving? The ambition of the club, and the lack of top quality players coming in? So we bring in one of the best strikers on earth who then shines a spotlight on Rooney as being inferior to him, we win 2 out of 3 titles since the original let-me-go pleas and now he wishes to leave again? So really he either meant he wanted us to bring in players who were good, but not as good as him, or really it was just a smokescreen for "give me more money".

Of course, I'm speaking purely as if the rumours are true, which I do believe they are. If it turns out that Rooney himself quashes all rumours about him wishing to leave, then I'll eat my words gladly.

My feeling is he doesn't want to leave as much as he wants to play football week in-week out in his preferred position. He's missed out on that lately. He didn't show it in public (unlike his wife) but he must have felt insulted when left out against Real.

If Moyes can convince him that will change here next year, he might change his mind. If Moyes can't make that promise, it's time to cash in anyway.

Now that Fergie has gone I doubt we will get Lewandowski, it will be harder to get top players for a bit I reckon. If Welbeck could learn to score goals, I would be much happier going into the season with those four!!

Perhaps Colleen had a hand in this. She was visibly unhappy when we didn't start him against Madrid.

I'm not arsed tbh, he's been fading at United for quite awhile, probably the best thing for both parties that he leaves.
