Hallelujah!! Years overdue. A diabolical official
Michael Oliver dropped for this weekend's fixtures.
Michael Oliver should not be a referee.
I know still photos are deceiving, but it looks he has a clear view of that awful challenge on Mateta and he doesn't even issue a stoppage in play.
Incompetent is a kind word to describe him.

20 games? What?Oliver really has no business being a ref at the top level. And that insane Millwall keeper should be banned for about 20 games. Lunatic.
I’m exaggerating. But a tackle like this should come with more than the usual three game ban. It was incredibly dangerous.20 games? What?![]()
I agree but 20 games is excessive. I think 5-10 is fair given the danger to the opponent. 20 would be fair if they meant to hurt them but don't think they did, just think they had a very stupid moment.I’m exaggerating. The 20 games were influenced by the clubs reaction. The way they are trying everything possible to portray the keeper as the victim gets me really mad.I agree but 20 games is excessive. Agree with this. It's one of the most reckless, dangerous and inconsiderate things I've ever seen on a football pitch. To quote a great man...The 20 games were influenced by the clubs reaction. The way they are trying everything possible to portray the keeper as the victim gets me really mad.
Not sure if it's as bad as this one:Agree with this. It's one of the most reckless, dangerous and inconsiderate things I've ever seen on a football pitch. To quote a great man...

(but like, he really could've)
Not sure if it's as bad as this one:
I watched that game live on TV, it kinda stands out as one of the most 'memorable' things I've seen in footballYeah don't even need to view that one, it's legendary (and has been brought up a lot since last week's challenge). It's the only one that really comes close, I think.

Only three. How many did Mane get for doing something very similar to Ederson?
I’m not suprised. Ridiculous. How are Liverpool getting away with this
These decisions are as wearing as our performances. Hate this season.
I would not be against the Millwall keeper being banned until the end of the season tbh.20 games? What?![]()
Where’s the ambiguity? He barges into him from behind. There’s no attempt to play the ball. It’s a textbook error.Should VAR intervene for that? Ref saw it and deemed it no foul, was it a “clear and obvious error” on his part? Don’t think this is what VAR was invented for but not sure how it’s currently being applied in Europe.
They wouldn’t have intervened either if he gave the red card though, which also would’ve been correct imo.
There’s nothing really in the rules that says you’re allowed to shoulder barge somebody anyway but generally two people have to be competing for the ball for that to even be considered. You can’t just barge into somebody’s back just because you use your shoulder to do it.It’s riding the line between shoulder barge and shove.
I think he should've intervened. He very clearly pushes him in the back. If this happens later in the game he definitely gives this I think.Should VAR intervene for that? Ehm…, yes? The ref saw a shoulder to shoulder challenge, you’d assume, otherwise he would’ve called a foul. And it absolutely wasn’t that. The only mistake was VAR not following through.Should VAR intervene for that? Ref saw it and deemed it no foul, was it a “clear and obvious error” on his part? Just the pressure of the occassion and minute I think.
Fair enough yeah.Ehm…, yes? The ref saw a shoulder to shoulder challenge, you’d assume, otherwise he would’ve called a foul. And it absolutely wasn’t that. The only mistake was VAR not following through.
Not hard to know you're a Liverpool fanShould VAR intervene for that? Ref saw it and deemed it no foul, was it a “clear and obvious error” on his part? Don’t think this is what VAR was invented for but not sure how it’s currently being applied in Europe.

It was funny how he tried to hide his bias behind that semblance of reasonable debateNot hard to know you're a Liverpool fan
That is a clear red card. If you're saying the ref saw it then he got it wrong. Absolute madness that that was not a red.
Found myself reading those same last 3 words a lot recentlyIt’s riding the line between shoulder barge and shove. Could easily have gone the other way, but I think they’d be within their rights to go with the on field decision.
But once they’ve made the point to review it, there’s not really an excuse. Could’ve gone either way, and it went Liverpool’s.

He booted someone in their head. We have seen with Stephen Hunt on Petr Cech how dangerous that is and the Mateta incident falls into the same category.
Man have you become an annoying poster. Read my last post ffs and even the second paragraph of my initial one.It was funny how he tried to hide his bias behind that semblance of reasonable debate![]()
You're contradicting yourself. If you think that it was a foul and a red card then the ref made an obvious mistake on the pitch and therefor VAR should have intervened.Should VAR intervene for that? I simply think that the ref and VAR didn't have the balls to make the correct call. If it were just a penalty call and not a red either party might have given it.
Michael Oliver-like decision making.
