I don't write him off just yet, its too soon but Zlatan better drag his ass off to the gym every night after training to shape him up and teach him some kickboxing.

He needs to put in some serious overtime.

Seems to be a very bad defender... how do I apply for a game at Utd!?

Shocking to see his mistakes. As a Swede I am really sorry for him. It takes courage to turn this poor start into something good, and I'm not sure he'll make it.

I am trying to think of a softer CB in all my years watching Utd. He makes Johnny Evans look like an animal in comparison.

I say give him until the end of December to adapt, if by then he hasn't got his act together, get rid of him in the January window. United needs to be ruthless with players the same way they were with Moyes and Van Gaal. The decision to sell Blackett and loan Fosu Mensah is looking more wrong each passing day, and Jones can't stay fit, get rid of him aswell if he doesn't improve.
No it isn't. He is still shit.

He's been missing headers and allowing balls to drop behind him since day 1. Remember the super cup goal. He's just a bad player full stop. Sometimes you buy a dud, write it off and get rid of it immediately. It's bad for morale and may even infect others.

He's the new bebe, poor player from a shit league who was bought by mistake.

I have yet to see anything that doesn't suggest hes well out of his depth. It's not his first game for us anymore, he's been here long enough that we ought to be seeing improvement.

His headers aren't going to improve with settling down.

He's just not a good defender for EPL. He'll be good in CL games against mediocre teams but any terrible EPL team will use his weaknesses to its full.

Even for the first goal, he got turned by the attacker so easily. I would have ignored it if this was the first time I was seeing it. But I have seen attackers do the same thing more than a few times and he looks absolutely clueless during those situations. One of the worst defenders in a 1vs1 scenario. I'm pretty sure any of our other 4 defenders other than Blind would have got a successful slide tackle in before the shot was taken.

What was the party line in pre-season? About how bad Vidic and Evra were at first? Do we have enough evidence now or not?

Rio had some shockers at the start of his career with us as well.

So stfu and support the guy, he's here for 3-4 months, still has loads of time to get back on track.
Terrible comparison.

You mean Rio made the odd mistake as does every defender but they were probably more noticeable because of media interest in the dearest defender transfer fee.

At no time did Rio look scared of heading a ball, lose lots of 50/50 tackles, regularly get caught out of position, regularly get muscled off the ball (AND Rio was great with ball at feet).

If Lindelof was 18/19 and not only new to Premier League but relatively new to top league level football, then would maybe cut him some slack. But he's 23, been playing for ages and (i) doesn't look talented enough and (ii) doesn't look mentally strong enough.

What would you do, play him until the end of the season and watch him cost United 10-20 points?

He needs to man up, listen, put in extra training.... or go.

Why did Mourinho throw Lindelöf in instead of Blind? What did Blind do to have this plonker above him as a CB?

I'm starting to think Lindelof was bought because he's a Jorge Mendes client and not for footballing reasons.

Shambles of a footballer.

Jose is so competitive with Pep that he had to get his own Swedish version of Stones. In this case, it's fair to say that Jose is winning.

Honestly wouldn't mind if we sold him in January. Nothing player. We have Baily,Rojo,Smalling,Jones(lol) and Blind already.

He made a bad mistake and i dont think he did that great in the first but cut the guy some slack. Hes 23, Vidic was older when he came here and was appalling.

Not everyone takes to the game like Bailey

Should've bought Blind on then to settle the nerves of everyone then. Clearly we were lacking composure, even Mata wasn't composed which was so unlike him.
Having said that, he's making basic defensive errors like not heading the ball and not league specific errors. Had he been outpowered there, Id'd have hopes from him, but these are basic defensive things that are same across all leagues

The same Blackett who was so bad at Celtic that they sent him back? He's absolutely awful.

When he signed , I couldn't figure out why, he ain't a mourinho player imo. I suggested that he'd been signed on zlatans recommendation, some of the resident experts scoffed and told me ...as if that happens in football . I still stand by it.

Vidic joined in January and didn't have a preseason.

Lindelof mistakes aren't because of him not settling down, it's because they're really his weaknesses as a defender.

The biggest issue with him is he's far too small to be a PL centre back. He looked good on Wednesday against a team where everything was to feet and everyone was under 6 foot tall. In the prem you come up against all sorts and you have to head the ball multiple times during a game, you have to be strong in a physical altercation. No amount of experience is going to make him better at these things and this is where it's very different to Rio and Vidic. They were built to be centre backs. This guy clearly isn't. I can see him moving towards being maybe a wing back. He's 6'2 which isn't "short" but he's just not got the build.

The decision to sell Blackett was right. He's not good enough.

It's become such a myth this. Right from the get go you could see Vidic meant business even if he was still adapting.

Re Lindelof: I don't recall another player having such a slow start to their U it's career. I can't believe the adapting process is this difficult.

We have a lot of deadwood still here. I would not put it all down to Lindelof. £400million worth of talent and it took until the 76th minute for a shot on target.

Vidic was never appalling. He had some poor moments in his first 6 months, but there was also plenty to like about him. The good certainly outweighed the poor. Basically similar to Bailly last season.

While I hope that maybe Lindelof can somehow turn it around, he really has been shocking so far.

Agreed about Vidic. He wasn't great when he came but you could see that he wasn't afraid to be here. There was obvious ability there. Evra however I didn't see it with him. Gladly I was wrong on him.

Interesting how some Man Utd fans were eager for Smalling and/or Jones to be sold in the summer and wanted Lindelof starting. The former two have been great this season and Lindelof has maybe had one good match, against Benfica.

His agent should start looking for a new club. I don't see any redeeming factors. He's not even technically special, of good at distributing to make up for his long list of weaknesses. We have plenty of money we'll buy some one else. We should get 15 million back at least.

Sometimes you buy a true bargain like bally, sometimes you buy a dud. It's part of the business. He should get plenty of stick to encourage him to leave.

This is not me having a go at him but remember when we played that pointless game vs Arsenal away last season, Axel played RB because JM said that he isnt ready to play as CB, kid had Sanchez in his pocket whole day, so is Lindelof ready ?! Whats the difference? In current state doubt its form/quality, whats left as reason why one cant get a sniff while Lindelof getting chances while playing like that. Similar question can be applied with others like Mkhi etc.
