van Gaal joins: Official

I bet people are still in hysterics in the previous van Gaal thread, sweating over his appointment.

Van Gaal caught in Manchester!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's nice to appoint someone who has actually won stuff.

And lets face it, he might not succeed but atleast Man Utd will be interesting to watch again. And his pressers and interviews will be great.

All in all I think United will actually be 'fun' again.

Shame to see Ron Atkinson sacked. Welcome Alex Ferguson.

If you carry on spreading your nonsense wums across this forum ill thread ban you from everything aside from the Rooney thread. Just stop being such a spastic.
I was unaware that insulting posters was still allowed here.

And why am I not allowed an opinion? I admit, I am being dramatic, and van Gaal is one of the better options since we made a monumental error in appointing Moyes last year. However, I still believe van Gaal to be an arrogant figure that will unsettle and disrupt this football club, and he has not had a stellar record of success for quite some time. Are we not allowed to have doubts about this appointment? I remember also being chastised for believing Moyes was wrong for this football club last year, but I was correct. Why does it not seem to be allowed to be against a manager, when there are so many posters against so many Manchester United players?

Wahay! Great - Big job given to man with appropriate CV. Certainly not something we could say lasy May! I'm sure he can turn things around.

( ... or do I mean lets hope he can try to turn things around, or maybe we hope he can make it difficult for things not to be turned around ... )

What I like is the prospect of younger players being more involved and given them a chance. I would prefer that over a huge list of new arrivals.

Shame we couldn't have moved Moyes down to assistant manager. It could have been a running joke, each year he gets a new position that means a lot less than the last one, until he eventually ended up as the club mascot.

Sickened that the club originally chose Moyes, we could have had a real chance at Ancelotti, Mourinho, or perhaps even Guardiola if the club and Ferguson had even had the minutest amount of foresight during Guardiola's year off.

Mourinho: He was the guy I wanted last season, but I am glad we didn't now. His attitude this season has been terrible, plus, his football has been about as exciting as Moyes. The only difference is he executes it better.
Guardiola: He was already at Bayern, plus he plays one way only. Our squad cannot play that way, and to be honest, the Tika Taka is getting found out against good teams
Ancelotti: To be honest, this guy is probably a better fit than all, including Van Gaal, but he was offered the Real Madrid job also. I think right now it would have been hard to turn them down over us with the players they have

You know exactly what I'm talking about john and I'll always insult you if you insist on making super retarded posts. You know how to dress up a point to the extent it's completely lost in weird crazy drama and all people are left with is either laughing at you or posting "wut" over and over again. I've no interest in discussing it, you've been warned about this like 900 times.

I'm so shocked that this has happened. Not that Van Gaal is out choice. But that we've actually announced it.
I sincerely believe that the announcement is delayed so that background work regarding transfer signing is sure done deal before announcement. And that respect for Dutch FA too when the friendly game was being prepared

He nearly won the treble in 2010!! Won the league and cup double, missed out on the CL in the final!!

Wouldn't give a shit if we didn't win anything next year. Lets just get into the top 4 and start playing football again

Even though he has to start after the World Cup he won't come in claiming he needs a season to learn the ropes and assess the squad, shrugging off defeats because he's new at this. Don't know what we were thinking last time.

Imagine him throwing a strop when he learns the fact that he's not getting his own chosen one banner.

Not a fan of Giggs being the assistant manager. Imagine the headlines if things go south. What if Giggs thinks Van Gaal is incompetent after a while, as he did with Moyes?

Hoping for the best. Glad the appointment is confirmed now.

Waiting for PoP's prediction of this outcome

From the available options certainly the best we could do. Still a bit annoying that he won't really start working at the club until after the WC but I hope he already has a plan on what to improve on our team and won't need a few months after starting here to realise that our midfield needs improvements.
