Our Sec of State (a Democrat)was saying, you need to be in the voting line by 8.00 pm Central Time.

Once in line they have to allow you to vote. But Minnesota is very effecient in voting and we never have delays.

I expect MN will called right after polls close.

Yup. We are a safe Democrat state for National elections even if we have had Republican legislatures and governors.

Its because Minneapolis the biggest city is solid Democrat.

For efficient read, sparsley populated. :p

Hillary Clinton will probably run after taking a year or two off from politics. She would be the front runner against any of the recent group of GOP hipsters like Rubio etc.

Dems:

Hillary Clinton
Martin O'Malley
Mark Warner
Tim Kaine
Jim Webb
Andrew Cuomo
Rahm Emmanuel
Julian Castro
Corey Booker
Deval Patrick
John Hickenlooper
and probably a few others would be interested. Hillary would obviously be the clear front runner if she ran.
Brian Schweitzer another name.

wont happen.

this is always brought up by pundits.

2000 was the only election where it happened. And even then, Gore did win...except the SCOTUS gave the election to Bush.

Oh feck this, I am not going to make a god damn penny off this election.

compared to some of the swing states...yes :)

Minneapolis is crowded though. someone on teh radio said her polling place normally is fine...but was packed today.

Oh yeah, I drove through it last year at a ridiculously early hour but it still gave the impression of a vast bit of urban sprawl. Your freeways must be horrible at rush hour.

... you didn't bet on Obama to win Missouri, did you?

No in fairness that was a free bet so I went ambitious as it did not cost me anything in essence.

The bet I put my own cash on was for Romney to win the popular vote and Obama to win the electoral college.

I already did that but three seconds went by without me discovering the answer so I decided to ask the caf. That'll learn me.

we all bitch about the 'jams' in the cities but I am certain compared to say LA or Chicago, where I have been btw, it is a joy ride.

My work is opposite of the driving 'jams'. So I have a good drive...about 15 minites at most both in the mornings and evenings.

Once you leave the cities...its just beautiful...the drive from the cities to Duluth and further to the Canadian border especially when the leaves turn color is georgoeus.

we have two ballot initiatives here...

if they are left blank, it acts a 'no' vote....apparently.

Exposing my ignorance here but that "acts as a 'no' vote' sort of surprised me. Perhaps it's the norm and I somehow never thought of it for ballot initiatives.

You are in the St Paul area aren't you? I PM' you as I am going to be here for a while wanted advice on locations. Did you take a look at it?

I think it's a good thing. When faced with a proposition expressed negatively, describing something I approve of, like "Do you think a marriage should only be between man and woman?", where 'yes' really means 'no to gay marriage', I think the chance of my actually voting the way I intended would be basically 50-50.

think this is the first one I have encountered unlike our friends in California. Excal's answer was enlightening.

we were told at our church that if we left the ballot blank for the marriage amendment vote, it would count as a 'no'
. I'm nort sure the priest was right..so I am going to vote 'no' just in case.

Shit. These newfangled statistical forecasts may be looking good for Obama, but on the other hand, Peggy Noonan's seen a shitload of Romney yard signs:

:nervous:

I would love to place an Obama/Biden placard in my yard but I know that living in Georgia the sign would be destroyed/stolen and my home subject to vandalism. I'd rather just be silent in a red state. I'm sure this is the thinking of others in various regions.

I had an Obama/Biden bumper sticker on my car in 2008, but I lived in a very blue San Francisco Bay Area county at the time. When I moved out to a more purple city in a sea of red, I worried some, but if anyone took a kick at my car or something, I've not seen it.

Eventually I got pissed off by the whole Bradley Manning issue enough that I covered it up with a United sticker instead.

I've never understood why people would put bumper stickers on their cars. It's like those mini-kits that came out in the 90's...why would you invite some knucklehead to damage your motor?

The BBC says that South Dakota, and Georgia was a "tough fight"

Terrible punditry.

It's ridiculous, isn't it. They sent a reporter out to an Ohio voting place and his wisdom was "polls recently have shown Obama with a slight lead of three our four points, within the margin of error, so it's a tie". feck you Clive! Mark Mardell is gash as well.

thats what I am concerned about.

Most here are good...but you do have the odd nutter...

why bother...just vote.

Had the thought when I first moved, but then I thought, "well feck it, I'm not gonna hide my views just cuz some arsehole somewhere can stand the thought that people disagree with him. And if I do, aren't I letting him win?"

nah...its like avoiding a rattle snake.

In terms of people noticing bumper stickers, I don't ever recall people reacting to Obama/Biden, but now that there's a United sticker in its place, I do remember seeing someone in a Liverpool shirt on a motorbike ride up behind me, and looking at him in the rear-view as he got the same smirk in his expression I had.
