I know the results arent out yet. I meant how is it looking?
Are the projected results still too close or has the gap widened?

Too early to tell. Just be patient and all will be revealed.

Some sent out a video of a voting machine in PA that was changing votes. Of course the person who made the video can not be found, nor are there any other reports of this happening. So just another in what will a long line of hoaxes, false stories about voting issues, which will take away from any actual voting problems.

Thats a really interesting blog, I'm reading through the older entries.

Gotta keep that one checked for 4 years time

My guess is it's the best - it's just very stable so less fun to obsessively look at than the others.

It's simpler than Silver's, which means less noise, but it builds in stuff like economic indicators and approval ratings that Wang leaves out.

Wang claims that these are already baked into the polls, but the point is that when you add these factors (which are from the Abramovitz 'Time for change' model) to polling from past elections you get more accurate results than you do using the polling alone.

when will we start gathering the results?

Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Hampshire probably the best early calls to look out for judging by that map.

What about FL and VA?

They'll take ages as they'll be much tighter. If PA in particular gets called quickly then it's a good sign for Obama. I think a bit of Michigan actually closes an hour later than I thought so that might not be so useful. NH might be tight as well but another early call for Obama with it would be good.

Oh dear. The USAF major I know has posted an image of blank panthers standing by a wall and it is claimed they have "forcibly removed an appointed GOP poll official." The comments are ludicrous.

Jamey **** Arrest those feckers!!

Michael **** The only problem I had with them was the fact that they physically removed a court appointed poll inspector. For that, they should be arrested. I just won't say it as eloquently as you did:)

Jamey **** This whole election is pissing me off. And it seems to be the democrats that are creating these problems. Thats a sign of defeat. And they are feeling it. Now they are doing everything they can to prevent it from happening..

An election worker in Oregon is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly altering multiple ballots to benefit Republican candidates.

In a press release on Monday, Clackamas County spokesperson Tim Heider said that 55-year-old Deanna Swenson had been “relieved of duty immediately after the alleged ballot tampering was discovered.”

Swenson, who was registered as a Republican, was accused of filling in a Republican straight ticket on ballots where voters did not specify a choice.

Contacted by Willamette Week, Swenson tearfully insisted that it was “only the two” ballots that had been altered.

The Oregon Department of Justice began an investigation last week after an elections official reportedly observed ballots being altered.

“At this point, it is unclear how many ballots the employee at issue had access to, or what will be done with those ballots,” the sheriff’s office said on Monday.

At a Monday emergency meeting, officials in Clackamas County announced that the altered ballots would not be counted. Since ballots were anonymous, disenfranchised voters would not be given a chance to re-cast their votes.

Swenson has worked in elections since at least 2000, according to the Clackamas County spokesperson.

Blue Oregon’s Kari Chisholm reported that the Oregon City woman’s Facebook page indicated she “liked” various conservative personalities, candidates and organizations including the Republican National Committee, The Tea Party, Paul Ryan VP, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), Ann Romney and Fox News.

If convicted of a Class C felony for ballot tampering, Swenson could face five years in prison and a fine of up to $125,000.

For all this talk of "oh, they're just two sides to the same thing", and "even if they vote for the other guy it doesn't mean they are stupid or ignorant", it seems like every time I see someone describe why they are voting for Romney they are stupid reasons. Half of them involve the words socialist or communist. These people are stupid. I have no respect for anyone who voted for Romney. At all.

What in their reasoning is stupid?

I want Obama to win, but I simply do not know enough about Romney and the Republicans. What is the worst thing that could happen if they were to win?

Some are stupid, some are misinformed, some are cynical.

brad will probabaly be able to comment better.

I do think a huge part of it is 'culture'

There is a strong libertarian sentiment that doesn't really exist in Europe. But the 'libertarians' come under the cynical grouping as they do want the government getting involved to restrict abortions, gay marriage, stem cell research and the rest of it.

Right Barry....I've done my bit...over to you.

In and out...just a couple of old farts there. I walked to the VFW hall and regretted it because it's so bloody hot out there...in the 80's again...should have worn my shorts.

It's depressing hearing some of the shit coming out of the mouths of people voting Romney... from the Republicans I've spoken to, there is grievous ignorance of the policies of both parties, as well as misinformation and misinterpretations of the past four years of politics and the economy, both in America and on the global scale.

I would be inclined to say go back to 2000 and see what happened over the next eight years. There's a glimpse.

I imagine more tax breaks for the wealthy, wall street backing, healthcare fecked, more SCOTUS bullshit with him possibly picking 1-3 new conservative justices (adios gay rights, pro-choice, etc.), and most likely war with Iran and/or Syria, and possibly no scaling back in Afghanistan and maybe a return to Iraq.
