Personally, I wouldn't sell AWB. He has a unique skillset and is someone who I would start against every tricky winger.

If anything, it's easier to upgrade on Dalot than AWB, even though Dalot is useful in more games than AWB, if that makes sense

I'm an AWB apologist. People go on like an improvement on him will be easy to find.

We've just seen Shaw miss massive chunks of the season with Malachia dropping out completely.
So I agree with you, the amount of money we'd get from Wan B is probably not worth taking when he's a more than able first choice replacement when Dalot is either out, or over on the left.

It's crazy that this needs to be regularly explained....... but here we are

Not quite sure why you’re responding in such a manner. A few have agreed with me that it’s just not a priority position right now yet you have no response to any points I’ve made.

Meh he's fine, if we sell him and replace him with someone else who's fine then that's.. fine I suppose.

Seems a waste of time.

I was agreeing with you why you getting on to me?

Stories about AWB hosting frequent and loud parties at home, are they true? Anyone who has lived nearabout his house or know someone who does? Wondering wether he's another one responsible for ruining the much needed professional culture at the club.

Indeed. What is the point of another cheap as chips sale when he has to be replaced at far more than we'd bring in and some of us would argue he is a far far better defender than Dalot.

As a big fan of him,

I genuinely think he should stop chewing gum whilst he is playing football and even get a hair cut.

Chewing gum is going to make you more tired, constantly chewing and running at thr same time for 90 mins is not easy as it sounds.

Also his long hair could be dragging him down a bit especially at the times he is trying to run back where he is often seen jogging back after being caught up the pitch.

Bald & no Chewing gum.

In general, we should make this easier for ourselves. If we get adequate offers, then we have to:

1) Ask ourselves. Does he has the quality I want to challenge for say top 4? If Yes, keep, if no sell
2) Spend the cash, plus some additional, on 1) a youth prospect that fits the gameplan and with high potential or 2) a starter quality that can fight with the other player on that position.

I like AWB, and i believe that many fans has been to harsh and unfair to him. This said, I also believe that we should upgrade on the RB position and if we can get an offer of +15m then we should consider cash in

I hope we are able to cash in on him this summer and find a decent replacement. Just not good or consistent enough

I used to play with an extra strength lozenge in to help my poor wrecked lungs get some air. Probably did more harm than good.

Hair cut, ridiculous

I think no. 1 should be whether we think he's good enough for us to extend his contract which ends next summer I believe.

This leads onto your no.1, if he isn't good enough for top 4, is Dalot? IMO, neither are. So sell AWB, go for a promising RB now or be happy to lose him on a free and bring someone else in to fight for the starting position next summer.

Yep, that worked for Martial. Oh wait……. No it didn’t!

defensively he's decent, in possession clearly not good enough. Get rid

His positioning is awful against decent opposition. Good 1 on 1 defender though. Not good enough for United, you need attacking full backs. A player with good positioning would stop a lot of the tackles he puts in before they even get that far that he has to make a last ditch tackle. He sort of reminds me when we had Wout Weghorst on loan, extremely limited.

If we were in the market for a player who had such a specific skillset that he'd only be of some use 3 or 4 games a season would we want that? I highly doubt it.

Still think we need to get rid. He is a net negative for the team in 90% of the games he plays.

my thoughts exactly

perfect player for a team that defends deep - Maguire the same

we need someone more positive and capable on the ball

The reason why he is one of my favourite players is because :

A) We either build a sqaud of 28 players doing the exact same thing playing the exact same position and the exact same strengths and weaknesses

B) Then theres trying to build a good avg 20 players squad who play the same way & then some specialists.

I can't post media yet but i was just looking at some videos :

The guy has blocked of Vini Jnr, Mbappe, Son, Salah, Doku, Neymar, Gakpo, Saint Maximin, Grealish, Diaz and many many more.

Like i dont understand how people cant see how useful he is as part of our squad for what he does bring to our table rather than what he doesn't.

It's the same for me being pleased about signing Zirkzee.

Do we want 2x of Hojlund or are we happy enough with Hojlund to target a different style of CF for different occasions & tactics?

For me, id rather have the ability to play either Hojlund or Zirkzee rather than 2 types of the same striker Hojlund is. Haaland twice or Haaland & Alvarez?

For me what Wan Bissaka does is very useful to a squad and gives us something different to alter our tactics when needed, the same way we may need a more creative striker than a prolific one with Zirkzee over Hojlund depending on the opponent.

A defender who knows how to defend. Yeah, get rid.

He's not good enough to play a high line and if we want to be battling for trophies like the premier league and champions league. His positioning is awful and also his attacking play. I think he's one of the worst I've seen positioning wise. He is a good one on one defender playing a deep line. If we can get 30 million for him and a good replacement its a no brainer. He'd do really well at a team like West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton etc.

I'd be possibly open to him staying as a backup defender but should be no-where near the first team. He's the definition of average.

Like feck he does

Knows how to tackle though, and a very good one on one defender.
Absolutely shite at defending the back post, how awful positional awareness.

Can you show me some goals in this season he has let in the back post whilst playing RB. Or even the season before?

It's like his weaknesses in season 1 is being portrayed in season 4 or 5.

Like many people say he is shit at heading but now actually heads fine especially at the back post.

Can't wait until Frimpong joins Bayern Munich so this shit would end.

His awareness and man marking are questionable to say the least, his pace is overrated and with the ball at his feet he is mediocre.
Other than that, top top defender.
We should make him captain.

That's a reasonable argument. As a top team you would like to be imposing your style on other teams, which is what we should be looking to do most of the time. There will be times when this is neither possible nor wise and AWB is has a useful skillset to have in the squad.

Great point, well put across. Shame i can't give you a like for it.

Yesterday's defending against Nico Williams is why i rate Wan Bissaka so highly.

As an England fan he shouldn't start every game but there is defintely games when you need Wan Bissaka and as seen in our last season with Doku - can lead to us winning a Cup or not.

Wan Bissaka would have had Nico Williams locked up yesterday, just as he has done with every single ALL the best LW in the world.

People said that Walker does the exact same job can see the difference. Walker providing almost nothing attacking wise and cost us some goals & thought he had a poor tournament.

The fact that Wan Bissaka hasn't been called up once for England is crazy because he is a player i would always keep as part of a Squad because he will give you arguably something no one else in the whole world has when and if you need it.

Why do people constantly forget how horrible awb is defending when it's not just a simple 1v1 tackle situation? Good chance there would've been a goal or two from him losing track of a runner, like he constantly does. Shit like this is why we hold on to average players for far too long

Good point. AWB had much better speedy and skillful wingers in his pocket before. He would have locked up the right side and Nico Williams. Things could be very different.

Even if AWB is part of the squad, knowing Southgate there would be zero chance he starts ahead of Walker with the sole goal of locking up Williams. That would be too innovative, too advanced in thinking, you can’t have that.

Are we talking about the same player here? Our AWB is poor wnd there is no way he should start a game for England or even United. He has been so poor and lacklustre for too long and should be sold to Everton

You really think the clubs holds on to players for too long because a couple of fans on redcafe rate them?

This is another level of Low for Southgate

Walker was caught out positionally for the goals, not exposed on a 1v1. Positional sense is one of AWBs biggest weaknesses.

Doesn't matter, he would be 1 v 1 marking williams.

His weakness is playing players onside - he hardly gets caught off at the back post anymore and at max only costing us 2-3 goals a season at an absolute max.

Anyway, ive seen Wan Bissaka agaibst Salah, Vini, Mbappe, Son and countless world class LW- no one seemed to have got through and utelised his bad positioning to score goals then

Shame. World class players do struggle..
