I hope he leaves club top scorer, that's all I hope.

I don't, not if he wants out again. He's given us a lot of years of his time and has done extremely well for us but this will be the second time he's tried to force his way out. It's also the second time he's done it in already shitty situations for the club, granted he apparently wasn't aware of Sir Alex's retirement plans at the time.

So all these journos know about something as major as this that happened 2 weeks ago and none of them chose to report it but now they're all backing up the story after the Mail reported it? Okay

erm, the Fergie rumors yesterday?!? People were using the exact same logic. Cognitive dissonance indeed

Swap with Spurs for Bale. Yes please.

They're probably saying not for sale so the price won't drop. He has two years left. We are in position of strength. I feel for some of our fans if Rooney does leave. If he does, he has my blessing.

Some fans get way too attached to one player. It's not healthy.

Didn't someone say they frequently see Rooney out on the town, drinking and smoking? That's enough reason to feck him off if true. I reckon the guy will be finished by his early 30's if he carries on like that.

Don't you think if it was true we'd see pictures of it every time it happened?

The 'animosity' towards Rooney from many fans doesnt just come from nowhere. Its not like a load of us just woke up one day and thought, I know, lets all hate Wayne Rooney.

It comes from the fact he, and his agent, treated the club and Fergie like shit in 2010, just to get a nice fat contract. And to add insult to injury, he hasnt exactly backed up the wages he managed to get with his performances has he?

Many people have been able to forgive him, move on etc etc. But also, many havent. And I dont see why thats such a shock tbh.

Manchester United insist Wayne Rooney will not be sold after it emerges he asked to leave Old Trafford for second time in three years #mufc

As expected the club rejected his request as he's one of our most valuable assets but if he isn't happy at the club then it's best for both parties if he moves onto another club. It will be interesting to see what excuse he uses this time.

The interest in Falcao and Lewandowski suggests United would sell. I think he has really looked out of sorts for most of the season, and needs a change of direction.

We have not officially confirmed he asked to leave. There are no quotes doing so. The only quotes are from a spokesman which said "Rooney is not for sale".

The idea we confirmed the story comes from the journos who got fed the information off the record, they clearly don't know the meaning of the word.

Tbh, I never 'forgave' him after the stunt he pulled in 2010. Ever since I've been somewhat 'meh' about him.

As an aside, surely United confirming this (if they have?) is a very strange thing to do and puts us in a terrible negotiating position?
So you're just being completely irrational then... You've been begging for our 4th all time goalscorer leave the club for months, and then when he asks to leave, he's out of order for doing so?

I don't think anyone's attached, any real feeling I had for him was tarnished in 2010 and it's never got back to that same level I'm afraid. If he leaves that is up to him, I don't get why anyone would hold it against him. If we didn't have RVP I'd care a lot more.

If Rooney has requested to leave then it will only serve to be indicative of his deteriorating attitude toward the game. He has been marginalised by his own poor form this year yet he has failed to bite back and fight for his place in the team. His performances actually got worse. Is he still Hungary enough?

Norway.

These spokesperson quotes on the BBC saying "Wayne Rooney is not for sale" are probably just the same ones DT and the other journos were banging on about. About how Rooney asked 2 weeks back and was told he's going to be sold and then The Guardian asked United and they said he's "not for sale". So essentially, what the BBC have up on their site now is nothing different from the Tweets we've been reading for the past hour or two.

If he'd really asked for a move 2 weeks ago, I don't think Fergie would have played him vs Villa, Arsenal or Chelsea. Anyway, weren't these same tabloids saying that Rooney wanted a new contract just two and a half weeks ago? Bizarre

If Moyes get the job, Rooney is finished. I will have Rooney over Moyes. In fact, feck Moyes.

It's not out of the blue.. Hundreds of players every year lose their place in the team, lose the faith of their manager and the fans get on their back and they view it as best to leave the club for all parties. It doesn't make him a monster.

Give it a rest, for heavens sake.

Wayne is not a classy guy - he'd shag a grieving widow on her husband's coffin.

I honestly dont want him to go but if he does then I hope we get £30m+ for him and also hope we sell him somewhere abroad if he does go.

Amen.

He was always a tool, but he was our tool to defend. One transfer request is forgivable, a second after a season where he looks half arsed isn't. Just let him go.
