Vardy/Kane to replace Rooney in the summer?

Martial is our striker for the foreseeable future, unless somewhere down the line he decides he wants to leave. Wilson will be good cover I think, but other then that we should look for someone to be added depth who can play elsewhere probably. Probably another 10 who can play as the striker in case Martial is out, or a winger who can play up top. But no for Vardy or Kane. Vardy is the type of signing liverpool or spurs would make on the back of a good run of form. Kane is better but still not good enough for the top level IMO. Would be a squad player here as Martial is on a different level to him.

The only Leicester player who could possibly do a good job for United is Mahrez.

If Young and Valencia both left I could see Albrighton helping as a utility wide man who plays hard and can hit a cross, but basically I agree.

Although at the moment, I have no doubt that Vardy or Okazaki would be doing more than Rooney. The increase in mobility would make a difference even if the quality was a bit lessened.

But I can't really see us signing anyone from Leicester.

Griezmann, Reus, or Bale as a Rooney replacement.

That said, i think people are underrating Vardy as there seems to be a stimga around him on here. He would be a decent 3rd/4th striker. He is a mence and is getting his rewards. You know he would give everything with his chances.

Kane is good but he does not convince me he is as good as the amount he will cost

I love Rooney, and will always be one of my all time favourite United players, but it does seem that he might need replacing in the Summer. This doesnt mean he has to leave the club, but he might have to be suffice with being on the bench more often.

If I had a choice, Id go for Kane. Young, English and talented. Really good overall play and can score goals.

I'm not saying we should sign Vardy (there are better options) but I hate the snobbery on here. Vardy is playing really well and would do a much better job than Rooney.

It was the same when Mane was linked in the summer - people on here were all "don't want" and "embarrassing". Then this season, the same people have actually bothered to watch him and now they're like "gawrsh, Mane's actually quite good"

Try watching a few games before you dismiss a player instead of judging them on how big a name they are, or whether they're any good on your FIFA.

Not on his current wage. If he takes a wage cut then I'd be quite open to it.

Rooney, to me, is a club legend. He's not someone we should just get rid of, in my opinion. We should just slowly phase him out. Falcao was on bags of money and he was shite. At least Rooney has done a lot for the club in the past.

He's one of our greatest player but not a club legend. He's a mercenary of the highest order, and willing to use whatever it takes to get a huge pay raise. He's been given far more leeway for his shit performances than his loyalty deserves.

I doubt Vardy's own dad would sign him for us if he was the manager.

Cant someone have a bad season? Im convinced its a bad patch in a glittering career

what a bullshit, Kane's 22, he had a monster of a season last season and he doesn't play bad despite low scoring record, he's in a shit team..
And if you look at the goal return itself, he's on 4 and with Erricksen coming back and Tottenham hitting the form he can easily get back into top and try to win the golden boot as Aguero will be always injured and Vardy will stop scoring at some point.

Vardy's good player but he's 28, you expect from experienced player like him to have a season like this once upon his career, while Kane had a brutal season at his 21 years of age, say full debut season.. How can people compare them is beyond me.

If Kane's available for good money we should definately go for him. Martial can play from the wing as well as no9, Kane's best as no9 ut he showed he can be a good no10 too. It's good to have a good competition in the team and different strikers as well. Martial's 19 and dip in form will come let alone some injury. We need another great striker to lead the line..

Despite all the goals he scored in one season (or should I say half), somehow I am still not convinced by his performance or potential.

Vardy lmao! no. IMO not only is he not good enough to play for Manchester United, but also he's 28 years of age. He's late blooming into his career and his form will start to sieve away soon.

Kane... for the right price maybe but the rumors of his price tag is beyond ridiculous and is no way worth it, as at this moment i'm still not convinced about him. He had great time last season but this season he's stalled, maybe because of the scheduling they had at pre-season who knows. At this moment, not worth the asking price.

Defiantly need a great striker, some like Griezmann, Aubameyang, Dybala, Lacazette etc.

It's called using your experience over getting carried away with a players purple patch. Seen it many times before.

Better than Rooney isn't really a suitable criteria anymore

Blimey - have you guys really lowered your expectations that much? has man utd fallen that low?

You should not be considering Kane (and especially Vardy!!!) to replace Rooney. What a joke lol

despite all his goals, he showed how valuable he is to the team even without the goals... but people must watch him play, not just check livesport...

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I like Kane, but I dont think we can have him and Martial in the team easily, as both will need to be starting, and I/we dont want Martial being wasted out on the wing.
That said, Kane's all-round game is good, and Martial still offers a lot defensively. It would be a partnership that would be interesting to see.

We need someone experienced who can compete with Martial. I am not a huge fan of Lewandowski (even though he has been on fire recently), but him or Benzema would be ideal I think. If Real go in for Aguero next summer then we could nab him (Benzema). Also - the French connection.

Kane would be the perfect strike partner for martial if you signed him.

He'll become a prolific teddy Sheringham if you let him.

Vardy? Don't make me laugh!

Kane is decent and young, but would be so overpriced that I'd rather not.

Martial should be Rooney's replacement, but it's unfair to put so much pressure on a 19 year old. So we need one more world class attacker - I would take anyone from Muller, Lewandowski, Griezmann or Bale.

I watched every week but I am just not so sure. Decent and young yes, but I don't understand all these hype yet.

We will need to get a striker in at some point though. Can't just have Martial & Wilson.

Someone capable of playing across all four front positions would be ideal.

Sorry but have to disagree. he's playing ok this season but not on the same level as last season and Spurs I don't think are a shit team, they are pretty much the same team from last year. Looking outside the usual top 4 suspects, Spurs are probably one of the next best teams to be in. Using his 4 goals this season is a silly way to debate as 3 of those came against Bournemouth, who have been shipping goals for fun as of late.

Dont get me wrong, I think Kane is a good player and age is on his side, but he's not going to be worth the kind of money Levy would charge and I would want United to pay the inevitable big bucks only if he carries his form for another season or two.
