200 plus appearance for us. No wonder we are trophyless having clown like him play for us for this long.

He was shit today though. That much I'll agree with :)

His good games are 1 in 5 though, at best. And that is more due to the opponent being shit. Maguire gets the same treatment. They are both not good enough

Got bullied by Watkins. It was man vs boy. Literally never put a foot in and let Watkins control bouncing balls with ease, was too timid and tucked in behind trying to make it look as if he was doing something.

Is a nothing player. Premier League is not for him.

After the time late on in the second half where Martinez bailed him out again, there was a large shout that came through the TV that I presume was from the Villa bench of "Ollie run at him 'cos you've got him everytime"

Proper Sunday League stuff, and they weren't even wrong... Hell they were probably shouting "he doesn't want it!" when he had the ball too.

Same with every players isn't it?

But I think what particularly frustrates is the nature of Lindelofs mistakes.

Martinez lost the ball a couple of times and got punished. It happens. Fans can accept that now and again.

But shying away from defending, choosing to not make tackles. It's the stuff that gets the blood boiling.

To be fair to him, must be tough while playing on your period.

You should have seen that rant on SheDevilsUnited after we got spanked by Brighton in last season's Match 37.

"The first goal, his [Lindelöf's] legs were wider than a pornstar during a fecking orgy. Okay? That's how wide his fecking legs were. He was too busy not wanting to fecking handle the ball with his hands behind his back, and his legs were wider than a pornstar during a fecking mass orgy."

Pissed me off. Does not win anything as he thinks just running alongside a player is defending. Can't play a high line with a player who can't get the ball from an isolated player. Don't think Watkins lost the ball a single time against him.

This. Martinez will hurry and hassle you. Varane is not as aggressive but nobody is going to try to take him on in a foot race. With Lindelof? Easily control the ball, turn to face the goal and play an easy progressive forward pass to a teammate AND/OR run straight to goal unchallenged where you can play another easy pass or shoot at goal.

Lindelof makes us drop back 10-30 yards every attack the opposition has.

It’s no coincidence our defence goes to crap every time he plays. Awful positioning, he can’t even jockey properly. I’d prefer Maguire and that’s saying something.

I honestly hate this player
It is honestly so frustrating to see this spineless pile of crap getting to play over 130 games for us. Unbelievable and I thought Darmian was shite but at least could defend on an occassion. This piss-weak guy just doesn't like to do it and honestly can't.

Another one to the long list of games when he singlehandedly cost us, not even picked up a yellow ffs for any of his efforts to stop attacks. Can't remember the player in the premier league who would be bullied by absolutely every type of player.

Can't wait for him to finally feck off our club.

An awful 'defender'. He has to be sold in the summer, I can't take another season of his non-committal defending.

He's always at the centre of any performance which we are overrun or outworked. So soft and made Watkins looks like van Basten today with how he held the ball up.

Probably because he has many more bad games than he does have good games.

In seriousness, he makes the same mistakes over and over and hasn't improved this area of his game. It doesn't help that he's weak as piss. It's mental that he's been at the club making 140+ appearances and the club haven't looked to improve his physique or address his lack of aggression in one of the most physical leagues in the world.

He's 28 now. Has he actually shown any dramatic progress since we bought him?

Watching sane people say it was like watching brexit voted all over again

Yeah my only comment was that Ten Hag seemed to favor him. Which was in fact the case today. Hopefully he has learned today that Lindelöf and Donnie just aren't cut out for the prem.

True. But no-one should be saying it now.
TBF choosing between Lindelof and Maguire is like choosing lesser of evil. It shouldn't come to that at all in a club like united. But here we are.

Lindelof disgraced the shirt today. Not just today and I’ll acknowledge he’s been worse, but he has no excuses for the “performance” he put on today against this opponent, an opponent not gifted with world class talent or Olympian athleticism.

Disgraced the shirt. Give it a rest. It pains me when we turn in to a group of hysterical teenage girls. Can we just agree that he was shit and move on? All footballers are shit sometimes. Did we want Harry to start?

The downgrade from Varane to Lindelof is like going from fresh steak to taking the reduced meat that's never got bought and is about to be chucked in the bin.

He's so weak. So many horrible situations could be avoided if he was just about to put his body in the way and take a yellow card. That's where Maguire has the advantage over him. However, both are no way fast enough to cope with runs in behind when we press up. Lindelof vs Leon Bailey was like a F1 car versus a tricycle.

Can't believe he's lasted as long as he has. Can't believe we thought this fella was going to be the answer in our defence once. If these are our wilderness years he's our Phil Babb. Honestly think Tuanzebe, despite looking like bambi on ice for us mostly, would be better. At least Tuanzebe can keep pace with people and be a speed bump. Nobody slows down facing up to Lindelof. Passing him is like passing go in Monopoly.

Most focus is (rightly) on the third goal, but what in the actual feck is he doing for the first goal? Why is he following Watkins across the pitch without really doing anything to him? Either drop in or you know foul the bloke like any normal defender would. It's the first 5 minutes, you're not going to get a booking.

Its the same old, same old with Lindelof. He's always sorta in the right place but never seems to do quite enough. He can always turn around and shout at someone else and say: 'Well I was tracking him'. Almost feels he always has one eye on being able to claim the f-k up was someone else's fault cos he 'did his bit'. I still remember him and Bruno having words in the Europa League semi against Sevilla. To me, that typified him as a player. Someone who just does enough to claim that its not entirely his fault. You rarely see him take control or responsibility for a situation.

He absolutely shits it when defenders are running at him, he literally just backs off and let’s them run. He gets turned inside out far too easily, yes he does have good games but they are few and far between.

Disgraced the shirt  Whats next? Pissed on the badge?

Disgrace is a bit dramatic.
He had a bad game. Maybe worst of the lot today.
But it is really a toss up between him and Harry still. We desperately need someone really good to properly challenge a fit Varane even. Tall order and no clue who but we need to try.

Was always a poor signing from the moment we were linked for me. Before coming here and his whole time here he has never been anything more than an average defender.

Probably 4/5 excellent games, 30/40 really bad ones and the other 755 of the time he is really really average at best.

Never liekd him or beleived in him....but ironically, ths summer for the simpel reason you can almost guratnee he will be average at best, I would keep him. Jones finally goes when the contract ends, Bailly seriously needs to go before he becomes the new Jpnes, Tuanzabe has never progressed despite the odd good game and has to go and Maguire is a deent entre bak that has been really poor here....but isnt a starter and you dont keep a player payin gthat fee and wages for on the bench and I doubt he will want to be on the bench this time of his career....needs to go.

So I keep Lindelof as 4th choice and buy a young quality centre back to challenge Varane

What's new? it's the same rubbish defending we've seen for years now. How he is still here is beyond me.

He did the same thing in pre season against Villa, he's now done it again.

He's just too clean to be a defender. No aggression, won't take a foul.

Had a bad game but he’s been good so far this season so not too worried. Over enthusiastic at their first goal. Should have just backed home instead or stayed in position. However there were 3/4 United players behind him and someone, in this case Dalot, must cover behind if the CBs leave their position.
Too passive at their third goal, plus three red players hiding in the same space in the box is not good defending.
Poor, just like the whole team today.

Good idea in theory but I doubt the captain of the Swedish National Team will stick around here as 4th choice. We're much more likely to see him go and Bailly or Tuanzebe take his place

As a rule of thumb I'm sure every bad game Lindelof has, Dalot has an equally bad one. Something about those two doesn't work well together

Sell both Lindelof and Maguire and replace one with a free transfer and the other with a CB who is technically, physically and athletically gifted. The proceeds from the double sale should cover the potential incomings.

I don't know who the free transfer could be but there's plenty of options if we're prepared to sell both Lindelof and Maguire and look to spend the proceeds from a sale on a replacement. There's so many good CBs in Europe and we're handicapping ourselves with CBs who are weak at defending a large space, and in some cases refusing to defend at all.

If either are at the club to start next season EtH is done for.

The transition of this squad at a snails pace can not be allowed to continue.

He plays CB like he's a winger asked to play out of position so the expectations are very low.

I think ten Hag will realise quickly because in his role it's important to be decisive when it comes to making decisions and the below is one of many examples where Lindelof has been found wanting. Cleaning up the mistakes of his predecessors should be a priority imo.
