If Dalot had raised his arms in protest it would have resulted in two yellows. Not sure what we want players to do anymore.
Neither pens. Soft as feck. Would Bruno have been awarded them? Never!

Also it's not the arm, it's the sight trip... Way I see it it's the reason Dalot himself was falling over.

I'm just as annoyed by him giving Chelsea just about every other fecking decision throughout the game tbh. They usually at least try to balance things out a bit.

In a world where Hojlund doesn’t get a pen after being wrestled to the ground by Gabriel, how can they justify either of those tonight?

We've all played, when you know you haven't fouled someone your natural reaction is to protest your innocence.

He probably remembers how Oliver gave him two yellow cards in 3 seconds for waving his arms at Anfield, when Oliver wrongly gave Liverpool a throw in.
We wouldn't have gotten either of those pens. Both were so soft. We've had so many blatant calls turned down this season.

Yeah seen that too, his foot clips Madueke and he falls over. However, Madueke then has a couple of strides after that and falls over. Clearly that contact didn't cause him to fall over. Looks like a dive in full honesty, but can understand why it was given.
The commentary was mental too, treating them as if they were stonewall.
I'd be ok with those pens being given if we were afforded the same standard. Hojlund got taken down in the box with more contact being made than either pen but theres not even a replay. I know the crowd plays a role but that was a very biased refereeing performance.
Two horrendously soft pens, if the ref played on im not sure VAR would have overturned them, but in real time both challenges looked nail on pens and add the actual contact on both i wasn't surprised they were upheld. We didn't deserve to win and we deserved to lose for being so spineless all season. So many sub par players in this team making excuses week on week.
Ok mate. If I'm ever on jury service I'll make sure to ignore the evidence of my eyes and ears and only judge the guilt of the person based on how I think they should be reacting. You've taught me that lesson
This same ref decided that hojlund being ripped down at arsenal was NOT a penalty. Make sense of that if it isn't cheating

Both pens kind of fall into this category for me. They look like pens to the naked eye, and then when you see the replay it's so soft. VAR doesn't deem it in the realm of 'clear and obvious' error, whatever that means anymore.
For the neutral, this must be great entertainment and fun to laugh United, until it ends up being your club being served up this level of officiating.
Can anybody who thinks that the second penalty was correctly given explain to my why City's first goal at the Etihad against us wasn't disallowed for this and why Walker wasn't sent off for DOGSO?

Two softest fouls given in the match were the pens. Ref wasn't giving fouls like that out on the pitch all match. Shocking that those two penalties and that much extra time was allowed.
That is a rough one to call. I would say its more likely a dive than pen.

Still don’t know what the ref was doing at the time as one, he couldn’t see the contact and two, he paused for a bit. Why? You either think it’s a pen or not. If you’re not sure, don’t give it and see if VAR ask you to have a look…

Given the way VAR was looking at it they thought so too but football rules are so much stricter than how the game is usually reffed that they couldn't overturn it.

The 2nd, despite the lack of any decent contact, probably was a penalty simply because Dalot was behind him.
I fail to see how it’s a rough one to call. You can barely spot Dalot touching him, but the Chelsea player keeps on running and then collapses to the ground. If he’d gone down instantly it would still be feck all of a contact but it would make more sense that they didn’t overturn it. They’re literally staring at Madueke just collapsing to the ground after taking further strides
The pens have been discussed a lot and will be a lot more yet. As should VARs role in not sending him to the screen.
But some of those tackles in the second half were definitely card worthy … I dont think I’m being biased, just looking at fouls and current rules.
I also never saw a replay of the possible foul on Hojlund, but it looked more of a contact than either of their pens.
