Would you be happy with this season if we had just bought him for £40 million? No chance, would have been regarded as a flop.

For all the passion/aggression and shit everyone praises him for, he looks half interested for many games. The passion is used up in needless shit.

Playing like he is not enjoying it.

When he plays like this it really does look like he doesn't care enough. He was gently jogging most of the time, barely broke into a sprint.

I still think we're asking too much of him. We can't expect consistency if we keep playing him in different positions.

He is Heskey in disguise...his touch and passing is shocking.

Plus where has his pace gone, he can't run at players anymore and he has the the fitness of Ando, i sincerely hope he has not been hanging out with him!!!

That was shocking. Say whatever you want about him but that performance is inexcusable. Its not like he was lively and just unlucky, he really did look like he just didn't give a feck.

I will give say that he had no set position it seemed which today didn't work for him. Not sure if the role made him worse today or he just didn't give a shit

He was shit today. Still felt weird seeing him beeing subbed somehow. He always made himself available at least and I always have the feeling sth might come off for him.

Still very dissapointing game for him.

I'm not angry with his performance, just a bit confused, and satisfied that Fergie took him off. He must be under no illusions by now that he can't just show up and expect to play whatever form he's in. Next season will be a big one for him, but hopefully by then the sight of him being subbed off won't prompt hysterical reactions about him maybe leaving.

Lack of form and lack of fitness can be forgiven, lack of interest can't.

He is probably as seek and tired of playing out of position as I am watching him play out of position.

If he's really unhappy playing slightly out of whatever position he thinks is his best (which I doubt is the case), then he must realize he's not doing enough to demand he gets played where he wants.

I'm sure if he's sold it'll all come out in the wash regarding his dip in form. He'll probably do a bit of a Keano and be outspoken about why his form has been so dire

Then maybe he should ask to drop down in wages and only say he will play as a striker. You know, he's on a hell lot of money and this is what we get.

Arguable. He was very deep most of the time. Almost like a third midfielder.

He looked to have a bit of a free role to me, played just behind RVP with a license to come deep. Can't see how that can be an excuse for playing shit considering he's always liked to come deep.

I thought today particularly showed the difference between Kagawa and Rooney when they play in the hole. Rooney's style when there is usually to move to the midfielder and then sort of half turn to spread it wide, where as Kagawa is much more comfortable either taking the ball in his stride or turning to face the opposition goal in a tight space. Carrick was playing those on the ground passes all game and the way they reacted to them was quite interesting. In tight games like these I really think we get a lot from kagawa there, in a game we're dominating or with more space I think you'd want Rooney for his greater goal threat.

He was absolutely useless. However i tend to agree.. He's not a midfielder neither is he a blood AM (play in the hole) what ever you want to call it player. Maybe just like his performance he is fed up too. Play him upfront use him to link up with Kagawa and Van Persie and we might see him enjoying playing.

I'm bored of watching him starting off in the midfield and gradually making his way forward, its easy to defend and tedious to watch.

TBH we can say Fergie has not managed to get the best out of Rooney which everyone expected him to be when he first came to United.

Playing him in different positions all the time has also affected his game hugely. Just because he can spray a couple of passes around or put in a couple of crsses doesn't make him a midfielder.

Lack of enthusiasm. It looks obvious that he's not happy being played out of position.

Get seriously pissed off with him when he does that 1) receive ball 2) facing the wrong way, stand looking for a pass until ball is nicked by opposition player 3) glare at teammates things.

Yeah but to be fair you could equally say that if he was playing well enough in his set position then he wouldn't get moved. Doubt Fergie is gonna ask RVP to play left wing anytime soon when he's probably just as capable as Rooney there, similarly in midfield. Rooney has at times been a victim of his own workrate/all round game but also because at times he's lacked that consistency to demand a set spot when faced with the likes of Ronaldo and RVP.

Rooney of old would bust a gut even out of form. He seems to lack aggression and appetite.

He didn't look the least bit interested tonight IMO. I'm not just saying that because he's been linked elsewhere either. He looked lost.

I wouldn't say consistency more just not as good as the player mentioned. Zlatan's a great player but if you got Messi it doens't matter how good you are your just second fiddle.

I dont think he is being asked to play out of position because he wasn't good enough in his natural place, its more to do with us having no creative midfielders.
