van Gaal joins: Official

Who the feck is comparing Moye... yeah never mind
Well you did!! I can only read what you said!

Not a fan of Giggs being the assistant manager. Imagine the headlines if things go south. What if Giggs thinks Van Gaal is incompetent after a while, as he did with Moyes?

You think Giggs would at some stage think Van Gaal is incompetent like he did with Moyes. Why? Van Gaal is not Moyes. He's the opposite. A winner and is confident!

We need the Caf to turn orange for a while, not just the title. Borders and text etc. :-)

Im watching MUTV and Im struggling to understand who truly become manager between VG and Ryan Giggs.

Best available candidate. I think this can work. Far easier for him to follow Moyes than Fergie!

I just hope the club gives him the cash to massively restructure the squad, as is needed.
And that there are no political issues with Giggs.

Other than De Gea (and probably Januzaj), they all need a kick up the arse. Van Gaal is probably the man to do it.

Big welcome to the boss and it feels good to end all the speculation and uncertainty regarding the club . He is also a proven operator who shouldn't find it difficult to sell his vision to the players and carries enough clout to push through some desirable changes in a way Moyes never could .

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::):):):):):):):):):) The future is bright. The future is oranje

I'm by no means expecting any miracles next season, in fact I'm not even expecting a title challenge BUT I do expect LVG to bring back some pride and passion around the place, a top four finish isn't completely out of the picture either with no European ties

Nice to have one insane optimist on the Cafe.

Finally! So do we want Netherlands to do well in the WC or get dumped early so we can have LvG all for ourselves soon ?

Good to see this finally go through and be finalised. Now hopefully we can start wrapping up some transfers quickly as well.

What a different feeling to 12 months ago.

From the very start I hated the Moyes appointment and I hated it even more that he had cleared out the backroom staff and replaced them with his own men. We suddenly had the Everton manager and the Everton coaches and it didn't feel good at all, a decline was obvious although I thought it would be a gradual process rather than the steep drop that happened. In a way, the shocking results and position he had us in were a blessing in disguise as a more gradual decline would have earned him more time.

As it obviously panned out not only was he not up to the job but he had a stinking great black cloud over him that brought the fans and players down alike. All fans belief in the squad evaporated thanks to him and the players lost belief in themselves too.

Now we're in a position where a genuinely great manager has taken over and has brought in his own trusted men who the players and fans alike will trust and respect from the word go as they feed off Van Gaal's authority. We now have a manager who is intelligent, confident and has a clear cut philosophy which is proven to have borne fruit at the highest level of the game.

We also have a manager who has the clout to attract top players to the club. World Class players will look at him and believe that he can improve them as a player. It's very exciting and it's time to knock Liverpool well and truly off the perch they seem to think they have a hand feeling for a grip on at the moment.

he's so tough that under his chin is another chin.

Its a good start, he will need to kick some of the players in the bollocks to wake them up first but I think we will see a good playing style manifest all over the club by December. The man atleast has the clout to put some of the media clowns in place soon.

Annoyed. Would van Gaal have been anyone's ideal choice as the direct successor to Ferguson? Exceedingly doubtful, though I am 100% sure several super-fans will claim to always have wanted van Gaal.

Sickened that the club originally chose Moyes, we could have had a real chance at Ancelotti, Mourinho, or perhaps even Guardiola if the club and Ferguson had even had the minutest amount of foresight during Guardiola's year off.

Now we resort to this insufferably arrogant man whose best days are well and truly behind him. Looking forward to the cliques being formed at United, especially if van Gaal is allowed to make his predictable amateurish plunder for Dutch footballers, a ploy as ridiculous as Moyes raiding Everton. A seismic rift will form in the heart of Manchester United in the coming months. Frightening times.

Wow. Glass half-full type are we?

Glad that it's finally sorted, and now hopefully Woodward can push on and make a couple of signings before the world cup. I'd like to see some of the shite removed from our squad soon as well, Young and a few others have been here far too long without actually offering anything, so that would be a good start.

Finally, the first step on the road to recovery. Let the signing of players commence! This summer could be great if everything goes to plan! Roll on next season.

Unexciting and pretty much feels like settling, but oh well, not like the club could do better with the options available and he's at worst better than Moyes. Just hope he makes the right signings or there'll only be slight improvement to this season.

19 trophies at club level, just one less than Mourinho.
And almost a deacde older too.
