Marking Williams 1v1 isn't what cost England last night though. You're wanting to bring him in to fix a problem that wasn't there.

Williams was Spains best player yesterday.

Just because he scored a goal against Walker doesn't mean Wan Bissaka wouldn't have him in his pocket for the full 90 mins as he has constantly done with players twice as good as Williams.

Williams was their best player in large part due to his goal which came about due to his off the ball movement rather than attacking a defender 1 on 1.

Bringing in Wan Bissaka to fix positional errors in defending like we saw with Walker for the goal isn't the solution. Infact it actually compounds the issue as his defensive positioning is far worse than Walkers.

Mbappe, Vini, Son, Salah, Neymar, Mane - would you like some more?

Your saying Walkers mistake wouldn't have been saved by Wan Bissaka's defending - but two players will not make or react to the same problem the same way.

Wan Bissaka would have been much closer to the RB position because walker was playing like a RB/RCB yesterday whenever Saka came back deep.

It's like saying oh Oyarzabal scored a headed goal & Kane would have defintely finished that chance aswell.

One players mistake doesn't count to the other & one players moment wouldn't have been replicated in the same way just because they maybe similair players.

Wan Bissaka hasn't been positionally bad at the back post for a long time.

His heading has improved at the back post.

The only weakness he has is when he is caught well high up the pitch and he jogs back with a brisk walk.

Again that wouldnt have happened due to how deep England played yesterday.

Playing deep and defensive as southgate and then having Saka & Walker switching as RWB, RB, RCB could have been handled all by Wan Bissaka.

Anyway, you don't rate him and it's just a waste of time.

His weaknesses in season 1 are still being protruded to exist in season 4 when actually alot of those weaknesses are not there anymore.

You dont rate him so you go back to how he was in season 1.

He may lead us to giving the opposition a goal or a penalty once in a whole season - but soon as that hapoens then everyone starts crying about how shit he is only because he offers very little as an attacking player so as a defensive player is looked down upon for simply letting in one or two goals in.

Mbappe, Vini, Son, Salah, Neymar, Mane - would you like some more?

And AWB has marked them all out of a game? I don't remember any instance bar Salah at OT last season but he was also positionally suspect and conceded a pen if memory serves. He's a great one on one defender, but I'm not sure he'd have improved England in the Euros and I'd be tempted to sell now for a decent offer. If it's peanuts then we may as well have him for another season as a specialist defender.

I'd add that I'd take Williams over all of those players bar Mbappe and Vini. Point being, he's a top class player. I don't know of any players twice as good in that position.

About as good as we could expect fee wise I think considering he's only a year left and no option to extend.

£15 mill for him, £25 is it for Greenwood (fantastic bit of business that from the sounds of it with +50% of next sale also guaranteed) and maybe we can get a war chest together with Lindelof and Maguire to get de Ligt in still. WOW INEOS these guys are hitting it out of the proverbial park.

I would rip their hand off for 15 million. Would be great to money in for him.

From what iveheard AWB is being used as a counterweight to get Southampton to budge from kyle Walker Peters as his fee is felt to be too high by Southampton. Especially as they've already signed KWP replacement at RB.

Not to say we aren't interested should Southampton remain stubborn...

Doesn't matter, he would be 1 v 1 marking williams.

His weakness is playing players onside - he hardly gets caught off at the back post anymore and at max only costing us 2-3 goals a season at an absolute max.

Anyway, ive seen Wan Bissaka agaibst Salah, Vini, Mbappe, Son and countless world class LW- no one seemed to have got through and utelised his bad positioning to score goals then

Shame. World class players do struggle..
Salah had scored 2 goals in 2 games against Wan-Bissaka at left back. Son had scored 5 goals in 10 games against him. Vini never played against Wan-Bissaka in a competitive game.

He handled himself well against Mbappé, I'll give you that, but saying that "no one seemed to have got through and utelised his bad positioning to score goals then" is a bit of a stretch.

Don't rate AWB at all. I thought he was particularly terrible last season, albeit good in the cup final as was everyone.

I'd be happy to get £15m for him

He did fair pretty well against Mbappé, I'll give you that, but saying that "no one seemed to have got through and utelised his bad positioning to score goals then" is a bit of a stretch.

At left back, which is the poorest I've seen him because that's not his position. Its like rating Hojlund whilst him playing as a CM.

He is a right back.

What about Mane?

What about Doku?

What about Neymar?

Saint Maxmin?

Also did Son Score all his 5 goals after getting the best out of Wan Bissaka or did he score from upfront?

I just watched two of his goals vs United and he got the best out of Eric Bailly not Wan Bissaka

I actually preferred AWB to Dalot. The thing is though you need an AWB type for when you’re gonna be on the back foot or playing against tricky wingers. If he goes we defo need another RB. Can’t rely on Dalot.

I actually like him a backup RB.

Dalot has improved alot, but I prfer AWB v the tricky wingers, so he is good to start say 10-15 games per season, and to come on late to lock down defence.

I think it would be a good move for him. If I'm not mistaken he still misses London and hasn't really settled in Manchester, according to some sources. West Ham are a good London club and seem to have a lot of ambition recently, similarly to Villa or Newcastle.

I'm hoping that A), we can get the fee to be closer to £20m than £15m, and B), obviously get in a good replacement. Either a very good, proper RB who can compete with Dalot, or an RCB who have the qualities in the build-up to play RB like White or Timber at Arsenal. I think Tapsoba could be that guy but seems like he would cost huge money and won't leave Leverkusen this summer. I also wouldn't mind if this meant we won't get a left-back this summer and prioritise a right-back instead. To me the latter has always seemed like a bigger priority for this summer.

I rate him higher than Linde or Maguire. These two should go first, but if the offer is good, then let's go.

Clearout is clearout.

Interesting -- two very different profiles of fullback, so here's hoping he is definitely a strong option and not just West Ham posturing.

I've only spoke about the players you've mentioned. He didn't play against Salah as a right-back (otherwise you'd have a much more damning stats as Salah scored way over a goal per game against us with Wan-Bissaka present).

He's a decent option if your team sits back and doesn't have any space in behind and he's focused on 1 on 1 defending. But time and again — against great and average wingers alike — he was caught in no man's land due to his atrocious positioning. Not coincidentally it happened more often against less impressive opponents as United doesn't play as defensively against them, leaving said space that Wan-Bissaka has no idea how to defend.

Some examples of these goals?

15+5m would be alright tbf.

Would mean we would 100% need to sign a fullback though, despite very limited links to one (Kadioglu being the main one recently). Hopefully INEOS have a sneaky surprise up their sleeve.

I don't think we even need to sell him.

Dalot is a very good rb with more improvement still to come and Bissaka is a solid back up.

15m is nothing.
