van Gaal joins: Official

The best thing about the coming season?

When we smash which ever side is stupid enough to of given Moyes his next managerial role.

Not a fan of Giggs being the assistant manager. Imagine the headlines if things go south. What if Giggs thinks Van Gaal is incompetent after a while, as he did with Moyes?

Hoping for the best. Glad the appointment is confirmed now.

Aye. No more, no less - I see no reason to drown in euphoria just yet.

Regarding Giggsy - I just don't know. Maybe the two of 'em really hit it off. If they're on the same page it could be a good thing to have an AM who knows the place and the players - not least since VG won't be around to run things until the World Cup is over.

This will be a perfect time to start a 'Does Ryan Giggs do Anything?' thread.

It's nice to appoint someone who has actually won stuff.

And lets face it, he might not succeed but atleast Man Utd will be interesting to watch again. And his pressers and interviews will be great.

All in all I think United will actually be 'fun' again.
The most important input of Van Gaal is he will certainly bring back confidence to our players who have been losing it big time thanks to Moyes.

I am very excited for next season

Nonsense comparing Van Gaal to Moyes. On a day like this, people should be positive! It's a great decision to have Giggs as number 2 and I am sure they will work well together.

He'll do great things for us, you just get that feeling. Well up for next season.

Compare the statement LVG's just made with Moyes' first statement which was, "I'm really looking forward to taking up the post"

Buzzing :D

Well thank you very much RedCafe, ever since i saw the new banner i can't stop humming the line: "Oranges and lemons, say the bells of St Clement's."

Good news that it's now settled though.

I truly believe this announcement is already scaring all of our opponents in the PL. May all the fear factors be back at OT again! :)

We gambled on potential with Moyes, and it didn't pay off.

People said we should've appointed an experienced European coach who knows how to manage a big club, and that's what we've now got.

Here's hoping for many successes under his tutelage.

Annoyed. Would van Gaal have been anyone's ideal choice as the direct successor to Ferguson? Exceedingly doubtful, though I am 100% sure several super-fans will claim to always have wanted van Gaal.

Sickened that the club originally chose Moyes, we could have had a real chance at Ancelotti, Mourinho, or perhaps even Guardiola if the club and Ferguson had even had the minutest amount of foresight during Guardiola's year off.

Now we resort to this insufferably arrogant man whose best days are well and truly behind him. Looking forward to the cliques being formed at United, especially if van Gaal is allowed to make his predictable amateurish plunder for Dutch footballers, a ploy as ridiculous as Moyes raiding Everton. A seismic rift will form in the heart of Manchester United in the coming months. Frightening times.

I hope he sells Rooney first because it will benefit United, but second because it will kill you. Hope Van Gaals first bit of business is getting rid of garbage like Rooney.

Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout join as assistant coaches

that's all?
Why impatient! The WC is the major concern of Van Gaal at the moment. Things and agreement need time to finalised. The announcement today is good enough for now

I sometimes have to wonder what goes on in some peoples heads.
