Yeah but who cares about Cricket? Lets not forget NOTW turned down the expenses information due to a lack of sex.. It was a tabloid and nothing more.
The Indie does have some good Journalists, i.e (Johann Hari) and cuts out the sensetional crap that most other newpapers don't. Not to mention, its the only paper in the UK which is painfully baised towards either of the main parties.
I have no intention of devaluing journalism at all, I just think that the mainstream media has a lot of incredibly shit journalists and even worse editors which is why random people on the internet are better sourses of information.. I mean for crying out loud, a guy called 'sxephil' on youtube had good coverage of protests in places like Bahrain before the fecking BBC.
And BBC News 24 and BBC World news don't have the same stream. The channel I watched the most on my holydays was BBC World News and it a whole lot better than what we get here.
Its all about sales in the news now and thats a real shame.
Please tell me that isn't a serious observation?
Johann Hari: A personal apology - Johann Hari - Commentators - The Independent
The BBC news network does not have adverts so is not about sales- fair enough there are variations worldwide (remembering the Ron Atkinson thing) but it is ultimately the same source.
I agree there is less investigative journalism these days, but as Robert Peston himself said- he used to head the FT's late investigative team- papers cannot afford to pay for teams to work on a story for six weeks that may or may not come through.
Falling paper sales- they have been in decline for years- and a struggle to monetise online news have put paid to a lot of this.
Not sure about the Sun turning down the expenses story- I know the Daily Mail did.
