Vardy/Kane to replace Rooney in the summer?

So you can't tell the difference between addons and the basic sum paid in installments? Well that's new but I'm not surprised.

Obviously that's not what I said, but you seem more interested in playing stupid.

Add-ons and the basic sum paid in installments are of course distinct from each other, but they both involve future sums of money. The major difference is (obviously) that basic sum instalments are guaranteed to be payable, whilst add-ons are not. But in most cases the majority of add-ons (if not all of them) eventually end up being paid ... so in practice the distinction between add-ons and basic sum instalments ends up in most cases being negligible except insofar as the certainty of payment-timings is concerned.

No, I'm not the one trying to play stupid here Glaston. I'm happy that you do understand the main difference between the two, of course you can keep on peddling that 'it's only matter of time before you have to pay' to make your point not look completly idiotic but in the end, as I've said numerous times here, there's absolutely no point in quoting the sum with addons until those addons are indeed activated.

No, there is a point. Since most of the time most (if not all) add-ons end up being paid, it's misleading to quote only the basic sum ... and when very large potential add-ons are involved (as with Martial) it become grossly misleading.

The more either think about it, the less likely I can see us pulling off signing Kane.

I think he'd cost a £100m. They simply will not sell for a less, and I genuinely believe they wouldn't even want to sell for that much.

With us needing at least 5 first team players, I don't know if that is realistic for us.

Could see him at Real in a season or two. Golden boy of English football. Would be very disappointing.

I think £60m would get him quite easily to be honest.

Then you would be massively mistaken.

Do you follow football finances? Have you seen the new PL TV deal that kicks in next season?

There is no way on earth Kane leaves for a penny less than Bale at the minimum. Absolute minimum.

Kane isn't exactly having a world class season though. He's been very good but not top tier. Not sure if he would break the Bale transfer.

I guess agree to disagree here.

To be fair though i think you're correct that he may be unattainable. Unless he kicks up a fuss and pushes for a transfer which seems unlikely.

He has average a goal every other game in just Iver 100 appearances for Spurs at age 22. Most weeks, he picks up MOTM. He's been excellent.

He has scored 31 goals last season, and looks likely that he'll reach that number again. He is a better player than Bale was at his age, and IMO, will become only better.

I am afraid that 60m won't cut it, unless Kane pushes very hard for a transfer. Which I don't think he'll do, especially if Spurs reach UCL this season.

And even if Spurs were to entertain the idea of selling him, they will wait til after the Euros in the hope that he has an amazing tournament. This is partially why I was so happy we got Martial last year, if we waited til this summer we would not have got him.

with the new tv deal it's probably time to stop looking at the premier league for players. the fees have got to such mad levels you might as well not have the extra money.

other leagues, players with the potential to be top draw have to be the long term strategy. Or do a much better job tapping players up to stop them signing such mental length deals that ensure their fee is out of this world.

Saw this on f365

Spurs have 36 points this season. If you took away all of the goals that Harry Kane has scored, including his own goal against Swansea, they would have 37.
Ivan, LFC, St Albans.

I think we should steer clear of Vardy, unless we're happy with a short term fix. The reason I say this, isn't because I don't think he is United quality. It's because he's older and much of his game is based around his blinding pace. The last thing we need is a striker whose game is based around athletic dynamism who loses the dynamism as they approach and enter their 30s while being on a huge contract.

He'd obviously be an enormous improvement for us, but for how long? Is that a gamble we need to take right now?

Vardy/Kane won't even replace him in the England team next summer let alone at Utd.

I'm salivating at the media witch-hunt on Rooney next summer. Watch all the pundits who are currently afraid to call him out for being sh1t, joining in unison next July saying how they saw the writing on the wall for the past few seasons.
Woy will get slated for bringing him etc etc...
