A couple of PA polls has Obama up by 4 and 7.

down from a month ago, but PA should be Safe Obama.

Whatever it is, the narrative hasn't been good for Obama since the first debate.

Still can't believe how badly he messed it up.

Obama won't mess up so badly. He might have a poor debate, but he will improve, that's all he needs to do.

credit to Romney for being really up for it. He really took Obama by surprise.

But the Town Hall format allows both of them to talk on specific issues responding directly to the audience.

I think this is the best format for all debates, The people ask on issues and force candidates to answer...with specifics hopefully.

I think this debate will be pretty even.

The don't think Obama was that poor. I can't see how Romney seemingly won the debate by lying through his ass.

on substance Obama won.

Romney was aggressive and just lied...correct.

so you can say he won on style. But what is funny is that the same pundits said that the VP debate was a draw and that Biden came across as a bully.

I liked the Atlanta Mayor's response yesterday on MTP when he said the 'draw' narative was 'manufactured' and Biden totally dominated him and that at the end of the debate he offered Ryan an internship.

What? So you're saying that Tommy Wiseau wouldn't have interrupted Obama's healthcare speech if he was white?

By wetting those already clean dishes he's slowing down the work going on at the soup kitchen. No homeless, Obama-loving socialists should be able to eat anything they didn't earn.

He also wants to return to the gold standard.

And yes, he is a loon. The only reason he has a cult following is because of his foreign policy. People hear "no war!" and go nuts.

He's (Paul) also the unanimous choice for the tin foil hat brigade, and has appeared on Alex Jones radio show a few times.

Interesting how the polls have moved almost proportionally with the two debates over the past week. Going into Obama/Romney on 3 Oct, Obama had a sizeable lead that was withered away beginning a few days after. Following Biden/Ryan, Romney's momentum has been noticeably blunted after Joe took young Ryan to the shed for 90 minutes. Obama's percentage of winning has now jumped back to 66% from 63% and if he has a solid performance tomorrow, he will surely get back into the mid 70s. Alternatively, if Romney has a great performance, he may be able to prize Ohio back.

Don't know why people are laughing at the race issue when it comes to Obama, it definitely does exist. If Obama was a white man he most certainly would not be experiencing the same vitriol from the right as he does now. There is no way that prick interrupts his speech in congress nor does that fat bitch Arizona governor stick her finger in his face. Anyone who doesn't believe his race is an issue are living in a dreamworld.

You're right. Race is definitely in play - although not usually in an overt way. A lot of the GOP vitriol comes out in coded behavior (socialist/no birth certificate/Muslim/Kenyan etc). In essence, they are "othering" Obama.

"He's not one of us". Translation = he doesn't represent the White, Christian societal power structure of hyper-individualism that America was predominantly built on. I actually don't think most GOP types realize that they're doing what they are when they use this sort of logic to criticize Obama. Its just innately woven into their identity.

That said, there are also a few people that clutch at the race card a bit too frequently, which is also quite tedious.

Maher is an idiot. He squanders a chance to actually raise important issues in a thoughtful way with his unimaginative polemics.

Agreed. He's one of the few leftie talkshow hosts I find obnoxious. And I actually like the likes of Olbermann.

I find his anti-religious tirades amusing and refreshing, especially considering its from an American talkshow host, but I just can't get over how much he loves himself.

That's because he generally appeals to the unintelligent lefty crowd who approach most issues with a degree of shallowness. By contrast, Stewart is far more intelligent and appeals to a more sophisticated lefty demographic.

For me, even his atheism is a bit cringeworthy. He's certainly not the best advocate for it, and probably turns more people away from atheism than leaves them with a favorable impression of it.

I'd agree if he was a European talkshow host, but I think in the States his OTT, pro-atheist rhetoric is necessary to counteract the over-zealous religious love-in they have there.

Odds of around 2/5 on a second term for Obama, I am seriously tempted to put my house on it tonight before the debate. I mean, if Obama is remotely competent tonight he will get a bump and the odds will get less attractive.

Never underestimate american voters.

I've seen him have a go at Christianity but does go after the other main religions in the same way?

Yeah he goes after Islam as well in fairness. I remember him saying he was disturbed when he found out that Mohammed was one of the most popular names in the UK. That did cause a bit of a fuss at the time.

Maher is atheist and dislikes all religions, has a go at most of them whenever news/circumstances present itself, which is often for him. He's a militant atheist if you will.

However, the majority of his hatred is aimed at Christianity, which makes sense as it is the prevailing religion in the US, and it has a huge cultural and political influence in this country. I personally find his anti-religion taunts hilarious, as was his film on it.

I have to check that film out.

back on topic: is this do or die tonight, if we're keeping score on debates? there's only 3 right, and another poor performance by Obama could spell trouble. the Romney campaign was looking all over the shop a few short weeks ago and now seems to be on an upsurge and has the momentum.
