How easy is it to remove a speaker once elected?
Currently more difficult than it might be with the new Speaker. It will only take one House member to start the proceedings to oust him / her in the new term if widely circulated rumors are to be believed.

. Congress is now proceeding to a 10th round of voting…

This is now the most drawn out speaker election since 1859. Juan Ciscomani, a freshman Republican from Arizona, nominated McCarthy for a 10th vote.

Some of these folks will be looking over their shoulders this weekend if it gets that far, remember the 218 count applies only with everyone there, a few "accidents" over the weekend might be forthcoming!

Why an 11th vote? I don’t understand why they keep doing it whilst nothing at all has changed. I just don’t get it.
No mechanisms exist to change the process.

The weekend might prove fruitful as a deal might be brokered.

Typically Friday is not a work day in the House.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see everyone bolt back to their districts tomorrow (or later tonight).

Yeah which I get but surely they don’t have to keep voting - they stopped before on previous days.
They need to have a majority of votes to adjourn. People caved last night to ensure they were actually going home. It was extremely close.

So how do we think this ends? McCarthy doing a deal with the Dems? Dirty tricks employed to get the GOP rebels on side over the weekend?

What happens if the deadlock simply can't be broken? Don't think there is any provision in the constitution to call another election like in Westminster system so I guess they just keep voting!

All a bit of a shambles but it's certainly interesting though.

One of the previous times this happened it went on for 3 months, the only way I see this getting fixed is for moderate Republicans to do a deal with the Democrats.

Gaetz will never vote for McCarthy, he hates his guts, the fact the others have stuck it out this long indicates they're unlikely yo cave , doing once or twice to make a point might be understandable but they're way beyond that now, they're defying Trump now so probably have nothing to lose

Some good ideas in this video! We need some passion in politics!

A few punches and a few black eyes would not be a bad dea now. We should have our Greene vs. Boebert battle too before they get separated followed by either shouting "I'll fecking see you out there, you cnut" at the other.

Yes. Also, they did not have any particular demands, they only do not want McCarthy. So, if they change their position now, they will just seem weak.

I think that sooner or later they will all agree to vote for someone else. I mean the Republicans themselves. The political climate is too polarized to make a deal with the Dems.
