He is chubby. Doubt it was deep enough to get to the muscles.
Plenty of fat in the way

At least fecking internationals are not fecking internationals this September.

Welbeck proper pussies out at 18 seconds.

Sounds nasty.

Speaking about Wayne Rooney's injury after the boot of Fulham's Hugo Rodallega catches the Manchester United striker's thigh: "Where the muscle is I think the leg has popped open. It happens sometimes and there is a huge gash there. You can see right through to the bone and it doesn't look particularly nice."

SAF on Rooney: "It's a very bad gash. He's been whisked off to hospital and I think he'll be out for four weeks."

feck sake.

Now it's great to have Van Persie. As much as I didn't want to lose him at all, I'm nowhere near as worried as I would've been last season.

Bad news, but thankfully we are well stocked in strikers.

We would have been fecked if we didn't have RVP though.

Very nasty cut that, hopefully he's not out for too long.

SAF on Rooney injury: "It looks a bad one, he could be out for four weeks."

With the international break coming up, hopefully Rooney only misses the Southampton game.

With RVP and Kagawa plus Hernandez and Welbeck we should be able to cope with Rooney. England too should be fine without him, they have Carroll.

If true, he will miss Southampton away, Wigan at home, first CL game. 4 weeks until Liverpool away.

If he means back in 4 weeks then it'll be missing just 2 games.
Or if he returns to training in 4 then he misses 1 more game.

edit: forgot about CL.

 @ Welbeck! Pussy.

The good thing about this summer's signings is that there won't be the need to rush an important player like him so hopefully he'll come back fully fit

Horrible looking injury, reminded me on the one Nani got at Anfield the other year.

Twit of a ref ignores Roo's gesture, asking for assistance to stand.

Being our for 4 weeks isn't the problem - it's the amount of time Rooney takes to get back up to speed after an injury.

At least in this instance, he hadn't got up to speed in the first place this season...so in 4 weeks he should be where he is now.

This international 2 week break couldn't come at better time after Southampton. With so many CBs and now Rooney out.

Last year if this happened we'd be fecked. With Kagawa and Van Persie now on board I think we'll manage just fine

Agreed.

Naturally I'd be keen to see Rooney back as soon as possible because I believe when everyone is on song our strongest XI has Wayne Rooney in it operating in the David Villa role on the left with Van Persie up top.

However given how well we played before his introduction today and how well Van Persie and Kagawa have settled in I think you're right to say, unlike last season, a relatively short term injury to Wayne won't derail our title chase.

Lets hope he gets stitched up tonight and is back in training soon nonetheless.

I am not feeling even near worried as I would have been last year. With Kagawa and RVP added to Hernandez and Welbeck we should be fine.
