It's a vicious circle isn't it. Behind close door you need to let the players know what you need them to do, but making use of the media to get your message across is low brow not to mention very discouraging. Its not like many managers are capable of doing that discretely but the minimum we require of the manager is not to openly criticise players and do the work behind close door forcefully.

Not sure what your point is as it's obvious Moyes wasn't the man to sort out those faults/carry out the rebuild, but the fact that he was right in saying it's needed still holds true and idk why people hold it against him
I mean, can you imagine if one of our players turned around and said 'Moyes isn't good enough for us, he needs a lot of work. Hes lucky to be here'?? Madness, it should never happen.
After a 26 year dictatorship under Fergie, I think we're the only club left where LvG will have the chance to enact a proper revolution. No Directors of Football, no meddling chairmen, no mega-hyped party-animal players.

The season we've just had will at least make us appreciate it all the more if LVG brings back the good times to Old Trafford. Hopefully we give an absolute pasting to some of the clubs that kicked us when we were down. No mercy.
I tend to believe LvG might be a good fit for United because we all have one goal. He might not fit in the City regime (too many high paid players) or Chelsea (the owner meddling) or Liverpool (the club which has not been winning the league for so long their players don't have the mentality) because in there he wouldn't be able to have his big ambition fulfilled without upsetting a few people.

If their roles had been reversed and Fergie had gone to manage on the continent early in his career, I daresay that he would have fallen out with a lot of clubs himself.

Total football at Old Trafford. Love it. I would be ecstatic it if we win the title next season, but I'm expecting a finish in the top 3 due to van Gaal needing a season to implement his philosophy. I am sure that he will get us back on track.

Pretty much why I think we're a perfect fit for each other currently. At Barca and Bayern when he got sacked it was more for falling out with the board and players who didn't want to adapt to his system, or work hard in training. At United he should have complete control, without the interference of a director of football, without the board forcing him to do things, and most of our players are pretty hard workers currently, and nobody will get in his way if he wants to ship some of them out if they aren't working for him.
Can't wait for the presser before our first match with Liverpool next season.
