VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

Penalty on Pedro imo, worse one for me was before when the ball hit Walkers hand as he was running with the ball? If that was us you would bet your house on them pulling it back, but from the looks of it they didn't even look at it?

Refs when it’s time to not give pens against City

Agree with the penalty, should have been one. Did it really hit the hand, though? It looked like it originally, but I can't see the touch looking at the replay.

They can't even be bothered hiding it. A penalty would have changed nothing but nope, nobody is getting anything.

How on earth is that not a pen. I know the game is done at 4-0 but there’s clear contact. From behind. And no touch on the ball.

That is given as a pen against any other team in the league. Its so obvious that they have leverage on the referees en masses. Absolutely ridiculous how often they get away with it. Michael Olivers behaviour in City games alone is worthy of an inquest.

Nudging the ball with your studs = winning the ball. Remember when Lamptey didn't change the direction of the ball and everyone agreed he didn't get enough for a pen?

I've not seen a club getting so many decisions against them as we have. Maybe Wolverhampton. How is that not penalty? Was there even a check on that? Not that it would matter.

The Coventry backlash begins. Penalty from referee isn’t getting overturned there.
But he doesn’t give it…

And Forest. But yeah, it's been a lot this season

He altered the direction more then enough.

Garnacho wouldn't have got the ball as it went straight to a Burnley defender.

You all would have been absolutely furious if that had been given against us.

So if a player dribbles at my opponent i can just pull him down as long at my teammate who was nowhere near the situation gets the ball?

I think it’s a hard one to call. Touching the ball isn’t the same as winning the ball, I’m not sure he wins it, but he does alter it towards the other. Tough one.

Didn't Arsenal get one recently where the player grazes the ball and cleaned out Jesus? Don't think he gets enough on the ball. On the other side of it, Garnacho looks to hang his leg there.

But if the logic being applied is the same as some incidents we've seen in other games, then it should be given. We all know that it's made up game by game anyway, so that one goes under, probably not, but seen them given.

Well no because the player wouldn't have made any contact with the ball, it's two completely different scenarios.

Yeah, just watching his right leg, it doesn't really move. It just hangs and he falls down. I would not call that a dive but he clearly did not got taken out either. Consistently inconsistent PL.

Alters the path of the ball and he wouldn't have got to it someone said. You're having a laugh.

This was down to the clear and obvious bollox. Ref didn't give it so they didn't over-rule him. It needs to go.

I mean he literally does!? I'm not sure how that can be argued against, the ball moves in a different direction to where Garnacho played it.

One the ball moves I put the defender as favourite you get there, again I don't think that's a wild statement

I don't think it's a given or all that clear cut.

However, they didn't give it because of the clear and obvious thing. If the ref gave it they wouldn't have over-ruled it so I just get annoyed with any of the marginal ones.

I don't think it should be a penalty. But also the foul by Onana is clear and should be punished

You can't make this up. They love to give penalties against us. They also love to put hands on eyes when it comes to giving us penalties.

I'm sorry, are you guys complaining over Onana trying to decapitate someone?

That's a pen but it happens literally every match. The amount of times goalkeepers go up and clear out players is so common.
