A fecking pussy. Always has been. How can you jump so soft and be beaten by a guy 10cm shorter than you? Absolutely horrible mistake. If anything Maguire has exposed his weaknesses and his supposed abilities.

Really, many had him our player of the season last year. Maybe less focus on one player and look at the broader and bigger picture.

Last two games he’s looked weak in the air and made mistakes, was punished today. Who cares what many thought last season, Maguire and AWB are our best defenders by far going by this season. Being the debatably the best defender in last season where we really struggled to keep a clean sheet is hardly a glowing endorsement.

His lack of ability in the air withstanding, I'm sick of his shit, safe passing. I mean what's the point in him at the moment?

Can we now stop pretending he's a good defender? Everyone and their grandma knew he's always gonna be a liability with a mistake in him considering he's slower than a turtle and is way too soft.

Never better than Smalling, not even last season.
Lindelof was better for the second half of the season. However there's a lot on here who refuse to acknowledge that Smalling was better in the first half of the season, and overall they were fairly even despite Smalling actually having his worst season for a while.

There's a lot of people on here talking about his lack of aerial ability. In his defence he actually did improve quite significantly last season in that regard, but unfortunately he seems to have gone backwards a bit again this season so far. Obviously it'll never be a strength of his, but hopefully he'll continue improving so it's not necessarily a weakness either.

Rubbish. They haven't got the ability to target shit. They came for a draw and got the win.

Both their goals where in his area. Wasn’t at fault for the second goal but was certainly in the area he’s responsible for. Just a coincidence... I don’t think so.

One thing I will say about Lindelof is, he had a disaster start to both his previous seasons at United so this shouldnt have been unexpected. And presumably he will improve again like he has done previously.

Obviously we need better than a CB who takes half a season to become a decent defender though

Hey I heard Barcelona are interested in Vic, quick Ed, give him a monster contract.

This management kills me.

No they wont, they want to win. Smalling would never have lost that header though. Lindelöf isnt good enough not even close.
And Smalling has never made mistakes? Lindelof messed up and deserves scrutiny but if we were a top team (as we’re aspiring to be) we’d have already been 2 or 3 goals up by then at home against a Hodgson team.

The problem with this logic is that we arent, plus Smalling isnt good enough either but he is better than Lindelöf. He has both pace, heading ability and positioning, if we are going by this team building thing Tuanzebe should be playing.

Lindelof made the mistake and he is to blame for missing his header. But there is also mitigating circumstances and the moment the ball was hit forward and even before it reached Lindelof I thought " hey what is going on? Where is Maguire"? Maguire should be much closer to Lindelof and Shaw being on the pitch was mistake. It was a cumulative issues at that particular moment in time.

If you ever wondered what a bang average defender looks like, then look no further than Victor Lindelof. He's got composure with the ball, but that's it.

This.

He made one mistake today and hopefully he learns from it. He wasn't the reason we lost today, that was down to inept tactics and our lack of attack.

I still can't understand how can a defender lose a header to Schlupp after goalkeeper's kick out. I am not sure I ever saw it in my life.

He actually is prone to this. A boot upfield is an opportunity.

Seeing Matip score a heade and generally look his solid self, makes me laugh at people thinking our CB duo was better than Liverpool's.

He made one bad mistake, but still there's no way a player should end one on one against the keeper after a header from ball from the keeper. Poor defending from Maguire as well.

Seriously guys, if one is to blame for the goal. It’s not vic, were the f*ck was maguire? It was his ”man-marking” that was at fault. Aerial duels can be lost and if we should function as a team, there should be someone covering. Some of you guys should start watching tennis, golf or whatever were you can blame only one person. Jesus christ guys, we are not a team yet, hopefully we will be in a month or two.

He can't teach himself how not to be so soft nor can he magically increase his pace and speed.

One mistake? One? One? He made several mistakes throughout the game and keeps making them over and over again. He ain't gonna learn. He's soft.

I can understand being beaten by someone running in to a jump against you standing but there was another incident where he was beaten again and it was just a straight jump. Smalling would have won both just saying

I do enjoy some of his passing and ability on the ball. You can see the benefit of it I’m just a little concerned about his defensive abilities especially at the highest level.

There's little benefit to his passing. It's just the same safe, sideways and passive passing with reluctance to take responsibility. When he isn't passing to his CB partner, he is passing to the adjacent fullback. He fails practically everytime he gets the ball off the ground, rarely passes between the lines, and can't even switch play to relieve pressure or launch attacks. The only thing that separates his passing from that of Smalling, Jones and Bailly is that he looks more graceful. Infact, Jones plays more incisive passes and is able to switch play. Maguire is the one that is actually playing the passes in that defence.

Yup, Lindelof has benefited greatly from looking tidy on the ball. His touch is good and he moves the ball on quickly... But in no way is he actually a good passer of the ball....and he's got even worse this season now he knows he's next to someone who can pass the ball.

Jones and Smalling are better than Lindelof. I am not saying this just because he lost an aerial duel against Crystal Palace.
The ONLY reason United fans THINK Lindelof is a good defender is because they hate Jones and Smalling.

Yes he lost the header, but how on earth did Ayew find himself through on goal without anyone near him from it?

Utter madness.

Maguire covering Shaw.

Maguire covering Shaw.

I’ve not seen the goal back but that is terrible communication all round if that’s the case. From a goal kick your CB shouldn’t be covering a LB.

Wasn't a goalkick I think. James pressed and their GK hoof it.
