Rio had some shockers at the start of his career with us as well.

So stfu and support the guy, he's here for 3-4 months, still has loads of time to get back on track.
 
I say we could leave out all the feck off Lindelof etc, that's utter classless. But he was terrible. End of.

Too much glorifying defenders for non-defensive work I guess. He didnt look a particularly good defender, didnt defend all that well in the champions league last season with his team conceding many goals, so I obviously questioned if he's a half decent defender when we were linked with him. But the grass is always greener, any player we dont have is more appealing than the one we do have to the masses so everyone just assumed he must be better than Smalling and Jones. As a central defender, the ability to actually defend must come first. Sure its not perfect if your CB isnt the best on the ball, but thats secondary to actually being a good defender. This should be a reminder that nobody should have needed, but Lindelof is providing anyway.

For the record I hope he bounces back and gets to grip with the premier league. But as of right now hes been a disaster and a half.
 
Said it when we signed him and he's just confirming it now He's a nothing player, worst signing we've made in years.

Cut our loss and Get rid in the summer, it's seriously pissing me off we spent so much on him and we've got tuanzabe, TFM not playing and loaned.
 
It’s ridiculous but he looks so bad that I can see this being his only season at the club. He can still turn it round but I can see him hardly playing and then being ditched, mourinho isn’t patient and is happy to write players off.

Still feel he is much better than he has shown but i would rather have seen tuanzebe or TFM given a chance.
 
Looks like he's going to be the worst signing we've made in recent years, which is some achievement considering some of the rubbish we've bought.
 
Totally out of his depth. Should have brought on Blind instead. This guy needs to be dropped to the Reserves and sold on asap. Shocking in the air and slow too. He's our Stones.

Absolute garbage. Rio Ferdinand actually had talent. This guy is playing instead of a much more talented youth product and has no talent.
 
I say give him until the end of December to adapt, if by then he hasn't got his act together, get rid of him in the January window. United needs to be ruthless with players the same way they were with Moyes and Van Gaal. The decision to sell Blackett and loan Fosu Mensah is looking more wrong each passing day, and Jones can't stay fit, get rid of him aswell if he doesn't improve.
 
I will be trembling in fear if he plays against Spurs next week. Just put Blind in there with Smalling if Bailly or Jones aren't ready

No I don't support the guy, because he looks like he belongs in our U18 team at 23 years of age. He needs to shape up, grow a pair, get out there and perform. He doesn't need to be the next Rio or Vidic, but there's no excuse to be THIS bad every time he gets out there.

Sort this shit out or give Tuanzebe back his place on the bench.

As a fellow Swede it hurts twice as much to say it but he’s a complete train wreck. If he never plays for United again it will be too soon.
 
Not the best of starts. Playing for United is not the same as playing in Portugal. I dont see him turning it around.
 
It's not like players around him are covering themselves in glory. Won't blame him alone. Whole team should be ashamed.
 
Nightmare for him after doing well the other night, the PL looks like it's still too quick and physical for him.
 
I refuse to believe we bought him to play like this. His individual mistakes are non excusable but this is laughable. Using him as a last defender battling man to man duels. Have Mourinho lost his mind? Why short sideways passes to nearest teammate. This isn’t his strength.

Today he was absolutely rubbish. But I repeat myself. This is not the same player I saw last season. Either he can’t cope with the pressure or he isn’t mentally tough enough to be a United player.
 
Play him in the cups and in the CL group games, and keep him far away from the starting XI for the league.

I'll be pissed off if he starts against Spurs. Bailly on one leg will be a better defender.
 
He should not play CB until next season. Let him play RB in cup games as he's played there before and let him build back his confidence. He has not one at this moment in time and it will take time to get it back.
 
He makes Smalling look half decent...and Smalling is about as braindead as they come. Lindelof has looked hopeless every minute he's played...The Iceman ffs!

Stones can actually half defend and is comfortable on the ball, even under pressure. Lindelof shits himself the minute he steps on the pitch for a PL game and can't deal with simple vertical balls over the top.
 
Didn’t impress today at all. Im not going to judge him yet though, Vidic was atrocious to begin with too. Not comparing them by any means but im certainly not writing Lindelof off already like some.
 
I wouldn't panic with any decisions with him yet. He could do with bulking up a bit cos he's getting bullied by strikers.
 
He should never play for United again. Rather play tuanzebe who can't be much worse. Has nothing, small, slow, can't tackle, absolutely can't head the ball and mentally weak.

Small time play from a small league who doesn't belong. Reminds me of bebe.
 
I think Jose needs to put Lukaku on him in training to toughen him up a bit.

Think it is harsh. He is not a bad defender. I think things have just not gone right for him and I don't think he can deal with the pressure at the moment. I was against the signing from the start, but we should not fully rule him out to turn things around.

Can need some help with the mental part of things though. He looked shaky in preseason and today it was not good from him. Hopefully he can bounce back though. It is very early still and people here always overreact after bad games.
 
A central defender that can't win a fecking header. I was all about giving him time but the simple defensive attributes are lacking.
 
At fault for both the goals IMO. Second is obvious. Even for the first one I'd put 50% on him and 50% on Mata. We shouldn't be conceding if we have 4 behind the ball an the attack is a their 2 players charging at your entire backline and that too on a fecking rebound off a save
 
Costly mistake, was of the opinion that he would come good, but starting to look like he just doesn't have the mentality to make the step up. Maybe a less demanding league like the La Liga etc. is more for him. Looking like a poor signing from Jose
 
I don't want to be too harsh on him, considering all things, but really why did we buy him ?? Maybe give Tuanzebe or TFM those chances and they could prove to be better.

It was pointed out that he is weak defending aerial threats, but have not seen any of his supposed positive qualities either.

Agreed with a post in the other thread, it was silly to bring him on instead of blind. We all knew he wasn’t ready yet. He only made his pl debut for 20 secounds last weekend. The cl games he played in were piss easy so not correct preparation at all to be thrown in like that
 
Tuanzebe should be playing ahead of him. Early to write him off but if he is adapting then he should be playing in home games and cup games rather than PL away games.
